The Force Awakens: Official Review Thread - ** SPOILERS **
Time

The repetition is boring no matter what. Objectively, this post would be just as pointless:

“Star Wars is one of the best films ever. It is a true classic. The story is fantastic and excellent.”

It’s just more loathsome and sickening to read, “This film is shit. I guess I see how some people like it but it’s because they can’t comprehend why the film is shit.”

Beautifully done sig, Handman - really nice work 😃

Re your post… (and apologies if you’ve heard this before…)

Have you considered volunteering in the community - doing a few hours in a charity store, or for a project. Are you interested in team sport or going to gym etc? Perhaps a chess or games club? Even going to a local library and seeing what’s going on in the community etc?

These may help you focus on something positive - and also increase your chances of meeting people - hopefully some like-minded people.

Volunteering or getting a second job (or getting a better job if possible) is a good way to meet people. The only people I speak to face to face other than family are work people and I like most of them. I hate clubs and organizations and I can’t explain why so I wouldn’t recommend Handman do that. I think it’s because those are specifically meant to be social situations, whereas work is just a place that you happen to be together at while doing something else.

I just don’t care much about those little things. They can be fun to nitpick when the plot and characters are bad. No one should’ve cared if Slave 1 were blue in AOTC if the movie was good, but since it wasn’t, we might as well complain about that. If STD is good, then I no reason to complain about the little things. If it isn’t good, then why not. I haven’t seen Discovery yet but I have high hopes. I’ll just watch it as its own thing.

I know you’re joking a bit, but that’s because those were supposed to be directly telling the backstory to existing films. If they were a completely different series that had basically nothing to do with the OT, it’d be different. Also, I’m all in favor of complaining about plot contradictions in terms of the STD and the original timeline, just not the fact that they redesigned. I don’t even mind complaining about the poor (IMO) redesign, just not the fact that they redesigned it itself.

I shouldn’t be talking because I’ve dedicate countless days, maybe even months, of my life to watching and rewatching Star Trek. I love it. I get emotional, sometimes to the point of shedding a tear, over how positive of an effect Star Trek has had on my life, but Warbler, you’re getting hung up on little things. Star Trek’s timeline doesn’t exist at all, Kelvin or original, because it is fiction. If the new stuff bothers you, don’t watch it, or watch it and complain about how shitty it is, but don’t complain about how it is inconsistent within a timeline that is already inconsistent in many ways.

Why ImpsCum hasn’t been banned is beyond me.

Unlike you (with this name-calling), I am not breaking forum rules.

Yeah, but you’ve been excessively annoying, since… well, when you first signed up here, from what I’ve heard.

Actually not really, I think it’s just a shtick he’s developed in recent years for “comedy.” I’ve also had a pm conversation with him that was perfectly pleasant. I think for some misguided reason he just finds it amusing to post that way.

That’s why I refer to it as trolling.
