***The Official NON-Star Wars FAN EDIT*** Release Thread
Time
Rikter, nice to see an organised listing of everything, however, I was kind of hoping this thread would be in the "Preservation & Fan Edits" board as that's where it belongs (I think anyway). Even though it's not Star Wars, the "Preservation & Fan Edits" board has threads that aren't Star Wars. I guess I'm also saying this because this thread is likely to get buried in all the other off-topic thrad activity. What do the mods think, should it be moved?

Idea: The Making of The Lion King & Tim Burton's Batman Films
Time

The “Making of the Lion King” was on LD, but there’s a VHS on ebay currently, right here.

Also, these two might be redundant soon with the new Special Editions, but they may contain content that will not be seen on the new DVDs and thus should be preserved.
The Making of Batman (1989)
The Making of Batman Returns (1992)

I don’t want to flood this board with ebay auction links, but I thought these were worthy of mention just in case someone decided they should be purchased and shared.

Info & Help: looking for... other ld-rips to dvd movies ex. blade runner int cut, songs of the south, frighteners dir cut - and much much more...

I look forward to the Jaws project now

I'll have to have a look at how I would go about capturing the movie then. Might have to enlist someone's help as I don't have the best equipment nor is it likely to be shown on TV here. Also, what do you mean by "putting a mask on the footage"?

I know about the recent DVD having the mono and the doco, in fact I have to import the US DVD as the R4 does not include the mono and the doco has 15mins worth of cuts. Anyway, the talk about the mono is to preserve it at a higher quality than that of the DVD.

DigitalFreakNYC:
So, you're just taking the video from the DVD and shoving the LD audio on top? Shouldn't that fit fine with dual-layer? Unless you only want to do a single-layer for this, which seems more feasible. Thanks for letting me know about Jaws 3 & 4's sound. You wouldn't happen to know which ending is present on the Jaws 4 LD, would you? I think all home video releases have had the altered "happy" ending, but if there's a way to get my hands on the original ending that would be good. I really do intend to make a decent DVD for both of those movies, even though the films themselves aren't great at all.

I am finishing up school/exams in the next 2 months, after that I'll be putting together my first few DVDs, I was wondering if anybody had either/both of the Jaws 3 or Jaws 4 movies on Laserdisc. I assume the audio on those LDs is mono? In any case, I'd like to hear about those LDs and determine what I'd want from them for my own discs.

***Hi-Res Star Wars Image Submission Thread***
Time
Thanks for all the submissions. I think I'll have to send a disc or two to Rikter soon. Twister111 thanks for the ep3 pics, and Zion, thank you for that link. Considering that's already a large archive, I'll just stick to giving Rikter what I have now. There's no point in downloading tons of pictures which are freely available. I've tried to collect some of the "harder to find in hi-res" images. But that site looks mighty useful.

Episode I Digital Yoda Images!!!!
Time
Maybe this reply of mine is unneeded but I agree with booah's point, and the example of T2 as a film with great CGI. Even though that movie is relatively old now (relative to the advancement of CGI) it holds up surprisingly well. I only wish there were more films like that - where, if CGI is used, it is done properly so that the experience is not sacrificed for a digital creature.

OT Released AGAIN!!! (DVDAnswers.com article on possible new box set...)
Time
The box is most definitely just the 2004 box without the bonus disc, and the box art has been changed. I know a fan or two who will buy this 'barebones' (I use the term in quotations because it was pretty barebones with the bonus disc anyway) rerelease just for the art on the side. I think that traditional poster art is nice, would've been better on the 2004 box than Vader - more interesting and closer to the feel of the OT. However, I own the 2004 box and therefore there's no reason to purchase this release.

I mean, seriously, there's no need to argue about it. Lucas/Fox/Whoever is simply trying to cash in on the Star Wars franchise for Christmas. Obviously when people go to pick up Episode III, those who hadn't purchased the 2004 box might be intrigued to buy the OT simply because it's there. I know that some areas haven't had the 2004 box in stock for a long time, other stores are riddled with them. It is a money-making rerelease in time for christmas. That's all.

Info: American Werewolf in Paris Workprint
Time

I just found out that the AWiP DVD that I have (the Australian R4 PAL) features the workprint version. This cut of the film is apparently not available anywhere else (on DVD at least). The DVD is 16x9 enhanced, Dolby Digital 5.1, and features interviews and a second trailer. Due to all of these features being absent from the R1 DVD, was just wondering if anybody might be interested in trading for a copy?
