You know what makes me more uncomfortable? The fact that the word was ever used at all, now that makes me uncomfortable. Can’t fault the book.

Not to mention that the book was incredibly progressive for its time, and I think it’s still inspirational today. (Although I’ll admit that it’s been years since I’ve read it myself.) Context is important. The mere use of the word shouldn’t offend people when the context is proper. People can’t comprehend context though, because most people are incredibly stupid.

This is the kind of stuff I’m talking about when I say that too much stock is given to people’s feelings. It isn’t just that I’m callous and uncaring, it’s also that it interferes with important things like education. I think about the books I read in school (although admittedly most of them I read on my own volition) that changed my life for the better and a lot of them were had “uncomfortable” material in them. That’s often what makes a work of art impactful.

I’ve got no problems with them reimagining the design, I just think it looks pretty poor.

Anyone over the age of at most 12 should prefer football to My Little Pony.

Eh, he could’ve looked it up if he wanted to. Anyone offended by a classic book like To Kill a Mockingbird for any reason is a fool in my opinion. It’s a great example of how most people are incapable of seeing past surface level things in art. But why would I expect anything different?

Oh I don’t doubt that, and I was joking to an extent. That said, I don’t think I could handle watching My Little Pony in a theatre.

I actually have to agree with Malá on that. Anakin killing the separatists was a lot more brutal than anything that happened in Rogue One. I’d still rather watch R1 than the PT.

I’m not too hung up on it, but the new ones look a lot worse than the old ones. They look really lame and so ugly that there’s little human qualities in them.

Yeah, they’re horrible. All Star Wars cover art has been pretty terrible since about 1997, but the Faces art was even worse than the 2000 art in my opinion.

Would this movie just be about Kenobi lounging around his hut for decades talking to Qui Gon’s ghost? That’s the official canon established in Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith.

If censorship happens, it’ll most likely be from the MPAA here in the US firsr, then that censored cut will be the “official” cut and would be the version that gets sent to the BBFC and other countries. So if the BBFC cuts anything, it’s possible that it would actually be twice-censored…

I can’t imagine that any Disney Star Wars movie would contain a shred of content warranting an R rating.

No. Episode III had some shreds of content fitting for an R rated film. I’m not bashing Disney, I see no need for an R rated Star Wars movie.

That’s exactly what happened.

I don’t think so. He already posted an explanation of what happened, and while he could be pulling our leg he is correct that it has happened before. If the OP has his post deleted then the next post becomes the OP and thus is listed as the author even if they weren’t. I don’t remember any details about the thread or who the posters were but I am certain I remember it happening before.

It didn’t say who was complaining. Maybe the complaints came from people that never evolved past Mississippi back in the 60s.

The spinoffs should be a way for them to experiment with other genres. They kind of did that with Rogue One.
