Maybe it’s because idiots keep repeating the same weak baseless arguments over and over again?

Are you me?

But seriously, I’ve seen these arguments before and they’re really dumb. People getting upset over the fact that a sequel has heavy similarities to its predecessor. If people really think that TFA sucks because it’s too similar to ANH then they must also hate ANH for being too similar to The Hidden Fortress

First of all, I haven’t seen OP expressing his opinion here before. So it is completely fine for him to express whatever he actually feels about the film (he was not repeating it in multiple posts). It is by no means forbidden to hold/express an opinion that was already expressed by many users before. On contrary, expressing similar concerns just adds weight to those concerns.

And even if someone would be repeating the same argument (as Lord Haseo has been policing the TFA threads and repeating the same counter-arguments over and over again), I don’t see any problem with that. We certainly didn’t have any problems repeating the same arguments against PT over the last decade.

I guess we’re not gonna stay original and we’re just gonna repeat stuff

Stay out of these threads then if you don’t like to see it. Simple as that. They are meant to point these things out. There are plenty of other threads and topics.

Fuck off. Nobody wants to hear your stupid recycled argument. Go make a YouTube video with your unkempt messy face and emotionless monotone voice and tell those other nit picky retards the same argument they like
to hear because they have a hard time understanding other peoples viewpoints.
I’m pretty sure people are hear to see UNIQUE viewpoints and not REHASH

Let’s stay civil, shall we?

I’m curious. I oversaw your statement on the voice acting being bad. This is the first time I’ve actually seen someone make such criticism so I am wondering. What parts of the film do you think feature poor
dialogue? Or do you think the whole film had bad voice acting?

You want me to dig up bad lines from the PT? Just pick at random lol

Wait, you weren’t talking about The Force Awakens? Whoops my mistake

Hell no. Outside of ESB, TFA has the best dialogue in the series. And in terms of acting TFA even outclasses ESB in that regard though I hold the contention that Mark performance is slightly better than Daisy’s. Though that may change with the Sequels.

The only line in the film that I cringed at was Reys “I didn’t know there was this much green in the whole galaxy” bleh

whereas a lot of people shouting “rehash” do it and that’s it.

Well essentially it is a boring rehash and that’s it.

It’s more than just a rehash or a shot for shot remake (as some people have alluded to it being) but that’s not even the fucking point. People who think it’s a rehash should at least dress up their complaints more if they’re going to say literally the same thing over and over again. Makes people who mostly sound alike seem even more similar.

“rehash/remake/reboot” has gotten staler than 3 week old dog shit.

Agreed. The rehash argument is so old.

I am sorry to disappoint you two but such things do not have an expiry date. To be honest, this is the worst thing I have heard in a while around here. Even PT defenders did not use something like that. It is like saying: “argument that PT has bad dialogue has gotten old”. No, it never gets old. If it is crap it is crap forever and an argument that points it out is always appropriate.

OK, well, nobody wants to hear that argument for the millionth time. “the evil black guy wants the droid and in dis film the evil black guy wants the droid REHASH COPY HUR DUR” Enough aspies with internet connections have already made this point too many times

Right, and honestly, how does them using a team account affect anyone in the slightest? Let 'em be.

It’s not about their account, it’s about posting in their own project thread. Apparently this risks sock puppeting. I find it very offensive that these nobodies have the audacity to claim that Team_Negative1 will abuse this site. Considering their work, I think they’ve proved themselves tenfold. Team_Negative1 has never posted anything offensive or off the topic of Star Wars, it’s just people who are anal over a stupid rule. Apparently restoring Star Wars and Empire from original 35MM prints doesn’t give the Team any credibility

Well looky-here, it’s another team member!

I wish. Sadly I wasn’t involved. I would’ve loved to have been there. I wish I could be remembered as the guy who helped saved Star Wars, and not some user account on some website

We’re all grateful for their work and project. But the idea that they should get a free pass for whatever they want because they released something makes no sense. I thought OOT fans would be a little more resistant to mindless sycophancy. Most people who are into that went with Lucas long ago.

