An exact quote from Lucas on Greedo shooting first.
Time
If I could jump in here, I personally don't think that Greedo was absolutely definitely 100% going to shoot Han. I mean, if he had shot and killed Han right then and there, he'd have a 170 lbs. dead body to drag all the way from the cantina to Jabba's palace. That's, what, at least ten miles as the crow flies? Greedo doesn't look strong enough. No upper body strength. He knew that wasn't going to happen. Unfortunately, he wasn't sharp enough to march Han right out of that cantina the moment he confronted him. Instead, he let him sit down, relaxed the "keep your hands where I can see them" rule, and, well, that was that.

And even if Greedo wasn't going to take him to Jabba, even if his intent was to collect Han's cash and "forget" he found him, Han clearly stated that he didn't have the money on him. I suppose Han could have been lying, but the only way Greedo would have known for sure is if he had kept Han on his feet and searched him. If he had shot Han dead with empty pockets, he would have been totally fucked. But, as Darth Chaltab put it, our green friend was too busy gloating like a Bond villain to think any of these scenarios through.

That's what I think, at least. I could be (totally) wrong.

Star Wars Trilogy tops IGN's "Most Wanted DVDs"

And I agree with their number 3 movie "Song of the South." I've seen it in bootleg, and they are right. That movie desperatly needs to be released. So much historiscal signifigance is a part of that movie. Because of it, the first black man in Disney won some award, and everybody has heard the songs "Mr. Blue Bird on my Shoulder" and "Zippidy-doo dah, Zippidy-Day." What are they from? Yup, this movie. But the NAACP won't tolerate Disney to put it on DVD because "It's Racist, yo."

Not to mention the fact that Splash Mountain, Disney World's biggest attraction, is based entirely in and around that movie. I've been on that ride a handful of times, and every time I make it a point to yell out, "Where's Uncle Remus?!" as the flume goes down the drop.

the Star Wars Synchronicity Music Project
Time

For those of you who have shown a passing interest in the previous synchronicity experiments I’ve posted about, I wanted to let you know I have officially begun my quest to find a record that synchs up with “Star Wars” a la “Dark Side of the Moon” and “Wizard of Oz.” I post the results of a new experiment every day in my blog:

http://jamesgreenejr.blogspot.com

My friends convinced me to do theme weeks, so that makes it a little more fun and wacky. Take a look, if you feel inclined.

Interestingly enough, I recently tried “Dark Side of the Moon” with “Star Wars” and got more synchs than I have with any other record so far:

Dark Side of the Space Station

I guess there’s just something about that album.

Odelay of the Jedi
Time
Hey, a month or so ago I posted about the weird things I saw when I tried synching up a White Zombie album with ANH. A few of you seemed interested, and I've been doing experiments like that ever since, so I thought I'd let you know that today I watched ROTJ with "Odelay" by Beck and witnessed some pretty cool moments of synchronicity. I wrote about it in my blog:

http://jamesgreenejr.blogspot.com

All the deets are there. This was the best one I've done since the White Zombie one. Neither of them come close to the "Oz" Floyd thing, but they're still freaky in their own right. Well, just thought I'd letcha know, in case you're bored and looking for something to read.

Damn those credits!!

I often wonder what ROTJ would have looked like had Spielberg directed. I imagine it would have been just as good, if not better. Oh well, it didn't happen. I'm happy the way it looks from 1983.

When I found out that Spielberg was originally to direct i was like: "Damn you Director's Guild! Damn you to hell!"

But seriously, what honestly prevented Lucas from getting Spielberg? Couldn't he have just told the Director's Guild to fuck off, and have Spielberg direct anyway?

Yeah, they were only like the two hottest directors/producers in Hollywood at the time. There's probably more to it that we won't know about until after they both die and their surviving family members write books.

I wish Anakin and Padme had been played by......

Hey, does anyone know anything about Jonathan Brandis supposedly auditioning or being in the running for Anakin? I read that on Imdb.com a zillion years ago, and I never confirmed it anywhere else. He could have done a good job, I think. I mean, based on his work in "Sidekicks." Maybe I'm biased; we were born in the same town.

I've heard some stories about him trying out for the part. It's really creepy though that he killed himself two years ago. It still doesn't seem real.

Yeah, that was a real shock when I heard about it. The last person in the world you would have imagined killing themselves. Very upsetting. I would have liked to see him swinging a lightsaber around. Maybe one day his audition tape will surface.

La Star Wars Cisto - watching the 6 Star Wars films at once
Time

I don’t know if anyone remembers me, but I’ve posted here a handful of times before. Good forum, I dig it a lot.

Anyway, the other day someone sent me that thing about the guy who watched all six SW films at once. Well, that awoke my urge to see if ANH, TESB, or ROTJ synched up with any records I own a la “Dark Side of the Moon” & “The Wizard of Oz.” I chose to watch ANH along with White Zombie’s “La Sexorcisto: Devil Music Vol. 1.” Surprisingly, there were a lot of moments where things matched up in a spooky way. If you’re interested in this kind of junk, check out the list I made at my website:

So, uh, yeah. I guess I have too much time on my hands. Some of that stuff is pretty weird, though.

So Did George Lucas Really Rape Our Childhood?
Time
Is it even possible to rape someone's childhood? Maybe while it's happening. I don't think you can rape an period of someone's life once it's already in the past. I don't know. If a tree falls in the woods...???

I think this was just a reactionary phrase coined by someone on a message board long ago to counter some heartfelt diatribe. Personally, I think "George Lucas raped 'Star Wars'" is more accurate. If Lucas did rape my childhood, he did it with "Howard the Duck." I saw duck boobs and I was never the same.
