Ha Ha :)

Been researching the 4th draft script some more and I have spotted the scene re-arrangement of when C3-PO says goodbye to R2 as he is being loaded into the x-wing.

So what happened is that C3-PO is in the command center with Leia and Reikan and then he is in the hanger with R2 and then he is back in the command center again. It's not a major issue but perhaps a possible fix could be achieved to not have him flitting about on echo base within a few moments. Here is my idea and I would have no hope of doing it because my art skills are rubbish.

turning C3-PO into K3-PO in this scene....Is it worth it??? It's not a major issue but it is perhaps a possible fix for C3-PO being in too many places in a short space of time. C3-PO was originally meant to say goodbye to R2 just after the speeders took off. Leia makes an announcement to speeder piots that their x-wings were being taken to the south slope for their escape off the planet which is something I never knew before also.

Brought this up to Ady a while back, and he feels that there's a passage of time between the scenes.

THINGS NOT BEING DONE:

   6. Not adding Luke's vision so it can be seen like Anakin's in ROTS.

What exactly does this mean? And what else does Ady have to work on in the edit? I looked back a few pages but didn't find a list or anything. Not trying to rush it out or anything, just curious.

In the OT we only see Luke reacting to what he saw in his head...we weren't party to the actual visions themselves. In the PT you get to see the visions. Ady isn't adding visions to the OT.

Asking for updates is one thing. We LOVE that people get as excited about this project as we do. Stating the amount of time since the last update like Ady is late on some sort of update schedule is another matter entirely. Ady doesn't owe anyone an update, no matter how little work you mistakenly think he has left to do. And anyone who says that some members aren't acting entitled is clearly not reading the same forum posts as I am......though thankfully it IS a matter of only a few people needing attitude adjustments.

The last Facebook "progress" update was in March.

The last project update (if you don't count the shield generator models being cast for sale to raise funds for Revisited) was on May 24th. People seem to think they are entitled to almost daily updates on this project and I fail to understand where this attitude comes from. This is Ady's hobby....something he does for fun.....not something he owes to anyone.

Amazing work of the new canyon sequence! Regarding the 2 versions though, I'm in the camp who prefers the crashes of the tie fighters in the first version (much more natural looking, more than "super-speed" crashes of the original), but I liked the rest of the changes in the second version (more noticeably the Falcon coming closer and faster towards the camera).

I agree with people who think the tie fighters could/should continue firing at the Falcon in the asteroid canyon, but not too much. I'm thinking it should happen only in that shot of the ships flying over head when first entering the canyon - just firing one shot each (at different times) may be just enough. In the next shot when the ties are about to crash, though, they don't need to be seen firing (at this point they're more focused on making it through the canyon, just as they weren't firing during most of the asteroid sequence).

I think the shots are fine as they are but if one did want to add a bit more dynamism to the camera movement, a bit of rotation could help. Here's a rough demonstration of the idea: http://uloz.to/xqKJtVAq/escape-from-hoth-revisited-mp4

I'm not one to diminish the incredible job Ady is doing with this edit, but THAT little motion just made what Ady did with the Canyon shot more…. WOW!

DEFINITELY adds to the incredible job Ady already did - as if that were possible - but your "rough" demonstration just puts it right over the top.

 +1

I hope Ady will consider this as well.

I definitely agree with this also. It's a subtle camera movement but makes a positive affect.

This is exactly how I feel as well.

During the part where Han says "I'm going in closer to one of the big ones", we see an outside shot of what is presumably the 'big one' in question.  However it seems to be approaching the Falcon at a speed indicative of something much smaller. I would suggest having it completely static, while the rest of the scenery moves around as normal, to convey size.

That is something that has always bothered me as well, and that is an excellent suggestion for fixing the issue. Even if it stays more stationary in that one shot, and the Falcon is shown reaching it in the next there is always the logical assumption of tiny jumps in time....something films do all over the place, and something that the SW films are definitely full of.

...other than Jango/Boba Fett bumping his head, THAT was just stupid ...

The troopers all being cloned from Jango (also the source for Boba), and the idea that they'd be genetically predisposed to not watch where they're going thereby rendering them prone to bumping their heads (because apparently Jango is clumsy)....the whole thing. ALL stupid.

Apologies for the derailment.

2 part question -

1. What is ady currently working on along the process?

2. What is there left to do?

 1. The Dagobah model to replace bad matte paintings in the background of some shots (and one ROTJ shot if I remember correctly).

2. Dagobah model, Han in Carbonite, Wampa, and a couple other tiny things that don't take much time, but require help that Ady is waiting on.

I just wish that we had a film where for the duration, Anakin was a skilled, devoted Jedi.

I could totally go for that, as long as he was shown as having some curiosity about certain things the Jedi preferred to leave untouched.....maybe right at the end of the film. Just a very light foreshadowing of him being "seduced by the dark side of the Force".

If I remember right, it was the idea to swap the order of those two SE shots, right? First show the outside shot of hundreds of people THEN show the interior hallway shot of the 3 persons. I would have preferred this order too, definitely. It makes more sense that people would stop and intently listen to his message after hearing more of what he was saying, rather than immediately at the beginning.

While that does make some amount of sense that was not my specific issue with the scene. The original has R2 plugging in and getting shocked immediately......the SE version now has a very lengthy amount of time between R2 deploying his interface tool (sounds dirty no matter how you say it), and finally plugging in. He literally sits there and does nothing the entire time Lando is making his speech....and they're supposed to be in a wicked hurry. They've also trimmed off a couple of seconds of R2 footage in which we see a very cool pulse of tiny lights on his interface tool.....another detail lost to shoddy SE editing.

Just bugs me and I'd have liked to have seen it restored....I even had someone (might have been JT) edit me up a clip that restored the original timing of everything while keeping the SE additions....and another that reduced the wait time before R2 finally plugs in to about half of what it is in the SE (just to have more than one option).....but the problem isn't a visual one, it's an audio one. The original, unaltered audio doesn't exist in enough separated channels for Ady to do a thing about it......most unfortunately.
