Transformers: Their Movie. Our Hype.
Time
Hey there fellow OT'ers.

I was wondering if any of you would be interested in helping me with a silly little disc I wanted to make. Over the past year or so there have been a number of commercials and fan videos that have imitated/parodied or paid homage to Transformers. With a number of these videos being made due to the forthcoming Michael Bay movie of 2007 I want to put together a DVD that compiles the best (and worst?) of these clips in the best possible quality. Sort of like a "Transformers: Hype" disc.

Some of you might be familiar with some of the clips. I think the most famous of the bunch is the original Citroen C4 commercial. However, those of you who frequent movie news sites may have seen the couple of clips touted as being 'leaked' SFX test footage from the new movie.

I have a list that I compiled of all the Youtube clips that I was able to find by searching with "Transformers". This list was made nearly a month ago and so some of the links might no longer work. Let me know if any don't work and I'll use the description to find another copy available on youtube and re-edit the link. Please if you know of high quality versions for any of the below material then send me the links... and yes I know I can save Youtube content - but the point of this proposed project is to try and get the highest quality versions possible.

I'd like to add some other content too; the "I Love Toys" clip, perhaps some related commercials, other things like those on the below list, a redone version of the best TF music video, the leaked set photos from the new movie, the teaser trailer for the new movie, etc. Please give your thoughts and ideas for such a disc. I look forward to any and all replies.

The Youtube List:
NOTE:
There are probably clips in here that aren't suited to this project. I've yet to organise it and get rid of the pointless ones. These are only meant to serve as inspiration for what we could include.

'Leaked' Footage
* The faked "leaked" footage (from a while back)

Commercials
* If... Sci-Fi
* Singapore Navy
* Japanese MTV Video Music Awards

TV Specials
* "I Love Toys" Countdown: #41: Transformers
* "Transformers in 1984" TV Clip

Amateur CGI
* Short Transformers G1 Animation ("Transformers Chronicles")
* Audi TT Transformation
* Fan Trailer
* Soundwave Transforming

Game Intros
* "Transformers" PS2 game
* "Transformers: Tatakai" PS2 Game (Japan Only)

Other
* Short stop-motion transformation of a mini Transformer
* Custom-Made Robot

Trailer Remixes
* "LOTR: The Two Towers" Fan Trailer
* "LOTR: Return of the King" Fan Trailer

Unsorted
* Transformers: Unfinished
* Test "Prime" Live
* Transformers Boxes
* Fake Optimus "Leaked"
* "Transformers Show" at the Louisville Zoo

ORIGINAL STAR WARS TRILOGY OUT 09/2006 BY LUCASFILM

It's nice to see a change in the thread from the debate about the LD masters that Karyudo and Boris have been having.

Those screencaps just make me dread the R4 release. Letterboxed widescreen with all of those problems intact. I kind of wish the France thing had turned out to be true as anamorphic video would have made this release a little less painful.

Glad I could help.

I just wanted to ask, can one of you Eva fans confirm this: my understanding of the asian DVDs is that the Japanese Renewal box was limited and is now out-of-print. I was wondering if you can clarify; are the individual discs of the Renewal collection available separately? Basically I want to get the remastered version of the series. In terms of the Renewal bonus disc, what have you left off this disc BrikHaus81?

BrikHaus81,

I'm glad you're going to be able to add the documentary and intros/outros.

However, can I make two suggestions before you get round to doing the final DVD? Please don't use DVDShrink after authoring the disc (in DVD-Lab or the like). When you're putting the disc together jsut make sure that it'll all fit on one DVD - that way there's no degrade in quality. The other suggestion is; why not use Dolby Digital instead of MPEG Audio? If you don't have an encoder you should talk to some people around here who might be able to encode the audio files for you. I might be mistaken but I think Dolby Digital would take up slightly less space than MPEG audio. Plus, MPEG audio isn't as widely compatible as Dolby (Dolby being the DVD spec standard after all).

And once again, I can't wait till this is finished and I can grab a hold of it.

I'll be mighty pleased if Australia gets anamorphic. If not, then I probably won't buy the set as I have the first set from 2004 (the one with the Bonus disc). I suppose if the France thing is true then I could always import that set.

