Star Wars Rebels Recut - A Fanedit TV Series
Time

I think your movie idea here is a good one. But, it might be cool to do both. Hear me out. My thinking here is, edit it as a series to fit in with the rest of your series, but also do your movie edit. For the series, keep the full screen and same style opening and text as the rest of your series. For your movie, do the cropping, film grain, a more traditional style opening crawl. And in this crawl, recap the entire series (as best as can be done in a single crawl), so the movie can be watched as a standalone. Rebels is great and a lot of people won’t give it a chance because of the animation style and the commitment it would require to watch it all. A single standalone movie, that is more cinematic, may attract more viewers and they may be persuaded to go back and start at the beginning and watch the entire series. Just a thought.

Secret Invasion: The Movie Cut
Time

I was looking for an edit of Secret Invasion to mix in with my Marvel rewatches, and there just aren’t many out there, surprisingly. Is it so terrible that it’s not even worth the trouble? Maybe, some probably think so, but I don’t think I do. It’s not good, but there is some good in there, buried under the bad. So, since I couldn’t find a good edit to watch, I thought I’d give it a shot myself. So here it is, Secret Invasion: The Movie Cut. And believe it or not, I think I may have made this into a pretty good movie.

This show had many issues, but my biggest gripe was the terrible big CGI fight scene at the end, so that is gone. And Super Skrulls are gone too. I also didn’t much care for the Fury/Priscilla relationship, so she is gone as well… completely.

The good? Good performances by Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Don Cheadle and especially Olivia Colman. A good villain (up until the big CGI fight). Good Fury and Talos chemistry. The back and forth between Fury and Rhodey. The ambush on the president. And Sonya, I hope we see more of her.

Spoilers?! I’m not going to spoiler tag this, because it has been out for a year, but if you want to go in to the edit with some surprise, stop reading now and DM for link.

-The high level, main changes in this edit are:
• No Fury promise. It is mentioned once, but that is referencing the Captain Marvel movie, not this movie/show.
• No Priscilla/Varra at all
• No mention of Super Skrulls
• Gravik does not have powers. They are working on the machine, but it is not complete.
• No Harvest, it exists in theory, but who has it? Who knows.
• G’iah gives herself Extremis powers only. If she shows up in later movies with powers, it is implied that she got more powers than she intended or knew about at the time.
• Gravik is killed by Beto, who is working for Fury and Talos.
• No “G’iah is Fury” twist.
• No bad CGI fight scene.
More detailed changes, these are broken up by the original episodes.
-Episode 1:
• This episode had the fewest changes. I actually like this episode. It’s pretty good, maybe not great, but pretty good, so the changes to it are mostly for time.
• Removed the “present day” from the opening Moscow title card. This entire movie takes place in present day.
• The long, weird, slow opening title sequence was shortened from 2:06 (which felt like 5) to about 43 seconds.
• The cutaway to Rhodey and President Ritson was removed. I think this scene was there just to establish Rhodey in the first episode, it is otherwise pointless.
• Removed the scene of Fury and Maria Hill in the bar.
-Episode 2:
• Removed the opening scenes from Captain Marvel, 1995.
• Removed the flashback to 1997, the “promise”.
• Removed the scene on the train with Fury and Talos.
• Removed Maria’s body arriving in London and the scenes with her mom and Fury.
• In Gravik’s meeting with the council, removed all mention of Fury’s promise.
• When G’iah is sneaking information from the computer, removed most of the superheroes that are shown. Now it focuses mostly on Extremis.
• Removed Fury going home to Priscilla/Varra. She is completely removed in this edit.
-Episode 3:
• In Gravik’s second meeting with the council members, removed the mention of “Super Skrulls.” He does say “we need to become super”, but the term Super Skrull is never mentioned.
• Removed a flashback of Fury and Priscilla/Varra, then also a scene of Fury and Priscilla/Varra at their home.
• Removed a scene of Gravik and G’iah talking about a mole in their group.
• In the meeting between Gravik and Talos, removed Gravik healing from Talos stabbing his hand. Gravik is not super in this cut. He is a Skrull, so he is stronger and heals faster than a human, but he is not super.
• Removed the scene of Talos and Fury in the restaurant. Without the scene on the train, there is no need for this scene, they do not need to make up from their fight.
• On the phone with Sonya, removed mention of Fury apologizing to Talos.
• In the car ride with Fury and Talos, removed large chunks of their conversation. Talos says that everything Fury has done is due to his help. This takes away from the years of badassery from Fury, I did not like that.
• Removed Priscilla/Varra scene at the end, getting a text and going to get a gun.
-Episode 4:
• Removed another flashback of Fury and Priscilla/Varra.
• Removed Priscilla/Varra meeting with Rhodey.
• Removed the conversation between Talos and G’iah on the bench.
• Removed the scene when Fury goes home and confronts Priscilla/Varra, and they make up.
• Removed Skrull Rhodey in the shower. This keeps the mystery a little longer, is he a Skrull?
• In the ambush on the president, removed two instances of Gravik having powers.
-Episode 5:
• In Gravik’s meeting with the Skrulls, removed multiple mentions of Varra. Removed Gravik killing Pagon with Groot power. Added gunshot sound effect. So, now Gravik shots him instead of killing him with a Groot type arm.
• Removed the scene where Beto and the other Skrulls try to kill Gravik (moved to later).
• Altered Fury’s meeting with G’iah to remove mentions of Priscilla and to remove talk of going to Finland.
• Removed a scene with G’iah and Priscilla.
• Removed the phone call between Fury and Gravik.
• Removed another scene with G’iah and Priscilla.
• Removed Fury traveling, he does not go to Finland.
• Removed another scene with G’iah and Priscilla.
• Fury meets with Sonya in the car. During their conversation, removed mention of Super Skrulls and when talking about the Harvest, Fury never says that he actually has it.
• When they get to the graveyard, it is not to retrieve the Harvest, Fury goes straight to get his coat, eyepatch and gun. Fury makes a phone call and says, “Let’s finish this.” Cut to Beto and his attempt on Gravik, and he succeeds. It is meant to imply that the call was to Beto, and he has been working with Fury all along (and working for Talos as well). If you pay attention throughout the series (now movie), Beto is always giving looks, eyeing Gravik, this is because he has been plotting the whole time.
-Episode 6:
• Gravik is gone, he is dead. Many scenes were removed.
• Fury’s phone call to Priscilla was removed.
• The whole G’iah is Fury switcharoo is gone, it was such a bad reveal.
• The terrible CGI fight scene is gone, it was so bad.
• Fury going home to talk to Priscilla was removed.
• Removed the scene where Sonya recruits G’iah.
• At the end, Priscilla/Varra does not show up and go with Fury.

