Can we have Billie and Gary instead? They can represent Carrie Fisher.
My hopes for an OOT announcement dropped.

Do Empire and Jedi have separation masters as well?
What a dick.
Which one? Both?
I used an Amazon giftcard and bought a Mighty Muggs Wicket the Ewok. I like Ewoks. I like Return of the Jedi.
Has everyone decided where they are going to get the Rogue One blu-ray/DVD? Anyone going for an exclusive? I’m most likely getting the Steelbook.
Yeah I dunno. None of them stand out to me, and when I upgraded to the Blu-ray of all the star wars I got the steelbook because I couldn’t stand the saga case and artwork (young Ani on the cover? No thanks). So with no other Strong reason to choose, it’s probably going to be another steelbook.
on second thought, if i pre-order the standard bluray set on target today, i get a 5 dollar target gift card. that makes it the best price by far. (as far as i can tell, this offer ends at midnight tonight.)
JEDIT: nevermind, that gift card barely cancels out the required shipping and handling fees (no in store pickup for pre-order).
I’m trying to figure out why Amazon still doesn’t have any pre-order inventory. I have Prime so that’s definitely the most affordable and convenient option for me. But I’m probably not going to watch it for a month anyway, so it really doesn’t matter.
That does seem odd. i finally put in my pre-order through best buy. currently they have it $5 off so i can get it for $25 with in store pickup for free (i am getting the steelbook). if someone ones wants the movie the day it comes out, this is probably the way to go. that or wait and try to pick it up without the pre-order…
Amazon and Disney are in a dispute about home video profits or something.
Has an actual script for Splinter ever turned up? Or did it not get further than whatever George gave Alan Dean Foster to work with?
It got as far as a story conference.

Funny that Lucas was ok with killing Vader and Leia off all willy-nilly.
Of all the movies, only Star Wars and Jedi had real endings.
TPM does as well.
TPM was always meant as part one of three. Star Wars could have very easily been a standalone and Jedi was the last for a long time.
STAR WARS was made to be a standalone film as not one soul involved thought there would be a sequel.
Or at best Splinter of the Mind’s Eye as a low budget one.

Jason Ward’s tweet is making me worry. If Hayden Christensen is in the Last Jedi- it could ruin the movie for me. I don’t want anything that legitimizes the SEs in the ST.
I wonder if they could use a body double and CGI to resurrect Old Obi-Wan the ghost with Stephan Stanton doing the voice? Or even do it with Matt Lanter and Sebastian Shaw’s image for Anakin Skywalker? That I could tolerate.
The First Order is based off remnant Imperials that fled to unknown systems after Jakku. There was something out there (Snoke?) and they’ve had 30 years to design and build new ships, train troops from infants and make plans. Their first major offensive took out the Republic capital and most if not all of the Senate and a large part of the fleet. They are an invading force.
I wouldn’t mind seeing them attack civilian cities and the like. We never really saw that in the OT or the PT.
Would Kennedy be savvy enough with film restoration to hire the right people for a 4K scan? Or are we looking at another restoration with green lightsabers in the Falcon, a blueberry Hoth and everyone having rosacea?
Dominic, I see what you mean; of course his presence is not necessary. But you said in your earlier post that he “does not belong in this movie.” That’s a bit hyperbole, I think, and implies that his presence is damaging. I just wonder in what way you think his presence is damaging to the film.
It depends what you consider damaging. Vader’s scene is the most obvious reshoot material because he never meets the heroes face to face. It comes across as a very last minute addition (which it is). It also overturns their sacrifice by making the audience root for him instead. If he was written into the story effectively it might work, but it’s just an effects scene. To me Vader isn’t the sort of character who would even consider using his lightsaber this way, he’s too cool and collected. The ending should be about people with shades of grey feeling they have achieved something bigger than their own selfish ideals. Instead it’s just a spectacle, they hug, they die, now here’s a epic as hell lightsaber massacre ohhhooo yeaaahhhh. Oh but hope. It’s about hope.
It also leads wonderfully into the beginning of Star Wars. Vader in Star Wars was very different to the Vader in Empire and Jedi. He’s pissed off because Krennic messed up bad. Tarkin called him in to fix the situation.
I ordered Scoundrels this weekend. It will be my first Legends novel in a while. The last ones I read were The Old Republic books a few years ago.
Perhaps it was voluntary or something? Somebody has to pack them up and ship them back, and if the studio isn’t picking up the tab, a store might just blow it off?
I doubt the studio cared about used copies. I got Star Wars at FYE and Empire and a local place. Jedi I found new, but that was the week the blu rays came out so maybe. I can imagine the employees not giving a crap.
I have to get this off my chest, I wasn’t an OOT purist until 2011 and the Jedi Noooo bs. I had all the movies on DVD (SE of the OT), I even bought season one of the Clone Wars! I am so ashamed.
I’ve read somewhere that the DVDs were pulled.
Not everywhere, The FYE’s around me had them- but they were out of Best Buy/Target/Walmart etc. I had to go used when I got the GOUT for Star Wars and Empire.
Do you think people who like TFA and R1 think these movies are high art and in no way products? Of course they are products but that doesn’t mean they are bad products.
Star Wars films to me have always been B-Movie/Serials with high production values. The “high art” films for the most part bore me to death.
There was the Krennic and Vader clip in the trailers.
I wonder if the Vader slaughter scene came about because the fans creamed themselves over the rumor Vader would slaughter some rebels and Kennedy wanted to please. That would explain it being done so late.
AOTC is much worse than TPM. Menace at least had the duel. Clones was blurry, spent too much time on a romance between actors with no chemistry and the climax was a giant CGI battle where both sides were robots. Yawn.
I just saw a video stating that Krennic was originally supposed to die by Vader’s hands and I’m so glad they didn’t go down that route as Krennic being turned into star dust is the only death a man like that deserves.
Going in I was sure that’s how it would play out. Having him get clipped on the catwalk by the Death Star’s superlaser before it hits the planet does have a nice irony that death-by-Vader would have lacked.
Tarkin didn’t even care that he was on the planet. All that work and Krennic was trash to people like Tarkin and Vader. Much better than him getting choked.
Ezra is the dollar store knockoff of Luke.
Its going to be Lucas burning the materials so the OT stays at 1080p just like his precious Prequels…
I still hate Ezra. Hope he dies soon. It would have been amazing to have the episode be only Maul and Ben Kenobi.
I’ve been thinking about picking up any old EU book. What are people’s favorites beyond the obvious (Thrawn trilogy, Han Solo adventures)?
The Wookiee Storybook. It’s canon in my eyes.
Not only Gen Xers, but film buffs of all ages or people with taste in general.
