I like to use motion mainly for intro graphics on cd/dvd multimedia stuff, its a quick fix but what it does it does well.

@Charlie X I was thinking about upgrading my vid card 9600 to a 6800gt and maybe upping the ram from 2 to 4gig, any advice? I work mainly with multimedia/DV content atm but am learning shake..slowly

A torrent would be good, What size is the file MeBe?

Regarding NTSC or PAL, just as long as its an improvment over whats available already who cares? I would like a PAL version thats why I'm doing my own one but I still want to see all Mebe's hard work

Interesting rnranimal, may I enquire as to which DV capture device/card you used?

I have used a ADVC 300 with the french pal discs and have been fairly pleased with the test output, when I'm back in work on thursday(I don't have the connection for this at home) I will try to upload the sample mpeg so everyone can provide feedback if they wish.

I just got the French soundtrack discs posted to me didn't realise that a scene or frame is missing, can you use the SE to replace or add a wipe in FCP maybe?

Well, Friday Night I'm going to play around with capturing some frames of the SW LD. Media 100 has a 16x9 option. I'm going to give it a try.

Yeh I have used cleaner version 6.01 they call it intelecine it does a good job, check page 69 of the manual, the only problem with cleaner is that its so s-l-o-w to encode mpeg2 it takes three times as long as Compressor or Bit Vice and the quality is much worse IMHO.

I have the CLD 2950 and also have disabled the HQ circuit when capturing I found that letting the ADVC 300 do the NR makes a much better job, I think the only difference between the two players is the ac3 rf output and the digital frame store.

When I manage to get hold of some french thx discs (keep getting sniped dam 56k connection!) I will post some captures.

I do feel a bit lost with all this virtualDub and avisyth talk, is this all PC only software?

My sony region 2 player does a sterling job at playing most dvd's and I usually have the cinema setting on to enrich the black.
Colour output looks fine on my wega tv.

Ok, but the point is TitleLAB is capable of importing .ssa, .srt and .sub files and exporting to Qt or DVD studio pro and if he hasn't got DVD studio pro then he may use Sizzle which is free to author the dvd.

Also if you go Here you will find swedish subrip for the ANH which you can open in Titlelab and make a custom edit, may save you alot of typing

And, yes, it's the one I won (it was a second chance offer!). These are pretty rare, and fairly expensive...

I plan on doing my own transfer, but I don't have the video acquisition hardware yet. I'll let you know when I start this project.

I've bought the french 1995 THX LDs off eBay in the past weeks. Two different releases exists: one with the french soundtrack, and a box set with the original english soundtrack and french subtitles. (I've bought both of them!)

yeah I think it does require a tweaking too, I just reviewed the OT disc and took a uncompressed sound clip from there, the duration is about 1.5 seconds so add that to the list for the weekend! i'm trying not to mix the source LD/DVD footage to much because the dvd's I have are PAL and the lasers's are NTSC.

The Kabam/peheeuh sound will be fixed

Okay guys, here is a little clip of my current ANH project, site page only temporay bit of a rush job, am planning to have tutorials on Mac based capture/editing and progress shots added later.

Yeh..the old emperor rules, he/she makes a comeback in my edit courtesy of the 97 LDs.

Bring my shuttle is cool much better than the waffle "Alert my star destroyer and prepare my pipe and slippers or whatever"

Thats the beauty of this project everyone can have his or her own custom edit with 0-100% of SE content left in or taken out, taken out in IMHO
