Plot Point Clarification---Please (re ESB)
Time
Oh, you never saw the deleted scene from ANH where Vader finds Luke's wallet? He dropped it near where the Millennium Falcon was parked on the Death Star. Vader notices it on the ground, picks it up, rifles through it, makes sure no one's looking, and steals ten bucks. It's on the 1992 Malaysian Laserdisc set that's in Anamorphic Widescreen with a 5:1 ratio.

Okay, I lied about all that. I have no idea.

Continuity Errors in the OT

One thing I noticed the other night while watching ANH - at the very beginning, when the Tantive IV is being attacked, Threepio says, "There'll be no escape for the Princess this time!" or something like that. Then, when he's watching the hologram of the Princess on Tatooine and Luke asks, "Who is she?", Golden Rod says he doesn't know exactly, but that she might be somebody important.

What? How could he not know who the Princess was all of a sudden? Could he not see the hologram that well? Were his restraining bolts too tight? This freaked me out.

If GL EVER releases the originals...what should the covers be?

Originals, but I won't whine if we get the faces.

EDIT: You know, as long as he releases the originals, it could be the Kathy Bates hot tub scene from About Schmidt on the cover for all I care.

Dude, that's the only way Lucas could regain any street cred, if he put naked hot tub Kathy Bates on the cover. Maybe he could digitally put a Darth Vader mask on her.

Don't hate the Ewoks! Please! But I think you're right--Lucas has no soul. And where did it go? Well, I think it involves a Faust story that went wrong. Rick McCallum is Satan, and told Lucas that he would make his works amazing beyond all description if he gave McCallum his soul, but as we all know now, 'Satan' was lying.

Yeah, enough Ewok hating already. Lay off the Ewok haterade.

My letter writing campaign to Dear Old George launches tomorrow, July 19th. If you're unhappy about the DVDs only having the SEs (and I know a lot of you here are), then drop a letter or note or postcard in the mail tomorrow to let Lucas know. Tell him you want the unmolested versions on DVD too! Here's the address:

George Lucas
c/o Lucasfilm Ltd.
P.O. Box 10228
San Rafael, CA 94912

Sure, he probably doesn't read his own mail - hell, he probably hasn't licked an envelope himself in twenty years - but if we send enough mail, someone will take notice. What's 37 cents if it might possibly go towards saving some of the most important films ever made? Come on now!

Music!

Yeah, I'm a rocker:

Ramones
Replacements
The Gits
Gluecifer
Van Halen
Circle Jerks
Distillers
Megadeth
The Damned
Fear
Motorhead
Danzig
The Who
X

I do like some rap, though. Recent CD purchases include:

Beastie Boys - "To The Five Boroughs"
Jay z - "The Black Album"
Dead Prez - "RBG"

I've also been known to listen to the film scores of John Williams, novelty disco hits, television theme song compilations, obnoxious pop punk from the mid-nineties, Mojo Nixon, and any of the major grunge bands except for Pearl Jam.

The CD I'm really jonesin' for right now is "Foggy Mountain Breakdown" by Flatts & Scruggs. God Damn that infectious banjo!

I'll buy your book. Great title, altought it could be misleading, people can think it's about someone who hates SW, which is actually the opposite. Maybe it should be called "George Lucas Ruined my Life", or "SW SE Ruined my Life".

Cool, on July 19th? That's my birthday.

Well, the title is supposed to be tongue-in-cheek. It should be pretty obvious after you read the introduction. But you're right, I'm sure a few people will misinterpret it. We'll see when it gets published...

I knew July 19th had to be somebody's birthday! Happy B-Day, a month and how ever many days in advance.

Hey everyone, my name's James. Long time visitor, first time poster. Pleased to meet ya.

I'm trying to organize a letter writing campaign to let Lucas know that a good number of fans are upset over the exclusion of the originals from DVD. I'm not trying to start a war here; if you're into the "SEs," that's cool. I'm not out to change anyone's mind. However, if you're not into the "SEs" and you want to sound off, join us up with us and send Georgie Boy a letter of discontent on July 19th. There's more info at my website:

http://www.starwarsruinedmylife.com

Again, I'm not trying to stir anything up here. Just wanted to clue you in. In reading some of the posts on this board, I see some of you are just as passionate regarding this issue as I am.

In case anyone is wondering, "Star Wars Ruined My Life" is the title of the book I'm currently trying to get published. It's a reflection on the influence the movies had on me growing up. If anyone knows a publisher desperate for a hilarious work of non-fiction, let me know!

Glad to finally be on here!
