More OUT Rerelease Rumors from John Landis!
Time

I also think that it's important to add that there is NO controversy that would be brought about by releasing the OOT. Even fans who like the SE's probably would like to own a copy of the OOT. The only people who are actually opposed to the release of the OOT are a few losers on TFN. If both the SE and the OOT are released together then no significant amount of people are going to be angry at Disney, as opposed to the reaction they get when releasing the SE's on their own.

Or a penny pinching measure. You'd have to be in a cave to not know HD was going to be the new standard at the time.

Unless it had something to do with not wanting to restore the unaltered footage.

Maybe the reason the footage is currently unavailable is because it is being restored at the moment. I don't know if that really makes sense at all but who knows at this point? Nothing regarding Lucasfilm's business practices makes any kind of sense.

Fox has video distribution rights. I think they could play it in theaters without Fox's consent. V and VI could apparently be distributed digitally without Fox?

But I think an important point that people sometimes gloss over is: would Fox try to withhold this? Why would Fox try to withhold this? Would they simply not want to put money into it themselves? I can see why Disney might not want to go through with it until Fox's rights expire (or are otherwise dealt with for IV), but I can't quite see what Fox has to lose, here.

Fox would WANT this to happen because they only have a few years left to make money off of most of these films. Refusing to accept their distribution cut would literally just be turning down money for no reason at all. If anyone wanted to wait for some reason it would be Disney if they wanted to hold off until 2020 so they wouldn't have to give Fox a percentage on Empire and Jedi. I don't think that would happen though since the movies are all being released both physically and digitally.

On the front page of starwars.com: http://www.starwars.com/news/6-fascinating-behind-the-scenes-concepts-from-the-star-wars-trilogy-special-edition

Nevermind then. Han shooting first is also on their list of the most debated Star Wars issues so I guess they don't plan to ignore the OOT out of existence.

Of the general populace yes, but when you consider the people who would be willing to re-purchase the Star Wars movies they are a big audience. I think you're underestimating the demand for the OOT. Remember, we live in a world where there is enough demand to restore and release the Producers' Cut of Halloween 6. If there's demand for that, then there's demand for the OOT

While I do too hope this rumor is true, after watching the clip it almost sounds more like he was being sarcastic or assuming. I could be wrong. If this is indeed happening, I certainly will be psyched and it will make me more anxious for TFA!!!!

Empire claims that he said Lucas told him, and since they were at the event and tweeted that information they would literally have to be flat out lying if he didn't tell them that at some point so I imagine that we didn't see the full story in that clip on Youtube.

I'd love to hear what Landis himself said verbatim, but it seems that Empire magazine interpreted his statement as being the original versions specifically.

Sure, but Landis is already not the first speaker in that game of telephone.  He heard it from Lucas.  Lucas may have said "the original trilogy--yes, John, THE original classic films that started the whole thing, back in 1977, with no changes at all to what I intended all those years ago".  A normal person could walk out of there thinking Star Wars was finally going to get a decent home video release and say that to the press without reservations, but in Lucas-speak, that just means a new 2016 Specialer Edition where Yoda is now CGI.

I don't think for one second that Disney would allow more changes to the trilogy due to the backlash it gets every time it happens. I could see Disney sweeping it under the rug, continuing to release the 2011 SEs, and then never mentioning the OOT ever again, but adding even more changes I just can't see them doing.

I'm cautiously optimistic, but lets not assume that just because it's unaltered that the color timing will be correct.

Imagine if they just edit out the changes from the current blu rays but keep their color timing.

Editing the changes out would probably be a lot more work than just using prints of the original films, especially since a lot of the changes involve different compositing as well as the removal of entire scenes completely.

It may be hard, but you have to do what you have to do.  Try to end your employment amicably, help them know you don't mean to be unreliable, and let them know you appreciate them.  Put in your two weeks, or even three or four so they know you are doing your best not to shortchange them.  Tough it out a little longer and you haven't burned a bridge while still getting out.  Good luck!