And many other small changes throughout. Too many to list, too many to count. I pulled in every trick that I had to (hopefully) make this a good movie.

The 4 hour and 20 minute series is now a 2 hour and 22 minute movie.

BONUS! Yes, I know this whole post is about the “Secret Invasion Movie Cut”, but for those few that would like to keep it as a series, I broke it up into a four episode series, down from the original six. The series is the same as the movie, just broken up and added openings and end credits. I did this because I personally prefer it as a series. I think it is paced better as a series and a couple of the transitions work better than they do in the movie format, to end an ep and then begin the next.

Available in a couple different formats and file sizes.

The Acolyte - Series
Time

This is my take on The Acolyte. There are already, and will likely be countless more edits of The Acolyte from a series into a movie. This is not one of those edits. This is an edit of the series, into a slightly shorter series, by someone that actually liked the show quite a bit.

There are a couple things about this show that I did not like and I wanted to address.
-Too many wipes! It seems like there is a wipe every 30 seconds, and sometimes in the middle of a scene, wiping into the same scene.
-The brightness seems like it was cranked up to 11. The whole show just looked bright and washed out to me.
-I did not like episode 3 at all (the first flashback episode).
-The length of some episodes were very short.

To fix some of these issues, the changes include:
-The wipes have been reduced by about 75% (this is a guess, no math was involved in this, haha). The wipes that felt very wrong were removed, the wipes that felt right stayed. A couple new ones were added. And there was one or two that I didn’t like, but they stayed because there wasn’t a good way to remove them.
-The entire series has the brightness adjusted scene by scene,
-The two flashback episodes were combined into one episode. This new episode has by far the most editing of this series. The child acting was pretty bad, which is a big part of what I did not like about ep3, so they have been reduced quite a bit. Originally the episodes were 42 minutes each, 84 minutes total. It is now one 62 minute episode.
-Episodes 4 and 5 were combined into one episode. If you don’t count the previously on and the end credits each were only 27 mins, way too short. Now combined, with some trims, it is a 52 minute fantastic episode.

Along with those big changes, there are many trims throughout. A few of them are:
-Ep1, No fire in space.
-Ep1, The bar owner from the beginning fight scene did not travel with the Jedi to identify Osha as the killer.
-Kelnacca’s scenes from the end of ep2 and beginning of ep4 have been combined into one scene.
-Multiple eps, The locals on Khofar have been removed completely.
-Ep4, Osha and Jecki’s goodbye chat removed.

