Thanks, Jambe. I'll whip up some blurb text then. You never got back to me on which logo you meant when you said its positioning was off. Please do let me know.

By the way, I'd appreciate the menu art once the disc is done too - would like to use it in my new 'template' cover design.

And finally, boba feta, your cover was actually what inspired me to have a crack at a cover of my own again. I like it.

Need help on this custom cover for ROTE...
Time
Hi there. Just wanted everyone's opinion on the following cover. I'm trying to create a loose template that I can use to create covers for any/all Star Wars related discs. I know there are so many - but I'll just be doing ones that I want as I need them. Anyway, was wondering if anyone had a hi-res untouched copy of the Hyperspace "H" logo or ocpmovie's "Orange Cow Home Video" logo (the one I'm using has a gradient effect on it). Just wanted to have the highest resources used on each cover.

1st attempt at cover

Also, would like to get feedback from people about the cover. I basically cannibalised that other Return of the Ewok one - I believe it was Sluggo's. I did do a version with a shorter blurb that I wrote, expanded upon the special features list a little and didn't utitlise the quote and sketch. However, I just found myself too attached to them. I also made a higher-res replica of Sluggo's original cover.

I guess I'll make these covers available eventually. I'm still getting the template down but have started creating covers for Building Empire, Returning to Jedi & Deleted Magic in this style. I'll use this thread for feedback as I think the "Star Wars Cover Showcase" thread is ridiculously long and cluttered.

Covers of mine currently hosted online (including non-SW):
Daveytod's "24: The Missing Day"
Ocpmovie's "Return of the Ewok"

I'm glad you like it. When you say the logo's positioning is off, if you mean the back logo I was thinking about moving it under the Death Star II. If you mean the logo on the front cover; the 3D preview just makes it look that way. It is actually centered. Or did you mean that the front logo is too high up? I've since fixed that problem. Finally if you mean the one on the spine, then I guess you want me to move it further towards the top of the spine?

If you get back to me with specifics I'll post an updated cover.

There's no rush, Jambe. You know that we're all going to love it whenever it gets released. And we can all relate to this being a busy time of year.

Here's a preview of one of the 3 different covers I'm doing. If you're still popping in to read the thread; Jambe what do you think? I have several different ideas and this was just the easiest one to slap together. This version's practically complete bar text on the back:

Idea: The 1976 crawl
Time
The following storyboard has been posted on these forums before, however, I think it warrants being posted in this thread...

Where are the crawl-makers of the forum? Can't you just see "The Star Wars" appearing and the '76 crawl receding to the Sea Hawk music? This opening would work very well in all of the proposed reconstructed rough/lost cuts. I also still like to think that Jambe Davdar would attack the beginning of a "Star Wars" deconstruction doco with a piece like this.

Oh well. Still awesome. I've been wanting to see the E!THS special.

Oh, and just in case you didn't know; there are actually 3 "In-Depth" discs:
Volume 1: "In the Teeth of Jaws" & "Page to Screen: Jaws"
Volume 2: The laserdisc documentary (which has since appeared on the R1 30th anni DVD. I HATE the fact that the R4 is cut as per the UK R2)
Volume 3: "New England: Our Way" & The E!THS Special

But yes, torrenting the material that he has that you can't find in better quality is a great idea. I was lucky enough to trade with him for Volume 1 and the two Alien Archives discs. He was charging exhorbitant prices and I refused to pay for this stuff. He has a few other things that would be great to get somehow and then share freely. He unfortunately makes quite a bit of money on eBay selling all that stuff.

Idea: Borat - The Promotions
Time
*bump*

I've got a preview DVD that was a freebie in my local music store. It has the US theatrical trailer... well I assume it's the US one as the one I've seen is different. It also contains the first 4 minutes of the film and 5 deleted scenes. It's a letterboxed PAL disc with high-bitrate video of around 8-9Mb/s (the audio is 192kb/s). All up the disc runs for 11mins 43secs straight, i.e. there is no menu.

Here is the list of deleted scenes (with descriptive names) in no particular order:
* Borat asking about cheese in a supermarket
* Borat gets pulled over by the Dallas Police
* Borat at an animal shelter trying to get a dog
* Borat gets arrested for trying to cross the Mexico/US border
* Borat tells a doctor about the sexual diseases he's had

So, is this disc of any use to anyone? I suppose since it's only around 12mins I could rip it and upload it somewhere? I know that if the eventual DVD doesn't have these scenes (which is unlikely, but still...) then I'll be happy for having picked this freebie up.

Jambe, does this mean you won't be making a DL version? From what I've heard DVD2oneX isn't very good at compression either.

Also, I'm working on a cover - though I doubt it will become the official one. I just want to try my hand. Would I be able to get in on that first 20? I'd happily spread the RTJ love to other Aussies.

Looking for single-width 6-disc DVD-cases
Time
Laserschwert seeing those preview pics makes me realise that more than your 24 set need to be converted to English. You've got some great cover sets.

I also wanted to say that I was quite happy when I found many TV shows are now being repackaged here in Australia in the single-width-6-disc cases. I've got 24: Season 1 in such a case along with Smallville: Season 3 and hopefully soon Supernatural: Season 1. In any case, I managed to talk one of the staff at the store where I bought 24 to give me 3 of the 6-disc cases (empty of course). They had a couple on the stands behind the seasons of 24 to stock the display. I've yet to find somewhere that you can buy them (or at least, buy just a handful as opposed to 100 or 1000).

DFNYC has embraced HD-DVD and doesn't want to have a secondary/cheap DVD player just for PAL discs. He's converting all PAL discs so he can watch them on his HD-DVD player.

I must say that the USA is unlucky not having widespread support for PAL in DVD players and TVs. I know the pros/cons of NTSC and PAL - but at least here in Australia basically all TVs and DVD players can do both NTSC and PAL.
