Idea & Info: 'Bon Voyage, Charlie Brown' and 'Race For Your Life Charlie Brown' - airing on HD channels throughout June and July... how bout a DVD preservation?
Time

Bumping my old thread here... I now have DVDs of both movies I made from HD mkv's I downloaded, I think from the Spleen. My next project is to continue the Peanuts 1960s and 1970s collections, since Warner gave up on that. So that would be 1980s Collection Vol 1 and 2, 1990s Collection and 2000s Collection, complete with VHS only specials yet to make it to DVD.

Superman (1941) (Mild-Mannered Edition) (Released)
Time

I (used to?) have some old VCDs (or just computer CDs?) that had some (all?) of these episodes. They came in cardboard sleeves like Wii Sports. If I can find them, I'll have to check and see if there are any differences. I was always planning to buy that 14 disc or whatever Superman set but never got around to it.

So, davextreme, how hard would it be to, or can you, make this back into DVDs?

I don't have an ipod/ ipad/ iphone (or any smart phone or tablet) and I hate watching things on PC. How would the quality be if the M4V's were converted back to MPG/ VOB?

note on the uncut statement of the blu-ray

video: uncut & uncensored = yes
video: english or japanese on screen text? japanese only
japanese audio: uncut & uncensored = yes
english audio: uncut & uncensored = no

the english audio is the pg-13 version. the uncut/uncensored audio can be found on the u.s. dvd. i have it, but still hadn't found time to sync the audio to the bd.

Sounds exactly like the "Uncut, Unleashed, Uncensored" DVD that I partly based this edit on (some of the menus anyway), and the reason I made this in the first place.

My DVD:

video: uncut & uncensored = yes
video: english or japanese on screen text? English dub or Japanese translated to English
japanese/ english/ japanese voices+ english music selectable audio: uncut & uncensored = yes

I could probably re-do it in anamorphic, but I probably won't have a computer good enough to do an HD version.

Call me weird, I know, but personally, I like seeing the black bars on the top and bottom while watching movies on my widescreen TV. I have my DVD player (sorry no blu ray yet, not even PS3) set to show the black bars for all ws movies. Just feels more cinematic that way.

"The Ewoks Project - Animated TV Series" DVD set (now on myspleen) (Released)
Time

I haven't seen this yet (or even have a computer at home currently), but it should be better quality than the bootleg versions for sale. You can see screenshots on the first page.

Just keep in mind that this will not be DVD quality, as there is only so much you can do with a VHS source.

There was an official DVD release (probably out of print now) but it was only a few episodes and was edited into a "movie" format.

On a releated note, i didn't read every page here, did anyone do an NTSC version of this? I hate PAL and so does my equipment and TV.

Clone Wars: Episode I - Rise of the Separatists (Released)
Time

I've only seen one or two episodes of this "The Clone Wars". I haven't checked out your edit yet, but I still prefer the old 2D animated series from the Dexter's Lab guy that came out between episodes 2 and 3 and I think it makes a good episode 2.5. I wonder why the old "Clone Wars" (old series without "The") was "retconned" or whatever?

Super Mario / Captain N / Zelda TV series preservations (a WIP)

Thanks. That would be very helpful.

What would be super helpful as well is if someone had the missing live action Mario segments, The Magic Love and Treasure of the Sierra Brooklyn. I have on Treasure on VHS, but it’s missing the last minute or two… so a complete version would be nice, or just the second half.

Star Wars: Episode VII to be directed by J.J. Abrams **NON SPOILER THREAD**

"What order should I watch the SW movies?"

Bah!

So you're saying we should watch them "Episode 8, Jedi, Episode 7, Empire, Sith, Episode 0 (so a prequel to the prequels huh?), Episode 9" Hmm, what a weird way of watching?? Skip ANH and the first two prequels? Interesting... LOL, I get the song reference.

Harrison Ford successfully bribed $1000 dollars to spill the beans on the new Star Wars.

That was great!

Anyone have a full transcript of that? I can't watch videos right now.

Maybe my eyes suck (I do wear contacts), I don't know. But to me, Blu Ray looks no better than DVD on my HDTV. So, when buying movies, I'd probably go for the Blu Ray or combo pack, but mostly because of the extra bonus features.

The only time I've seen a difference was on people and store displays that have the "soap opera effect" going on, which looks like crap. Seriously, why was that invented?

Inf Wanted: 'Fantastic Four' - Theatrical Preservations? (not the 1994)
Time

The thing about incredibles I didn't know, that's pretty interesting!

The comparison about the other region DVDs I saw right before I made this topic. However there is nothing specifically mentioned about the US version.

According to Wikipedia, there were changes made after the US theatrical release, and the DVD was not the same as the theater release.

So, again, was the US theatrical cut released on US DVD, or in any region?

Hi. I guess I am one of the few that actually likes the theatrical Fantastic Four movies. (Could be due to Jessica Alba’s hotness…)

Anyway, I just today heard that the DVD version had a bunch of small changes (I’m in the US), and that there are a bunch of regional differences as well. I don’t know where my DVD is currently, so I can’t tell what’s changed or not.

Is there a version, much like Blade Runner, that has ALL of the variations? Mostly I’d be interested in the US theatrical cut, since that’s what I saw in theaters.

Then, were there similar things done for the sequel?

Superman V-Superman Returns Fanedit (Released)

Sounds really cool! I had a similar idea to have all the movies connected as well. My idea was to use the Supergirl movie as part of the series as well. I was going to have Supergirl take place while Superman was looking for Krypton., so I, II, III, IV, Supergirl, Superman Returns. And then the title Superman Returns sorta works better. He was gone, Supergirl was there instead. That's all I can really remember right now though.

Sounds really cool. One thing I'd really like to see in an edit is Padme not dying, as per Leia's memories in ROTJ. The Kcutter did a good job making a scene like that.

That would be nice but can't think how you would A: Show her alive on Alderaan and B: Explain why she let Kenobi kidnap her child and "Hide" him on a farm in Tatooine. A farm that she knew the location of. Why wouldn't she visit.

This seems like a rare ill thought through problem with the OT that wasn't possible to reflect in the PT.

Would love to hear if anybody has ideas to solve this conundrum.

In my cut, Anakin audiably crushes Padme's spine. She later dies from her injuries after giving birth to unmamed twins. She doesn't choose to die from a broken heart leaving her children parentless.

 Here you go:

No one knows Padme is carrying twins until the birth scene, correct? So, we can assume that Padme herself doesn't know either. Padme gives birth to one baby, names her Leia, passes out. The doctors (droids?) then realize there is a second baby. They remove it from her and it's not named. When Padme comes to, she is none the wiser, and assumes she only gave birth to a girl.

Onto the scene with Obi-Wan, Bail and Yoda:

I forget exactly how it goes right now, but I think Yoda says something about keeping the twins separate for safety. Bail says he will take Padme and her daughter back to his wife on Alderaan. Obi-Wan then says he will take the boy to his uncle. Yoda could then also say, "In your exile on Tatooine, you will be known as Ben.." etc.

The scene I posted earlier can be used. After Obi-Wan arrives on tatooine, there can be a subtitle that reads, "5 years later..." And we can here use the funeral scene (without Jar Jar) and Lucas's daughter can be Leia! Maybe a scene can be found from another movie/ TV show with Jimmy Smits (and a wife/ gf?) looking sad/ at a funeral.

 A. Here's how The Cutter did that using footage from another movie:
