Info: James Bond - Laserdisc Preservations: 1962-1971

When they put them on 4K home media, won't they be forced to remaster? Surely they wouldn't just upconvert old masters to 4K.

At least as long as these crappy masters are the only ones, repertory screenings will remain in 35mm. I believe MGM has prints of all the movies, a couple Bonds showed up at the Castro here in SF earlier this year. (captainsolo, have you seen any of the Bonds in 35mm?)

Had no idea the Castro had Bond films this year...  I will surely keep an eye out for any future prints being screened.   Would surely be a treat!

the first time the time machine travels i like the color correction a lot but i'm tossed on the other one which one of these back to the future shots is better?

using the dcp would someone be willing to do a color correction as well as fixing the dirt and scratches as well if  no one is willing to do dirt and scratches fix i understand.

I really like the first one!  Maybe it's just my imagination, but it's almost as if the color correction brought out the grain detail.  Or did you apply a layer of fine grain to the correction as well?

Info Wanted: Pierce Brosnan era James Bond movies - why the image quality so bad?
Time

I agree!

And another thing that has bothered me... unrelated to the mastering job itself, is that MGM has decided to replace the MGM/United Artists logos with newer versions...  For example, the original DVD/VHS of "The World Is Not Enough" had the MGM 75th Anniversary card at the start of the film.  Removed for the Blu, however.  Of course, they have done this for the rest of the films as well.  :-/

Info: Our projects released thread

OK Everyone I have some great news!
Vinnie and I have worked through the BS that happened a while ago, I have given him my apologies for the role I played in it and without getting into the gory details all that is needed to know is that through Vinnie's generosity and the great Site that BT is we are back, all will be restored and new stuff will come, now all this said Vinnie has graciously given us a SeedBox to use again, I will get the details when ready direct from him, but there is a catch, this is not a permanent Box, he will provide for as long as he can and if the time comes where we no longer have it he will provide ample time for us to decide what is needed.

So for us to keep this for a "longer" time I would like to know if any of you would be interested in donating some so we, Team Blu can keep this baby and not have any kind of disruption in sharing, our projects are "Exclusive" to BT and I will provide invites to those that need them, I am also sure Vinnie will to when he pops in and out, so all this said I think this time will be it, we are done and this is what it is, so if you guys can help us keep this Box then please PM me for the details, serious inquiries only lol.

Thanks and have a great Day

ps. as you may have read Jason Goes to Hell Unrated is finished and will be shared soon, Night of The Living Dead 1968 Special Edition and Ultimate Edition are coming, and I am hoping I can get The Black Hole going.

This is great news!  Glad things were able to be all patched up!  :-)

Guys, I know you were all worried about the eyebrows on Vader's face when Luke pulls off the helmet, but I have a better suggestion. Just photoshop Hayden's Christenson's face in there instead. That will help with continuity when we get to the end and we see a ghostly hayden there with Obi and Yoda. Right!? It will work perfectly!

Right?

Guys?

I think tfshirty is on to something here!  ;-)

I say both., that DTS ES mix is unique and is worth preserving.

Is the Cinema DTS track the only source for the original theatrical mix? Is what appears on the Blu-ray a near field mix?

I agree!  I believe that the audio heard in the cinemas was a DTS-ES mix as well, but I could totally be wrong on that.

I haven't actually watched the blu so I have no idea what that audio sounds like, but I would assume that it is indeed a near field mix.  The DTS-ES mix on the original DVD is an aggressive near field mix (but not too over the top, IMO) and is most definitely demo worthy.

I wonder if the audio from the blu is simply a high-resolution version of the DTS-ES mix from that DVD... or if they did another remix.

Is the Laserdisc PCM track available for download and will it line up correctly with the 4K BD release?

Where is this available? Is there by any chance a release with the PCM track sync'd do video anywhere? If not, I'd like to sync it to the latest region 1 bluray release.

Send a PM to PDB... He might be able to hook you up with the audio track.

The colors look absolutely fantastic in those new screenshots!  I feel like your color grading is a nice happy medium between the Blu and Harmy's version... best of both worlds, in my opinion!

I will look in to that, if I can rotobrush in gout material seamlessly I will. Sync is no problem, since I have to do it anyway as I go to fit the 97 DTS to the bluray/my version, and had to use some of the 77 six track mix aswell for jabba removal and han greedo scene

Also... I fancy myself a bit of an audio guy, and the kind of work you're talking about doing on this mix has me both fascinated and excited about the finished product, whenever it may come.  :-)

Info: Terminator 2 - in search of the theatrical sound mix...

Yes, it's that one. All the others have the 2000 remix in various bitrates.

I think that DVD is probably the best preservation of the CDS mix, it's at 384kbps

The laserdiscs mostly have the Dolby Surround mix, there were a few with the CDS mix in AC3 but due to the way those early AC3 laserdiscs were, it's probably a pain to get all the tracks ripped.

This is the LD version of the DVD

Thanks, Stamper!  I've thought about purchasing the DVD, but I just wanted to make sure... Thankfully, there are dozens of copies of this disc at local record shops.  :-D