And many more!

The entire series combined was 308 minutes, my edit is 272 minutes. Originally 8 episodes, my cut is 6 episodes.

1080p, 5.1 surround.

Full essential Saga rewatch
Time

I do highly recommend EddieDean’s Clone Wars Refocused as the perfect version of Clone Wars. But if your looking for an even shorter version that covers the essentials, maybe look at the Clone Wars portions of my “Star Wars: The Series” edit here https://originaltrilogy.com/topic/Star-Wars-The-Series/id/94689#1486062. My edit also includes Rebels, although if you have never seen Rebels I say watch it in full, it is very good. But for a shorter version, or an “essentials” version, you could watch mine.

The possession part of the meeting the Jedi scene doesn’t work very well with integrating the two episodes, would be interested in seeing if/how someone pulls that off.

I did this and I think I got it to work pretty well. I edited so that it goes back and forth between the possession sort of dream world and the real world.

The Mandalorian - Bailey's Version
Time

Most edits of The Mandalorian turn it into a movie or try to change it drastically. This is not one of those edits, this is The Mandalorian for those who like The Mandalorian mostly, but want an easier rewatch.
This edit aims to do a couple different things.

  1. Shorten The Mandalorian for easier rewatches by removing some filler.
  2. Make The Book of Boba Fett better (or at least not terrible).
  3. Extend the time that Mando and Grogu are apart.

Editing details:
Each episode has the chapter and number removed and the “previously on” removed.

Part 1 - Season 1 of Mando, plus some of The Book of Boba Fett.

  1. The Mandalorian – No changes, this is a perfect episode in my mind.
  2. The Child – Minimal changes.
  3. The Sin – Remove mention of conserving the whistling birds, he seems to have plenty of them.
  4. Stranger in a Strange Land – The flashbacks of the first two eps of Book of Boba Fett.
  5. The Gunslinger – Minor changes throughout. Added the scene from “The Prisoner” where Mando gives the child the ball from the lever.
  6. The Sands of Tatooine – The flashbacks of the 3rd and 4th eps of Boba Fett. Boba taking Fennec to the mod parlor removed, we cut from Boba saving her, to her waking up by the fire.
  7. The Prisoner – References to Mando only being invited for use of his ship removed. The big red guy is toned way down. No shot of the bad guys in the cell at the end because Mando killed them all. Removed the scene at the end where Mando gives the child the ball from the lever.
  8. The Reckoning – Minimal changes.
  9. The Redemption – Minimal changes.

Along with the changes above, the episode “The Sanctuary” was removed completely. The only thing worthwhile that happens in this episode is Mando meets Cara Dune, in my edit they already know each other.

Part 2 - Season 2 of Mando.

  1. The Marshal – Minor changes throughout. Cob Vanth telling the story of how he got the armor removed. The beginning of the original second episode “The Passenger” moved to the end of this episode.
  2. The Covert – A big chunk of “The Passenger” added to this episode. After the Razor Crest falls through the ice, we cut everything from there to the wake-up with the spiders crawling on the Crest. No hot tubs, no talking through the droid, none of that crap. There is quite a lot of editing in this episode, too much to list every detail. Once we leave this planet, the ep is the original “The Heiress” with only minor changes.
  3. The Siege – The Child in school removed. Captain Teva investigating, and Cara Dune being recruited to the New Republic removed.
  4. The Jedi – No changes, great ep in my opinion.
  5. The Tragedy – Fennec running across the tops of rocks while getting shot at trimmed/removed. Why would she not just jump down behind them? Scene of Mando and Cara talking about Mayfeld moved to the next episode.
  6. The Believer – Scene of Mando and Cara talking about Mayfeld from previous ep, moved to this ep.
  7. The Rescue – Deepfake Luke added.

Part 3 - Season 3 of Mando, plus some of The Book of Boba Fett.

