Don't remember when, but way back when all we had was the ROTS "NO," someone pointed out that there was a more convincing Vader yell in a battery commercial.

Holy cow that brings back memories! I remember this commercial very well.  That's some pretty good production value for an Energizer commercial, it really looked like Star Wars!

anothe example of lucas changing things to appeal to a new generation lightsaber dueling styles of OT vs PT
Time

I always thought the difference in fighting styles between the two trilogies was obvious.  One group of movies were made in the late 70s to early 80s, the other group of movies were not.

Trying to explain away the differences with anything other than that sounds like comic book nerd bickering, and not the cool kind.

Possible Non-SE screening of ROTJ in Modesto,CA?
Time

Hey guys.  Compyislife and i551 already said it, but it was an awesome experience.  I went with one of my friends who had never seen the SE version of ROTJ, and he was shocked and disappointed by the new cgi, but both of us couldn't be cynical enough to not cheer and clap at key moments in the movie.

Having grown up with the VHS versions of the movies, it was amazing to see on the big screen, and it did look very clean and sharp, and the film grain and jumpiness of the picture only added to the charm.

The best part were all the kids that showed up, in costume or just with light sabers. A few of them would light them up whenever Luke lit his up onscreen, very awesome.  One little girl made my day when she saw the bounty hunter show up in Jabba's palace and she cried out "That's Leia!".  It got a chuckle out of the audience, it was damn cute.

And you know what I thought when I saw everyone that showed up to pack this theater and celebrate a movie that is almost 30 years old?  No one, especially the little kids, would give a damn if the movies were still the same as they were in 77-83.  It would still be just as popular, and the kids would still love them just as much.

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom: The InfoDroid Edit (Released)
Time

This sounds awesome.  I love Indy, and I watched ToD the most when I was a kid.  But I recently got the boxed set on DVD and watched it....and I felt differently.  It was way sillier than I remember, and I can really see how it was a disappointing sequeal to Raiders.

Can I get a PIF copy of this from anyone, please?

Thank you.

How did Obi-Wan get so much money?
Time
In the cantina, Obi-wan offers Han 17,000 credits to fly him to Alderaan. Han seems impressed by this amount of money, and Luke also is taken aback by Obi-wans flashing of the galactic cheddar. What I want to know is, where did Obi-wan get that kind of money just being a hermit/crazy old man? Was he running an illegal spice trade? Robbing Jawas? One would have to assume that a man of his age is living on a fixed income, and wouldn't normally be able to be so free with his wallet. Perhaps he received a sizeable retirement plan from his years of service as a Jedi, although that seems unlikely, given the unfriendly terms on which he left. What do you think?

Best Printer for Printable DVDs
Time
Hey guys (and gals). I just recently got a Mac Mini, and I have an R300. I need the software that came with the Epson to print on CD/DVD's, but it's for Windows and OS X 10.1 I have 10.4, and can't find the Print CD software on Epson's website. Does anyone here use a Mac with their R300? Or can you suggest another way to print on CD/DVD besdies the Epson software? THanks!

Video Games - a general discussion thread
Time
I too was disappointed with the lack of anything truly amazing on the 360, but I am more interested in what can be done with it if it is ever cracked and able to be modded. Not just so I can pirate videogames, but it's a very powerful computer, and would be awesome to use as one! I'm got loads of emulators running off my regular xbox, and am looking at turning it into an A/V hub with the Xbox Media Center.

LCD TV Questions

Right, I thought the proper number of vertical pixels for a 16x9 screen would be 720 also, but I have seen televisions that are the same size with a different number of pixels. So in theory the one with the most pixels would be the clearest, but not if you watch a DVD or give it a 720p HD signal, then it wouldn't be displaying things in it's native resolution.

I would like a DLP model, but for my screen size 20-23", LCD seems to be the only option. And $$$ is an issue.
