Davnes007, like everyone else, I think you did a great job on that clip.  How you managed to whip that up in one night I don't know.  With some of the refinements mentioned (i.e., smaller text, different colouring, juggling the placement of the images and text, etc.) it could work.

However, for the purposes of ESB:R, I'm not sure it'd be a good addition.  Although pop-up HUD displays look OK in the PT ships, I ultimately think it would be out of place in the Falcon, whose instrumentation is very rudimentary and consists of physical parts (buttons, switches, etc.), just like all the other ships in the OT.

Even though it was fun to see the mock-up i have to agree with what corellian77 said. The Falcon is a "heap of junk". adding HUD displays just doesn't fit with its character. Adding any sort of display is getting too close to PT territory (where every detail seems to have to either be explained or shown) for me. Its obvious they are looking at the display but do we need to see it? i say not. The focus is supposed to be on the interaction between Han & Leia. Adding a display of any kind for this scene would be a case of "adding it just because you can".

I think one of the reasons the OT looks dated now is what precisely corellian77 pointed out: most of the OT ships have their cockpit full of knobs, switches and buttons, while most of the PT ships boast touchscreens, a middle ground must be found otherwise it makes the OT seem dated, not just by PT standards, but by any movie nowadays......nothing wrong with pop-up holos or nice screens, as long as they don't become too obvious, it would enhance the experience (ANH:R rebel war room anyone?) Let's take into consider how much an X-wing with screen similar to the Jedi-Fighter would gain in terms of giving a perspective of what the pilot saw. same with MF, furthermore with MF since that ships HAS been around since the time of the PT (EP 3 shows it) so it's only natural that MF would have touchscreens and all.....

And that is why the design in the OT is so much better than the PT. Things seem more functional in the OT and the design elements made it look like a different time. Now look at the Pt and everything is just so flashy yet a lot of it looks like elements from today's society. Just because the falcon design was around in the PT era doesn't mean that it should have all the fancy displays we see. Look at today's cars for instance. there are so many varying features you can  get with a car depending upon how much you are prepared to pay. The one thing i really want to do when i get to the PT is downgrade a lot of the technology and design. yeh, i can imagine that the queen of naboo would have a very expensive craft with the latest tech but other ships & environment do need the downgrade (which they actually did a bit for the jedi starfighter in ROTS)

and 005, good work on the translation. i can't remember exactly what i wrote on the rebel briefing displays but i'm pretty sure it was lines of dialogue from the movies

Please add it? I beg of you! its a stunning idea and we all love it...

This was the start of an idea that came to me in a vision.

What's Your Next Move

Well...here it is. I stayed up all night working on it, so watch it as many times as you can, and enjoy the epic'ness. :D

EDIT: I know that the text should be backwards, but I was too tired to go through the trouble of making it backwards, sorry.

...now...I have to get some sleep.................................

That's so blooming brilliant! fingers crossed that Ady does something like this?

So, is there going to be a standard DVD version of ESB:R as well as the AVCHD/Bluray

Yes.

Good, cuz I really can't afford going out and buying a Blu-Ray or PS3

Not even 8 or 10 months from now you can't afford it? The Edit's not gonna be ready a month or even 6 months from now.

Well I'm only 15 and don't get much money, no job >:( hopefully I can get 1 this summer

I'm sure someone from the forum will be kind enough to burn it for you and post it to you when the time comes.

ladyferry, I see by some of your pics that you're a Dune fan? (judging by your dog's name and your "blue in blue" eyes pic) :)

Yup! I am also a big Dune fan, have been since I was 12! I re-read all the novels religiously every year. My chihuahua is called Leto after Leto Atreides II - the God Emperor...

But Star Wars is and always will be my main sci-fi fetish.

Been posted already in the General News section in better quality.

My apologies to Mr. Dangerous Incorporated, and to anyone else who has already seen this clip. It was recommended to me yesterday by a certain 'Captain Tightpants' you all may know (not that I'm boasting)... I only frequent this thread and don't look at any of the others, so thanks for pointing that out.

