The Silent Film Thread
Time

I watched two silent films, one masterpiece and one wretched bore of a film. Nosferatu, which was wonderful and I can’t wait to see it again, and Birth of a Nation, which was, as we all know, full of racism and revisionist history, but was also astoundingly boring. I get that it’s the first big war movie epic, and I suppose it was pretty impressive in that sense, but overall I wasn’t impressed. I will say that the assassination of Lincoln was a really well-done and eery scene. That was probably the only scene I found moving, but it was primarily just because of how creepy it was to see that on screen in such a racist film. Nosferatu was great, though.

Another example of Christian opposition to freedom:

https://www.lgbtqnation.com/2018/09/anti-lgbtq-protesters-swarmed-library-protest-drag-queen-story-hour/

If you call the normalization of mental illnesses freedom, then sure.

Dressing in drag is mental illness? Whatever education your seminary is giving you is not in accordance with reality.

Gender dysphoria is contagious among certain segments of the population, so I have a hard time believing that it’s normal and healthy to believe you’re in the wrong body. What happened to telling people to be happy with their body and the way they are?

What does any of that have to do with the Christians against those libraries? The library readings were just drag queens reading to an audience of children. Are you arguing that public libraries not allow that to happen?

If it is perceived as callous too bad. Whatever suffering whichever women have gone through is not my fault. People shouldn’t be offended at the mere mention that it is possible that two women we have never seen or hear of before and know nothing about could have been put up to what they did yesterday. I can’t believe I even have to be explaining that!

If I said that it’s possible that the Jewish globalist conspiracy faked Sandy Hook in order to steal people’s guns, would you still defend that statement as just a possibility, too bad if it’s insulting? Oh, that’s right, you pretend not to read my posts so I won’t get a response to this. And your victim card is a joke that no one is buying, just so you know.

I was making fun of the crisis actor theory, which is a ludicrous and misogynist theory that should be made fun of.

Specifically, a crisis actor theory that Warbler irresponsibly put forward. I say irresponsible because it minimizes and insults these women and any women (and any men) who are survivors of sexual assault, and it disgusted me to read his comments. That’s why I posted what I did. Hopefully there are no survivors among us (either members or lurkers) who had to read that nonsense. But apparently we’re no better than Alex Jones here, who put forward the same theory about the Sandy Hook children. No one who bothered to watch the emotion those women displayed should be able to even question their sincerity. Might as well question if Dr. Ford is also an actor.

I’m sure there are victims that read that nonsense. In fact, it’s almost statistically impossible that of the hundreds of people that read this site, no one is a survivor. I’m also really glad you brought up the Sandy Hook comparison. That’s actually what I was going to compare it to. So I guess I’m not glad that you brought it up because you stole my thunder.

I could have phrased my disgust more specifically the first time, or more civilly if you prefer, but I stand by the sentiment.

I don’t think that ideas like crisis actors pretending to be rape victims (or crisis actors pretending to be mass-shooting survivors), Sandy Hook trutherism, 9/11 was a controlled demolition, Pizzagate, Satanist daycares, Q-Anon, Hurricane Maria’s death toll being a fabrication, climate change is a hoax, or countless other imbecilic and insulting conspiracies should ever be given a dignified response. I think that it would’ve been irresponsible of you to not ridicule such a revolting theory, because if you had just done what everyone suggested, which is legitimize it as though it’s a reasonable point of view, then it would be a disservice to everyone involved in the conversation and everyone that relates to the issue. Good on you.

Ignoring the he-said-she-said aspect of this currently, I’m simply stunned at how ridiculously partisan Kavanaugh sounded during the hearing.

I would expect anyone being considered for the Supreme Court to be a little less partisan.

Why would you expect that? Honestly, I’m curious why. SCOTUS picks are the most partisan things a President can do.

i can’t help but wonder if all the senators are really senators or just some sort of actor.

Pretty sure they are all really senators. It is kinda difficult to fake being a senator. They each have to run for state wide election. Their faces are well known in their states.

Any female can say they are a sexual assault survivor.

yeah, they love to play the victim, am i right?

I don’t know what your point is. We know nothing about this woman that confronted the Senator. We have no idea if she is a victim or sexual assault or not. She could be some nut. Or someone in the Dems put her up to it. Who knows.

Ahahahahaha holy shit Warbler.

Thanks for your thoughtful response and attempt to engage in meaningful dialogue. Exactly what this thread has been missing.

10/10

What would be the point? Warbler isn’t known for meaningful dialogue in this thread. And how do you even respond to any of those posts? They’re ridiculous.

the important thing is that women have to earn the right to be believed, am i right?

I don’t think anyone has the right to be believed.

I support citizens confronting their bought-and-paid-for, fraudulent representatives.

I doubt that the lady who confronted him is from Arizona.

His votes still have the power to disrupt all of our lives.

Yeah, but he represents the overwhelmingly conservative state of Arizona. He’s more beholden to them than some lady who corners him in a elevator.

When you physically block the elevator, you’ve crossed the line.

Lol, what a weak line. “It’s okay as long as you don’t block an elevator. That’s just going too far!” What a joke.
