Once Upon a Time in the West - LD PCM Preservation (Released)
Time

It may be possible to get the proper finale music after all.

German channel Kabel 1 Classics is broadcasting "Once Upon a Time in The West" on August 8th, 10:15 PM local time, so it should end between 00:30-01:00 AM.

Could anyone who lives in Germany or has access to Kabel 1 Classics record the telecast and see if the finale has the proper music?

20k Leagues never received a BD release, so an HDTV version is a close seconds for High Def.

The Aristocats HDTV doesn't suffer from excessive DNR like the BD.

Aladdin is post changes, but IMO, the original color palette was kept and the animation additions kept to a minimum. I know it's better than the BD on the aspect ratio department, having more information on the top and bottom, and I've heard the BD has some encoding issues.

@jimbotron235:

According to this: http://www.hometheaterforum.com/topic/325032-sergio-leone-blu-ray-thread/

The German and French versions are the only true director's cuts.

That German version on youtube is about 157 minutes in PAL, which is 164 minutes in NTSC. I haven't checked, but if those scenes are in this version, then they should probably be there.

Also, there really is foley during the credits, but you may be able to get a better sounding version, as there are 2 TV rips of that broadcast , but I myself couldn't find any links.

Perhaps a few German friends can help.

Well, essentially, there are 3 Digital re-mixes:

1st DVD(Gold): 1997 theatrical re-release 5.1 soundtrack. Considered by many as an excellent and respectful re-mix.

2nd DVD (Platinum): The DEHT 2006 5.1 mix (brrrr). A truly awful remix. Everything sounds out of phase, The vocals on the songs comes from all speakers with the same volume...just...no. Strangely enough, all dubs use the 1st re-mix and it is not available in English as an alternative (As was the case with other Platinum releases),

1st Bluray/3rd DVD (Diamond): 7.1 remix with 5.1 core. Better than the DEHT mix. Voices are clearer, and well separated. However, it seems it was mastered too loudly, and there is some mild, but noticeable distortion in the "big" moments. The original DS mix is not available (Once more, despite original mixes being available on other Diamond releases)

I uploaded an HDTV version on AMPS (Video and audio wise, is the same as the Platinum DVD) way before the BD came out which has synched Gold soundtrack with the DEHT mix as well, for all to compare.

There was talk of the DTS discs of the 1997 mix being available to be synched.

This, along with a PCM of the original Dolby Surround mix from the LD, will make for the best sounding custom BD.

Would it not be better to upload it to usenet where everybody has access to it rather than myspleen where only very few will and for a very limited amount of time until people inevitably stop seeding?

I do not understand everybody's obsession here with myspleen and torrents that have to be constantly seeded, especially with bigger bd-25/bd-50 releases. Usenet is the way to go hands down for larger releases IMHO, they stay up for years without people having to waste their upload bandwidth seeding old stuff rather than being able to upload new stuff.

Can somebody explain to me what's so great about myspleen over usenet that offers so many advantages over it, apart from having a pay a little bit for usenet access?

Well, I for one, don't have usenet or access to usenet.

Not everyone has access to it, but most have access to Myspleen.

Torrents are the most common way to transfer files quickly.

I may be able to upload it to a more useful place, but I'll need help.

I found some links of a free server, but if I'll download them by myself, it will take more than a week because of the speed and the fact that it uses captcha recognition.

I'll need about 30 people to download a part each and then upload it to Mega, Netload, Putlocker or any other free and fast server for me to use later to extract.

If I can get the volunteers in the next 2 days, It could be done by the end of the week.

PM me if you're interested.
