Harmy's STAR WARS Despecialized Edition HD - V2.7 - MKV (Released)

Here's a trailer I made for the PARTLY DESPECIALIZED EDITION like four or five years ago. The technical execution is horrible, but the idea is there :-)

I suspected this was such an obvious idea someone must've at least thought about doing it ;) Great job, especially with the audio.

No to take anything away from Harmy, because he deserves all the praise he's getting, but I wish people would notice and appreciate the fact that this is very much a collaborative effort.

We’d be absolutely shocked if the original, unaltered Star Wars films don’t A) return to theaters

I'd probably spend all my life savings on that. I can already imagine the commercial:

"For an entire generation people have experienced Star Wars the only way it's been possible, through the Special Editions:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=27RVJJfny4I

...but if you've only seen it this way, you haven't seen it at all."

Somebody needs to edit that thing together.

Here's hoping Fox and Disney like money a lot.

The Phantom Menace 15th Anniversary
Time

I saw it on TV. I think it was the premiere, for whatever that's worth. I recall thinking one thing throughout the entire movie: this isn't Star Wars. Thankfully I didn't know then that TPM would end up being the high point of the trilogy, and that I'd miss Jake Lloyd's nuanced performance (not that it was his fault - I'm truly sorry it ended the way it did for him).

Looking forward to reminiscing about AotC.

Bruce Lee?

Bruce Lee's face looks pasted on!

It is. I'm not kidding:

That's how you make a Bruce Lee movie when you don't have Bruce Lee. He managed to shoot some footage for his next movie (you can find 40 minutes of it on youtube - it's really good) before his death, the studio took it, cast an unconvincing stand-in, re-used bits from his other movies and pasted his face wherever they could to make it seem legit. If it sounds like an abomination that's because it is one.

Oh, and then they made a "sequel", which, admittedly, isn't quite as scummy as the first one.

LADDIE - The Man That Saved Star Wars (Needs your help!)

Was nice of George Lucas to donate his time to sign two copies of the trilogies even if it is the blu ray versions and not the real original trilogy.

I hope ever paid the 1,500 knows they are not the real deal. As no HD version or even DVD quality version of star wars from 1977 that Alan Ladd Jr.  greenlit exists.

I doubt this matters to whomever paid that much.

It would've been pretty funny if those turned out to be the 2006 GOUT dvds, though ;)

Ben Affleck cast as new Batman
Time

There's silly-looking veins, but at least there really is no bat-nipples. That counts for something, right? I'm not sure it's terribly consistent, but that's another discussion.

I like Affleck, but the suit looks... not that great. The inspirations are obvious, but it doesn't look convincing enough when you actually dress a guy like that. Then again maybe they're abandoning that gritty realism idiocy that's been plaguing superhero movies for the last couple of years and going way over the top again. That's the only way this look has a chance of not being completely out of place, I think. I like the cowl, though.

Anyway, Zack Snyder is such a huge deterrent for me, especially after MoS, that I don't think anything can turn me off of this movie more than I already am.

Looks like they're basing him on the Dark Knight Returns Batman:

This looks like Batman is punching the Joker for attempting to fondle his crotch. I think that pose should've gone through one more revision. Or maybe it's just the angle.

That aside, they've been name-dropping TDKR since the very beginning so the suit isn't a surprise. They went overboard with the muscles and the veins, though. Unless they prove that Affleck really is that ripped and veiny enough for those to show through his costume.

Besides "The films need to be the way I want them," has Lucas stated anything as to why the Blu-rays became the travesty that they are?

Disney needs to generate good will for Star Wars after the last decade of Prequel-only attention.

They don't need good will. Everyone is going to see those movies regardless of anything - it's just one of those franchises.

I use the phone to call other people, nothing more, nothing less.

Same here, but I do get why you'd want to carry one device instead of several. Battery life issues alone make a smartphone too much of a hassle to me, though, so I'm fine carrying around my mp3 player.

DRM, compatibility etc. are an entirely different story, and with that I agree.

Star Wars: Episode VII to be directed by J.J. Abrams **NON SPOILER THREAD**

Hopefully the cinematographers style is tamed a bit.  I like Mindel's stuff but the lens flares and frenzied fast shaky cam is kind of not my cup of tea.

Less like Amazing Spider-man 2 or Star Trek Into Darkness.  More like the first three star wars made in the seventies and eighties.

I think that was more Webb and Abrams than anyone else. Savages and John Carter, shot by Mindel for other directors, have none of those attributes.

Anyway, it looks like Dennis Lawson isn't coming back:

Holy misleading headline, Batman! He never said drop dead. I wish sites like that would report the news, and spare us the editorializing. My college journalism prof would have bopped me on the head for writing stuff like that. The original slashfilm article is way better.

Which is exactly why he's teaching journalism ;)

But yeah, I'm tired of click-baiting headlines as well.