Saying that, I hope I'm hot enough to hold a lightsaber?

I wish you made it more cloudy and less open bright sky -

There is nothing saying you can't redo the skyline and make it clearer.

well you totally contradicted yourself about the sky here Monroville. As i've said i'm not changing anything about the new shot. it works perfectly well for me. The brightness matches the other shots in the sequence whereas before , as i have said already, the original shot looked stormy. I guess there is only one way to settle this as you need to see it in motion and in context with the rest of the sequence. I'm wondering just how many are still comparing the colouring with the 2004 shots instead of my colour corrected version?

IN MOTION

please don't post this clip on youtube because it isn't finished. ignore the first shot because that's just the colour corrected version and i haven't begun work on this yet

Ady darling, please let me put it up on youtube? I have had hundreds of e-mails from people wanting to view it! I beg of you???

2010 is the goal i have set but there may still be a slim chance of the Xmas 2009 release. the main factor against this happening at the moment is money. building these sets and everything else is costing a lot more than i had originally anticipated. I desperately need the Fine Molds Millennium Falcon before i can begin to build the hangar set because of getting the scale right. The same goes with the asteroid canyon scene. but with the only Fine Molds models i can find are on Ebay and are about £200, a quarter of that is just shipping to the Uk, its just a case of saving up as much as i can and preying there is still one available when i get the cash. Then there is the problem of building these huge sets but living in a 1 bedroom flat and still being able to live in this place with these huge sets in my front room. That's going to be fun. Its all going to have to be done one set at a time. Then there is the depressing thought that as soon as that one set is complete and filmed it will all have to be smashed up and disposed of so i can move onto the next one.  I'm not looking forward to that.

I'm sure there's someone in the UK who would be willing to store the models for you when you're done.  Or sell them to help recoup your money...

I totally agree! I would definately buy them if they were sold on ebay.

Isn't there anyone on the boards willing to lend Ady either a completed Fine Molds MF? or a Master Replicas MF?

No, it's by itself. Ladyferry posts all these clips on her YouTube account (as shellatella), but they really should be downloaded here instead. YouTube makes them too dark, which hides some of the subtle changes, especially with this awesome Yoda scene.

They are all here darlings:

The background when Luke enters the city need something done to it, that matte painting behind him seems like it's supposed to be the edge of the city or something. I dunno what needs done, but that painting needs to go.

I concur.  Either add some moving clouds just to give it some life or show the X-wing on a landing platform or something.

I made this some days before:

If you remove the lights i said how of the hidden detail poped up( wall shapes)

-Angel

Changing the topic somewhat, it would be cool to see Luke's X-Wing on the landing platform at the end of that corridor! what do you think?

I think Clone wars or something. In that case an indication of closing is necessary.

I still like the bamboo ladder idea :P

There's something about 'ladders' here:

In the other hand we see Luke packing things below of the x-wing. So from there is the ladder. but if the ladder disappears then a falling sound is best.

Cos it's shit!!

Why is it shit? The SE version is better than the original version.

Please can we keep all foul language out of the forums? Its not necessary and shows unintelligence! we also have quite a few youngsters on the forums so show a good and responsible example please?

Oh do behave!!

I am extremely well behaved thank-you! and there's nothing wrong with touching a man's rhubarb...

A little language now and again doesn't hurt anybody, and if someone's old enough to read these forums I'm sure they've heard these words anyway.

Out of curiosity, *is* there a language policy on the forum?  I've never gotten a warning or anything before, and I've certainly not censored myself here ... just curious.

I don't want to get into a war of words with you regarding bad language on the forums, I just think its polite not to swear and use bad language to get any point across that's all.

I am not trying to get a ban on people swearing or appearing to be a do-gooder out on a mission. I just think that words can be written intelligently and concise to make a point, rather than having to resort to swearing and being aggressive bordering on bullying to get your points across.