Ghostbusters: We're Ready to Believe You (* unfinished project *)

I've run into some personal stuff that has prevented me from spending time working on the isolated score. I'm not saying I can't finish it. But... I can't finish it how I would've liked. I was going to do 3 slightly different tracks.

Track Option #1: Isolated Score & Songs Track
This would have featured a recreation of the exact presentation of the score and songs in the film - hideous cuts and tracked music - warts and all.

Track Option #2: Isolated Score & Unused Score
This would have been the same as above, bar the songs. In place of the songs, the unused pieces of score that were supposed to be there would be put back.

Track Option #3: Isolated Score As Intended
This would ignore the edits made to the score and tracked music. It would present the score as it was supposed to be heard.

I should be able to finish the 3rd option. This one is by far the easiest to create and, I believe, would be the most interesting to listen to. I can understand people might want the 1st and/or 2nd options... but I just don't have the time to sit down and do those properly. If someone wants to try their hand at either of those first options; knock yourselves out. What do you think I should do in regards to this problem? (I vote that I finish track option #3 and offer that up for the project)

No worries. Take a look at the Thunderball: UE DVD review, and the other Bond UE reviews if you want. It's pretty much a certainty that the R4's will be identical to the R2's.

You should not have to pay for any of that Banned Bond Fan stuff! Go take a search over at someplace like myspleen, and jump on a torrent if they still active.

I know. I mean afford to pay for shipping and blanks of course. I can't get them via torrents because even though I am a member of MySpleen and have a 512k connection - I have a 12GB limit per month. I have to share that with my family and can't really download anything of DVD size (I had to have my girlfriend download a 3GB Weird Al torrent because I couldn't grab it here without maxing our limit).

Well, I guess you are now freed up on some space. I've been following a series of DVD reviews counting down to the release of the new Bond Ultimate Edition DVDs here in Australia. They put up one review each day and the latest is "The Living Daylights". The "Happy Anniversary 007" documentary is on the new UE DVD for this film and runs at about 48mins (PAL). So, looks like you don't need to put it on this set.

I'd also just like to say that I am really looking forward to this and the Banned Bonds. When I can afford to get my hands on them I know they're going to be excellent.

BANNED BOND: The Criterion Collection on DVD (Released)

News about the Bond Ultimate Collection has been around for quite some time - I'm quite surprised you hadn't heard of them before now. I am greatly looking forward to picking up my R4 attache set on August 15th. However, your discs will still be a worthwhile addition what with the orginal audio and banned commentaries (still haven't managed to get them from anyone yet).

It is from the Legacy Collection, however they are DarthVong's. He was here on the OT forums briefly - but his life's too busy for custom covers at the moment (read about that on his blog). Anyway, as far as he's told me, DV is quite happy for his covers to be spread. I have his Austin Powers and Jaws covers and most of his "Legacy" and "Samhain" covers. I can provide them to you Rikter. We were organising a trade for some discs - I can upload a package of the covers for you in exchange or something.

In terms of novel trailers, I have:
* Darth Maul Shadow Hunter
* Shadows of the Empire
and the videogame one;
* Force Commander

I also have the Vector Prime commercial. This and the above ones were posted here on OT a long time ago and I've dug them up for you. I've uploaded the Vector Prime one to YouSendIt. Here's the link. Everyone: Please let SKot get it before the link expires.

In regards to videogame trailers/commercials/whatever-you-want-to-call-ems, I have a list of links to all of the active ones I could find via starwars.com and elsewhere. Did you want me to post those links at all?

The 3rd disc does not contain any deleted scenes (and FYI, the PAL version features very bad NTSC->PAL video).

How about Rob Zombie writing/directing the new Halloween film? What do you think? I read that it is going to be a remake, or a re-telling or something.

rob zombie will give the series a very much needed kick up the arse and hopefully treat us fans to something quite original.

As for Halloween III; I was under the impression that Anchor Bay has it still, but I can't be sure. I can understand why they skipped it and gave 4 and 5 the DiviMax treatment though. After all, there wouldn't be too many people that would buy a Special Edition of Halloween III (Sadly, I would though).

Let's hope that Rob Zombie does a decent job of reinventing it. I will always be a fan of the original, but it would be nice to see how they could 'reinvent' the original.