Well I gave my notice and am just waiting patiently for it to end. The person was actually really easy to talk to and they didn't seem too irritated or surprised (I think this place has a high turn over). Everytime I go to work someone else has quit by just not showing up so they're probably thankful that I at least told them I was going to quit

The best classic rock album of all time.
Time

A few of my favorite classic rock albums are Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band & Rubber Soul by the Beatles, Born to Run by Bruce Springsteen, Disraeli Gears by Cream, Station to Station by David Bowie, and Led Zeppelin II IV/Zoso/Symbols/The Hermit/Untitled (whatever you choose to call it). There're dozens if not hundreds of others that I really like as well but those are just a few of my favorites.

The Place to Go for Emotional Support
Time

Well this isn't an emotional problem but it is certainly a predicament. I'm in a position where I'm going to need to quit the job that I started just 3 weeks ago because I absolutely HATE it! (for reasons that I won't go into detail). In spite of hating the job, I do really like and respect my co-workers and superiors, and feel bad that I've ultimately wasted their time by quitting after the training. Not to mention that they'll also have to go through the process of interviewing and hiring again once I leave. I will give them a two week notice but am having trouble motivating myself to do that even though I know that it's more courteous to give the notice as soon as possible because of how uncomfortable that will be. It's a strange situation, but the one thing I know for sure is that this job is already a huge detriment to my physical and mental health and it absolutely MUST be quit as soon as possible because it is a horrible experience.

Ask the member of the Latin Rite of the Roman Catholic Church AKA Interrogate the Catholic ;)

What do you think about the infallibility of the Pope? Are all Popes throughout history infallible or are there any that the Church rejects? By the way, a friend of mine had a lot of respect for Pope John Paul II and would refer to him as possibly the "greatest" Pope, but if all of them are infallible then how can any one be better than the other if all of their papal actions were divinely inspired.

Well, I had a very near death experience while driving. I was stopped at a traffic light and the green arrows came up, and once they disappeared I just start driving forward and didn't realize until I'm in the intersection that the light was still red because an ambulance was coming down the road (IDK how but I didn't hear its sirens) so I sped up really quickly and just barely get to the other side before he would've hit me. There are no red light cameras in my area so it's not like I'm afraid of getting a ticket in the mail (I'd probably feel better if there were some fine I had to pay for my foolishness), but I'm more just guilty because I could've easily gotten myself killed and prevented the ambulance from getting to where it needed to be. Thankfully it's over and everything is ok and nothing happened but I still feel pretty horrible for my own carelessness and stupidity.

After the GOUT was released Lucas seemed to have lightened up a lot on his whole, "only one version can exist" stance. He seemed to transition into a mindset in which he just had no interest in "wasting" his time and money doing something he had no desire to do. When the blu rays were released he even said in an interview that the reason the OOT wasn't restored was simply because the SE's needed to get priority because the restoration process was so time-consuming and expensive. I doubt he's too concerned anymore.

By the way, as terrible as the GOUT was, he did allow the OOT to be made available in a large-scale release on DVD. If he truly still wanted all copies of the OOT to deteriorate and be lost forever, he simply would not have released those bonus discs.

If you need to B*tch about something... this is the place
Time

I got really sick and felt like I was going to pass out at work and had to leave about an hour before I was supposed to. I don't feel guilty because I know that I absolutely had to leave, but I still can't help but be worried that they think I was lying or something. Not to mention that I'm only a few weeks into the job so it's an unfortunate thing to have happen that early on. There was no work that needed to be done really so it wasn't a huge deal in the long run.

I've met a lot of atheists that are pretty religious in their beliefs and are very divisive. For example, I have an atheist facebook friend that CONSTANTLY posts things about atheism/anti-theism. I also used to be the same way when I was an atheist. Atheism by definition is not a religion, but there are a lot of people who are very evangelical in their atheistic beliefs.

Rumor is that the most notorious '97 change, Greedo shooting first, has actually been switched back to its original 1977 form in the 4k SE, giving it a kind of "final cut" status.

I have no faith at all in this rumor. The single person who said this said it would be the case for the previous digital release, and then said "oops I mean it's a later release probably" (paraphrased). They had access to a release that's highly under wraps and had no idea what they were watching? Probably just a fan edit or lie.

Not to mention that he also had stated before this his 'sources' told him that Fox owned the entirety of A New Hope (not just the perpetual distribution rights) as well as an unwillingness to release the OOT while Lucas was alive, which contradicted at least one article before that in which he stated that Disney would release the OOT.
