Harmy's STAR WARS Despecialized Edition HD - V2.7 - MKV (Released)

I've decided to go with the route of using DVD Architect and inserting everything via BDFix.

I'm still building the menus which are basic but are straight to the point.

For the main menu, it'll play the animation that Harmy did a while ago, then to a still frame at the end with the options added on.

Here's what I've done so far:

I mentioned before that I intended to add in the bonus features from the earlier releases also.

I really like this menu design :)

Hopefully Harmy can figure out his Blu-ray software issues pretty soon or someone with good Blu-ray software can help him out. But this menu looks really good as a way to give the viewer the feel of the original Star Wars

analog said: I was going to try this for kicks, just to see if it'd work, but get a "matroska parse error: invalid h264 NAL unit size. NAL unit truncated" error :(

Will wait for the "real deal" in any case... Just wanted to see if there was a quick way to burn for playback on a standalone player. Ah well.

The NAL error is due to header compression that newer versions of MKVtool kit thus mkvmerge now uses by default.

You simply need to remove it.

Here is how:  In mkvmerge, under options [file->options] on the mmg tab look for "Disable header removal compression for audio and video tracks by default" and check the box. Then in main window add your .mkv and "start muxing" it will be somewhat fast as in this case it will just be changing the header not really doing a demux

Here is the commandline method:

mkvmerge --compression 0:none --compression 1:none -o "path and file name of new .mkv aka output file" "path and file name of the mkv file to be processed aka imput file"

BTW: I use mkvmerge 4.70 besides it being rock solid stable, mkv's made from later versions will not fast forward >> or reverse properly << on my Blu-Ray player.

P.S. It's worth spending 1-2 hours to figure out how to use MultiAVCHD for the do-it-yourself menu. You'll be able to use the knowledge for future endevours. Of course, I had to limit the audio choices down to 6 due as that's all that will display, but it's great solution until an "official" one is available from Harmy and his helpers.

If I were to use multiAVCHD to create a Blu-ray that contains multiple movies like say SW DEED 2.5, SW ANH Revisited SD, and Star Wars Begins would the 6 audio track limit be per title or is the 6 track limit across the entire disc?

I'm not sure if I should burn 2.5 to disc or wait until the BD comes out. I already have 2.0 and 2.1 on Blu-ray I waited a while after 2.1 came out but eventually I broke my will power and burned 2.1 to disc so now I have 2 versions of Star Wars on disc. I am wondering if I should burn 2.5 to disc now or if I should wait for the BD whenever it comes out.

Another more important question that I have is that it seems like some members of this forum Chyron included are brainstorming their idea to take Harmy's files and make it there own, so should I wait for the Chyron/whatever edition to come out to compare it to Harmy's before making my decision?

I will download whatever Harmy puts out my Hard Drives have more than enough room and my bandwidth is always up to the challenge but Blu-ray discs even 25GB discs can be expensive so I want to make a smart decision

Well, he wouldn't have to re-encode but he would have to do some voodoo, to get it all working properly.

By voodoo are you referring to doing that layer timing thing? He would also have to change menus aroound a little adding in more buttons and stuff like that. By the way how are the menus going? I know you showed the video that would play in the background but how does it look with all the buttons like play movie scene selections setup

I volunteer to put it on Myspleen. I did so for v2.1.

If you all recall, I was able to download 2.1 from uloz and put it up on Myspleen in very little time. The reason being because I'm using the internet at my office, which is really fricken fast.

Plus, I'm really nitpicky about wanting torrents for the same set to have identical formatting/layouts in their Myspleen descriptions. So if I do it myself, I can ensure that it looks right.

That would be greatly appreciated

@hairy_hen: I'm really sorry to hear about your troubles - if you can get the audio to me during next week, it would be great but if not, don't worry about it, I'll just release the mkv with the lossy versions and then people can mux the lossless tracks in later - for the BD, I'll wait as long as it takes for you to finish them :-)

@DVD-BOY: It seems like I will be pretty lucky if I'm even able to do a basic menu, so I don't think I'll be using any advanced features like that.

@analog: I'm definitelly not using any method that would require re-compression - if I couldn't find a way, there simply would be no BD.

Adywan made some excellent menus on his Star Wars revisited project I'm sure he wouldn't mind if you copied his menu design exactly

This project has taken longer than anticipated but I don't think Ady is delayed by changes he doesn't make.

People posting thoughts, ideas, commentaries, criticism etc only delay the project if they make sense to Ady and he has to redo his work to match the ideas he is convinced by.

I can't imagine that happening too often as he started this project with many ideas of his own which he has probably stuck to.

For someone who does not follow this thread as religiously as you guys do what date are we expecting for the release of Empire?

Tomorrow!

No really when is it expected? Around this christmas, maybe later, maybe before (hopefully)?
