I used to live in 1996.
I used to live in 1996.
Since nothing from the franchise other than imagery and plot elements from the classic films has any mainstream appeal, I don’t see why they wouldn’t do a reimagining of existing films someday.
Cars are heavily regulated, but pretty much anyone can drive them, no matter how incompetent.
You don’t have driving tests to determine competency? You don’t have driving licenses that the courts can revoke due to mental incompetence, physical disability, or dangerous behaviour?
Our tests are formalities.
Diet soda makes me nauseous.
It is excellent and reads faster than most books that are a third of Its size.
Based on your posts you can’t be that old. I think of old as being elderly, but maybe that just means that I’m old.
Yikes, that’s a hard one to miss.
I also like a lot of people on this forum. How do you like them apples?
Most real people you know, but ok.
I can sense it from people. But there are some decent real people that I know too, though.
I normally hate this argument, but in this case it works. Cars are extremely deadly, yet people deemed fit (low standards here) to operate them have a right to them.
Few things… First, cars are not weapons. Second, cars are heavily regulated. Third, I’d gladly not have a car if I didn’t need one.
Cars are heavily regulated, but pretty much anyone can drive them, no matter how incompetent. Why not just heavily regulate guns? Is necessity what determines whether a dangerous thing should be banned? Should people in cities with effective public transportation have to face a committee to deem whether or not they need a car enough to be legally allowed to own one?
I predict…
Looks like just another one of the many examples of why I hate people with such an insuppressible intensity that it’s overwhelming. He’s not special, just as despicable as about 7 billion other people.
I know you won’t believe this based on your personal experience, and in a way I don’t blame you, but internet forums are not a good representative sample of the population at-large.
Eh, they’re often more proudly obnoxious and their illiteracy is on clear display, but other than that they’re rarely any different than most real people.
The Dark Knight is the only Batman movie I enjoy.
EDIT: That’s far too harsh actually. I meant that The Dark Knight is the only one that is really rewatchable for me. I’m not much of a superhero guy though.
Sometimes I wonder if I’m even a Star Wars fan anymore.
Elements from the OT which continue to resonate with me:
- The visuals.
- The main protagonists.
- Luke’s story.
- The music.
Otherwise, I feel I’ve outgrown it all and probably did years ago. A series about white hat heroes battling black hat villains in a swashbuckling setting just doesn’t hold enduring appeal to someone who constantly wishes in their heart of hearts that Ingmar Bergman had created the films instead.
I feel the exact same way. I think the new Disney marketing blitz doesn’t help. I find it hard now to even think of Star Wars films as real movies because Star Wars as a brand is just everywhere. I think of Star Wars like I think of Sprite or Windex. Just a product.
Good…to be honest I feel that star wars will be remembered while the shit you like will be forgotten much like you
I didn’t even see this one. Damn!
I know. Not capitalizing Star Wars is pretty awful. It’s sad how he just has no respect for such a classic film.
I have been told that the English language doesn’t quite capture the beauty of haiku as an art form the way Japanese does.
Dammit.

I don’t associate Star Wars with pleasant things anymore. I’m sorry that I feel that way. Oh wait, no I’m not. I think it’s a great film but I just can’t take it seriously anymore.
Don’t let the door hit you on your way out
“I’m not going anywhere.”
24 hours to be exact.
Yeah that’s probably true. I still think they’re great I just don’t feel in to them if you know what I mean.
I had ROTJ for Gameboy too. It was tough if I recall, but I have a feeling I finished it back in the day, if not a distinct memory of what the ending was…
I never even made it past the Jabba boss fight. I don’t think I owned it though so I probably just borrowed it and didn’t get far.
I’ll admit, coming from Canada, it’s hard for me to appreciate some of the minutiae of American gun culture. Part of it is from living in rural communities, but there’s not even the same feeling of being threatened that I hear Americans have, regardless of where they live. Hell, my family rarely locks the doors. While we have a rifle, we’d probably miss it more for the sentimental value my dad carries with it than because of feeling threatened. My dad prefers hunting via falconry nowadays.
Ironically, part of the feeling of being threatened comes from the fact that so many have guns.

Anything?
With alcohol? No.
RocketMan (1997) – ★★1/2 (of ☆☆☆☆)
I feel kind of bad giving this film under three stars (as Ebert did), but I can’t help but also be bothered by giving it all three stars.
That’s why I don’t rate movies with arbitrary scales.
I can’t drink.