But I think that’s probably more than enough dwelling on a nonsense idea suggested an expert who registered this very week.

Look, I apologize for brown nosing. I got worked up over the comments that these people have left towards Team_Negative1. I viewed these comments after watching their scans of Star Wars and Empire, and it really worked me up, because those transfers were the best versions I’ve ever seen (minus the dirt and film artifacts of course) And I couldn’t believe the bashing I was seeing in threads. I still believe that it’s over absolutely nothing, but still, I understand why people were doing it. They broke rules and they’ve been given breaks. I can see why people could get frustrated over that.

I understand that they should abide by the site rules. They don’t own this site. If
they want to do whatever they want, then they should do so on their site (thestarwarstrilogy.com)

They should respect the rules of this site if they wish to continue using it.

I won’t leave anymore hyperbole.

Yeah, 'cause this’ll never lead to an abuse of privilege …

For people that claim we’re ‘ruining’ this section, and people that don’t read or care what we have to say.

I said that in the off-topic thread, but intended it as more of a sarcastic quip, but I have made a lot of disparaging remarks towards team_negative1. My apologies for the rudeness and disrespect. That being said I do stand by the fact that ignoring the rules of the website that has provided you with a place to discuss and share your work (work which I am grateful for by the way) is inappropriate.

Possibly. Too bad we can’t see when this clip was uploaded.

Not definitive, but a good estimate–Web Archive’s earliest crawl of the page is Sept. 5, 2015.

I entered the URL in Google and it said August 31st, 2015.

As you and I know, the Blu-Ray has been out since Sept 16th 2011. They could’ve easily ripped the clip from the Blu-Ray and upload that, but they didn’t. I don’t think they altered the audio just for an online clip. Now I’m convinced that were gonna see a Disney SE. Hopefully packaged with the unaltered versions.

The way I see it, there are two versions of Star Wars worth preserving for history’s sake: the '77/'80/'83 and the '97 editions, the only two that saw their premiers on the big screen. As far as I am concerned, the '04 DVD and '11 Blu-Ray cuts are insignificant from a preservation point of view.

If new Lucasfilm lead by Disney wanted to put out their own edition based on the '04/'11 as some kind of “Definitive Edition,” like the Bladerunner “Final Cut,” why not? It would be better than anything we’ve had since the original releases (they would be bone-headed, for instance, to keep Greedo shooting or Vader’s Noooooo!). If they’re doing a new 4k transfer for such purposes, however, there is no excuse not to release the theatrical version alongside, and from a business perspective, it would be quite stupid to pass up the opportunity for an expensive boxset that would fly off the shelves.

I don’t think they (morally) have the right to tinker with the trilogy. I think that the 2011 should be the final Special Edition, as these were the last ones that George worked on, and are essentially his definitive version. I don’t think we’ll ever see an official release of the 97/04 cuts again, and I doubt we’ll get a new master for the 2011. I think they’ll do a 4K restoration of the OUT and release it in a pack with left over 2011 discs.

I’m just trying to explain this weird-a** video. Perhaps it’s some kind of working cut of the 2011 before they swapped the audio tracks, and a desk jockey at Lucasfilm pulled the clip from an HDD w/out realizing it?

Possibly. Too bad we can’t see when this clip was uploaded.

Anyways, I do think Disney will put out the theatrical cuts eventually.

They threw out Lucas’s version of EP7, they kept him a million miles away from the set, and they wouldn’t even let him give a few ideas. I really don’t think Disney cares about the mans opinion anymore, because THEY own Star Wars now, not him.

Plus, Lucas has said some pretty nasty stuff about Disney, so their relationship isn’t too great.

I honestly think George doesn’t give a shit about Star Wars anymore. I highly doubt he wrote “Keep the theatrical cuts away” in the contract with Disney.

This is my take.
