Fractalsponge's 3dmeshes used in Family Guy : Credit Not Given - Awaiting RotJ
Time

Since the RotJ episode will probably make the same mistake, bumping the thread to see if someone can help this guy out.

Seems as though LFL believes this model is part of their in-house library.  (which it can be, see first post for issue)  Although the visual proof is there, how do you get traction so that this guy gets credit?

Return of the Jedi Novelization

All this happened in a matter of seconds. When he saw what was happening, Jabba exploded in a rage, and yelled furious commands at those around him. In a moment, there was general uproar, with creatures running through every door. It was during this directionless confusion that Leia acted.

She jumped onto Jabba's throne, grabbed the chain which enslaved her, and wrapped it around his bulbous throat. Then she dove off the other side of the support, pulling the chain violently in her grasp. The small metal rings buried themselves in the loose folds of the Hutt's neck, like a garrote.

With a strength beyond her own strength, she pulled. He bucked with his huge torso, nearly breaking her fingers, nearly yanking her arms from their sockets. He could get no leverage, his bulk was too unwieldy. But just his sheer mass was almost enough to break any mere physical restraint.

Yet Leia's hold was not merely physical. She closed her eyes, closed out the pain in her hands, focused all of her life-force - and all it was able to channel - into squeezing the breath from the horrid creature.

She pulled, she sweated, she visualized the chain digging millimeter by millimeter deeper into Jabba's windpipe - as Jabba wildly thrashed, frantically twisted from this least expected of foes.

With a last gasping effort, Jabba tensed every muscle and lurched forward. His reptilian eyes began to bulge from their sockets as the chain tightened; his oily tongue flopped from his mouth. His thick tail twitched in spasms of effort, until he finally lay still -deadweight.

Leia set about trying to free herself from the chain at her neck, while outside, the battle began to rage.

Leia's got dad's talent... awe.

Star Wars coming to Blu Ray (UPDATE: August 30 2011, No! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!)
Time

The search trends of each of the various 'Star Wars' formats.  Generally the interest in this bluray set is significantly less then the anticipation of the DVDs, which has been split apart so that this chart would be readable.

Kinda neet to realize that, after being a dead format for over a decade, the laserdisc got some prime attention shortly after the 2004.  But it didn't return when the 2006 GOUT came out...

Also the bluray kinda lies as it includes Clone Wars and other SW non-hexology releases.

And why'd everyone ignore my SW displeasure quotes.... boo u suxxx

One year on...

One of the problem is without the movies, interest in SW is just waning.  (very high profile but a slow dwindling none the less)

Google Insights "Star Wars" search:

http://www.google.com/insights/search/#q=%22star%20wars%22&cmpt=q

The online activity behind the movies was staggering compared to the DVD releases (2004/2006) There's a slight bump after the 2004 most likely because of the Original Trilogy issue.  (2008 the Clone Wars bump, not as noticable)

Would like to trend the signature data if Jay's willing to release it.  See if there's a way to identify what events lead to getting signatures.

Actually surprised by the 2358 number, was expecting less.  In January there were around 850, thought it would dry up from there, 1 a day, but this is closer to 4-5.

Can do some of the original petition stats from the waybackmachine.org:

2002.05.__ - Start?

2003.03.29 - 22,100 signatures

2004.03.23 - 56,354 signatures

2004.09.06 - 61,305 signatures

2005.07.11 - 70,716 signatures

These numbers road in on the back of the movies.

Here's the graph for "Star Wars" "Original Trilogy"

2004 spiked interest in the topic but the GOUT release definitely got the message out.

But on the positive note, the new petition did spur interest in this site:

http://www.google.com/insights/search/#q=originaltrilogy.com&cmpt=q

Of course these graphs probably don't mean much, since petitions are not really 'search' item related.  They're more about how many times they get repeated and where.  Anyone got an online tool for that?

STAR WARS - THE ULTIMATE EXPERIENCE - Is Forever ...One Last Time (Television Trilogy Preservation Set + SW Commercial Breaks) -The Ordeal Is Real- & available (Released)
Time

Thanks to Marty McFly two of the three Carrie Fisher hosting broadcasts have been digitized by the :F:L:I:M:S:I:P:L:A:S:T: :D:A:T:A:B:A:S:E:.

After finding the usenet request, Marty McFly offered up his tapes.  ('Star Wars and 'Return of the Jedi') Many Thanks.  But still looking for Empire.  Marty's fairly certain his copy hasn't been thrown away, but it's unlocatable at the moment.

All three movies use the same set, so the Fisher hosting segments are not as vibrant as Billy Dee's but she was either allowed more room to speak her mind or took advantage of the situation, so the segments are a little more interesting.

Even that IMAX doc about the final shuttle mission to repair Hubble didn't stick around here very long. And that was at the popular multiplex in the area.

Just saw it couple weeks back, even this butchered version (they cut it down to fit the museum's 1 hour scheduling cycle) is worth seeing.  To see the all the details of objects floating in space is hypnotic.  Plus the stuff the astronauts had to do, at one point hammering out a circuit board which wouldn't cooperate, where any slip could have caused a puncture in their suit.  And all the animations of traveling through time and space to witness everything Hubble has seen over the years, is done in such a way that it become slightly more comprehensive even though you're dealing with scales which you lack the terms to describe.

So if you're near: New York Museum of Natural History go check it out.

http://www.amnh.org/news/2010/07/hubble-imax-film-opens-at-the-museum-july-3/

otherwise should be out on HD eventually.

That sucks you still haven't seen it Jay, but it does have a cast of hundreds, probably most of the participants haven't seen it yet.  I'm guessing they are trying to schedule some double feature with the SWUncut project and that would premiere possibly in NYC, but SWUncut hasn't been given clearance, so they are trying to figure out if they should just go ahead on their own or wait for official word, which might never come.

none, are those screenshots from the latest SE HD broadcast? I find it hard to believe suddenly those ships have now changed to purple and orange lol.

Those screencaps:

are UNTOUCHED.  At full resolution, the quality was poor, so they are test shots from the archives of some kind, but don't know the reasoning behind them.  Have posted in the purple TIE fighter thread at the replica forum, hopefully they'll be aware of what purpose they served.
