But, in all fairness, wouldn't that address change when the version updates?  I mean, "v21" is in the path and everything...  Guess we have no choice but to give the poor chap a very personal PM to let his grace know when it is safe to come down off his mountain to obtain the fruits of his efforts.

I thought about that too, but as mentioned previously by another, I subscribed to this thread in the hopes that any updates of the new version could be followed here.  And then, when 2.5 finally is released, I'm pretty sure there will be *someone* who will post a comment in this thread letting everyone know - in case they miss the new thread that will more than likely be created when it comes out - that it finally is available.

I understand noobs though, as we all were at one point.  He probably doesn't want to keep getting emails about updates to this thread and have to wade through all the back-and-forth about subtitles and muxes, etc - each time hoping for the next email to be a notification of 2.5 being out.  At the very least, he should bookmark the thread and maybe check it once a week for any news.

Personally, *I* don't mind getting all the emails.  I find it fascinating and inspiring to see so much dedication going into these projects and am wholly grateful to all who are involved.  The friends that I've shown these versions to are awed at the quality and the restorations - as am I.

Keep up the great work, guys (and gals!)

Maybe someone should setup a star wars fan edits and preservations twitter feed and just post important developments with links to ot.com

Info Wanted: Your ultimate Star Wars Collection...?
Time

Lets say hypothetically you wanted to put together the ultimate Star Wars box set to give to your friends for Christmas. Imagine that you have super fast internet and tons of hard drive space so large file sizes are not an issue, you also have an unlimited supply of blank Blu-rays because you won the “Lifetime supply of blank blu-rays” contest.

What would you include in this box set, what would you not include and why?

I actually said that the BD's bitrate will be slightly lower. The rendered video stream is 11.4GB (the v2.0 MKV's video stream was 12.4GB). So, yes, it will be a BD25 (which is actually 23GB).

Could I convince you to do a BD50 as well as a BD25 in which you don't compromise on the bit rates and the amound of lossless audio tracks?

So the video has been rendered, audio is just days away from being finished if it isn't done already, so the only thing left would be the Blu-ray menus and the special features? At the risk of being that guy that keeps asking but can we get an ETA on the finalized Blu-ray package that will come after the bare bones MKV? The sooner this gets done the sooner we can start talking about Empire and Jedi. I'm so excited for this, in fact between this and Adywan's project I don't think I much care for Episode VII

Harmy why are you going to release 2.5 before project blu finalizes version 2? I got the impression from the Youtube video that previous versions utilized a complete version 1.0 but this upcoming one would just use samples from an upcoming version 2. In my honest opinion I would rather wait for all the sources to be perfect before doing 2.5 otherwise you'll just need to do 3.0 later on and I think that it would be better to stop at a certain point and decide that the project is complete

Hi

I'm new on this forum and I'm a big unaltered trilogy guy

Bought the GOUT with the terrible image because I liked it more than Greedo, Boba Fett fucking new voice and ESPECIALLY Jedi Rocks/Hayden Christensen

I just read recently about the despecialized editions and checked on Youtube the video Harmy posted recently and I must say that you're a genius!

I'm definitely getting these versions, they look amazing!!!

I'm just very confused about the different versions released...you're the new Lucas lol

So there's the 1.0 for all three movies

2.0 (or 2.1?) for Star Wars (will there be any for ESB/ROTJ?)

2.5: Same question? When will those be uploaded? Is there a target release date?

Thanks a lot

Welcome to the forum if you need a myspleen invite code I am always happy to send them out

We've all been waiting for a release date Harmy wanted to finish it a long time ago but school and some technical issues go in the way. It is late June so school should be out by now and hopefully he solved his technical issues I know he was having some issues with Blu-ray authoring and he was also waiting for people to provide him with video. No idea what is holding up the release at this particular moment as Harmy has not posted much updates so one can only hope that he is in the final stages or maybe he is waiting for project Blu version 2 and other such projects to finish.

A 2.5 for ESB and ROTJ are in the works as well so let's see who finishes first Harmy or Adywan

As for your question regarding the differences in version numbers I am not sure about that and to further add to your confusion there are also partially despecialized editions whether that would be pre 1.0 or those are what the 1.0s are I don't know so hopefully someone can sorth that out for the both of us

I have this fantasy that I have a job at Spike TV (shitty American tv network that airs Star Wars movies from time to time) and I'll have the job where I am in charge of loading discs into the computers and on the day that I am loading in the star wars disc into the computer I "get confused" and "accidentally" load in the despecialized disc

Hum, to be fair, you'll have to purchase the Blu-rays of at least the original trilogy as it is required by Harmy to download his work because his main source are the Blu-rays. You might not like it, but that's the condition that gives a (very little) sense of legality to Harmy's project. I, myself bought a lot of Star Wars discs since I discovered this project (the '06 DVDs that I didn't own and the Blu-rays of the Complete Saga).

Yes I have the Blu-rays. Isn't that right everybody? Yup we all own the Blu-rays

I'm 22 and I just missed the original Star Wars. I first saw Star Wars when I was 7 years old in 1997 and unfortunately it was the Special Editions. It was not until I got older that I realized that the Star Wars that I grew up with was wrong and by then it was too late to get access to the older copies. I didn't truly see Star Wars for the first time until December 17th 2012 when I downloaded Harmy's Despecializeds

The main issue has nothing to do with the quality of the changes.  History is what it is, and trying to change history is wrong - even evil.  Supressing any cultural artifact that had as big of a societal and technological impact as Star Wars did, is wrong regardless of how it is done.  It should be available 100% intact, warts and all.  Any less is to vandalize an important piece of our heritage.

Just to play devil's advocate slightly, I think the whole thing would not be an issue if the SE had been done tastefully from the start. If all it had been was cleaning up some continuity errors and doing some touch ups I doubt anyone would have gotten worked up. I guess I'm saying there's a parallel Earth out there where the SE is just a well-regarded Director's Cut that sits next to Blade Runner: The Final Cut, the Donner Superman, extended LotR, etc. (And obviously we'd still want the original preserved, too, as in the Blade Runner boxed set that has several versions.)

The alternate reality sounds like Star Wars Revisited

To be perfectly honest, I might prefer for the BD's main menu to not say "Despecialized" on it.

I would love to be able to give this to people (ie. everyone I know who remotely cares about Star Wars like I do) and for them to have no initial indication that it's not official.

Because I have said before that the best thing that can be said about a fanedit (though this is not an "edit") is that it doesn't look like it's fan made. And also, for me, Harmy is restoring Star Wars to what it should be, not making it his own, so I feel it fitting that this ought to be made to look as official as possible.

EDIT: Although, the idea of a Harmy title card before the Fox Fanfare starts at the beginning of the film, or else maybe at the opening of the main menu (a la Adywan) wouldn't bother me at all.)

Maybe I'm just not keen on the word "Despecialized" being written next to the movie title.

You would also have to label the disc to make it look professional. Do you know how to do that?

I know this is the wrong place to ask, but could someone point me to some instructions on how to get this onto a DL DVD using OS X? I don't have Windows, so ImgBurn isn't an option.

It's described as an ISO, but I just see a BDMV folder (downloaded from MySpleen.) With the original versions I actually had a .ISO file I could burn directly to disc.

Also: There's no forum search? Really?

Yeah the search function is really screwed up why the admin insists on using an obscure forum software rather than something like vBulletin is beyond me. If you want to search just type in site:originaltrilogy.com/forum "search term" on google. As far as your other question short of telling you to install bootcamp I can't really help you but I'm sure that there is at least a few mac users on this forum who can