  1. The New Daimyo of Mos Espa – The “present day” scenes of Boba Fett eps 1-4 heavily edited, too much to list. No mod gang in this edit.
  2. The Apostate – “The Return of the Mandalorian” ep of Boba Fett, edited into a Mandalorian episode. Removes Boba references, namely Fennec recruiting Mando at the end.
  3. In the Name of Honor – Eps 6-7 of Boba, heavily edited, too much to list it all. No Grogu. Minimal Mando. End battle heavily trimmed. The original battle was pretty terrible, and I tried to remedy that the best I could. No mod gang! Very little Free Town folks. No reunion between Mando and Grogu.
  4. The Convert – Only the Coruscant portion of the original “The Convert”. The Mando portions of the original version were moved to episode 6 or 7. This ep was moved up in the timeline, so that along with no Grogu in Boba Fett, this adds more time that Mando and Grogu are apart.
  5. The Padawan – The Grogu episodes of Book of Boba Fett and the Grogu portions of “The Foundling” from Mando season 3 combined to create one Grogu focused episode. Luke showing Grogu his memories and the memory scene from The Foundling combined into one sequence.
  6. The Mines of Mandalore – See number 7 below.
  7. The Pirate – Eps 6 & 7 are a combo of season 3 eps 1-6. The Foundling, The Convert and Guns for Hire are mostly removed. But this is where it is a little fuzzy. I started with Smudger9’s movie edit of season 3, I took some more out, added some stuff back that they took out. Moved a bunch around. This was over a year ago. I went back to my timeline to try to make a change list, but it is a jumbled mess, but trust me, it is way better now. Haha!
  8. The Spies – The portions of “Guns for Hire” where Bo-Katan and Mando visit the other Mandalorians on Plazir-15 is moved to the beginning of this ep and the rest of the original “The Spies” plays out with no other changes.
  9. The Return – Minimal changes.

In the DL file you will see there are episodes labeled as skippable, these are optional, up to you. They are basically filler episodes that I like even though they are filler. This is edited in a way that these somewhat filler episodes can be skipped without missing anything important. Anything important is moved to a different episode. This includes basically all of Book of Boba Fett too. I don’t recommend it, but it can be skipped. Boba Fett isn’t good but has some good moments. The Mando and Grogu stuff is all turned into Mando episodes. Also, if Boba Fett is skipped, it adds to the mystery of Boba Fett, which is cool.
This turns the 31 episodes of Mando and Boba into 25 episodes, or 18 episodes if you skip the skippable ones. This reduces it from 1,578 minutes to 1,037 minutes, or 746 minutes if you skip the skippable ones.

TL;DR - the basic gist is -
Some filler episodes removed. The important stuff from the filler eps (or skippable eps) was moved to other eps.

The Clone Wars: Refocused [COMPLETE] + bonus Quinlan Vos episode by g00b!
Time

I use Mega and I like it a lot, much better than Google Drive and everything else I’ve tried. The amount of space you get versus what it costs is the best I’ve found (for the amount that I need).

g00b said:

The limits on mega can be avoided if you use an internet downloader rather then Megas download software itself or in built browser downloaders.

You can also get around the download limit by using a VPN, this is what I did before buying a subscription. I have a couple of very large edits and have been asked by people if I could upload to GD so they can download and I tell them about the vpn workaround, and it has worked for them.

Andor: The Movie Omnibus (Nothing Cut!) [Season Two in progress with NFBisms]
Time

I’m currently through the first three movies. I absolutely loved all three of them. Great work!

The only note I really have is in the third movie (and it is minor). When Syril sees the news on the tv about the Aldhani heist, it is 45 minutes into the movie. By this time, Andor has already been back home to see Maarva and Bix, and gone again. Then he’s on Niamos and seems to have been there a while. He has a place that he is living and with a girl, and talking about grocery shopping. They seem pretty settled in. All this has happened and when Syril sees the news, and it is presented as “breaking news”. I know there is no way to rearrange scenes, but if the news could be reframed as more of a news story than a “breaking” news story it would help that.

Keep up the great work EddieDean!

Keeping the surprise until TLJ is the way to go. You can’t giveaway the biggest twist of the sequel trilogy in the first sentence of a crawl for a movie Luke is barely in.

I guess you’re not getting what I’m saying. I’m not talking about what needs to be there, I’m talking about what doesn’t need to be there. It is saying that he is doing one thing, but also that he has vanished, in the same sentence. Both things cannot be true at the same time. It needs to say that he WAS doing a thing, but now he isn’t because he has vanished. The wording just doesn’t make any sense.

The Force Awakens: Starlight (V1.1 Released!)
Time

It is a time of despair.
Luke Skywalker, striving
to reforge the legendary
Jedi Order, has vanished.

Saying that Luke is “striving” to reforge the Jedi order is saying that he is currently doing this, in the present tense. He is not, he is in hiding currently. I think this needs to be reworded to be in the past tense.

It is a time of despair.
After failing to restore
the legendary Jedi Order,
Luke Skywalker has vanished.

I’m not a writer, so mine isn’t necessarily good either, haha. But that’s just my quick thought.
