Harmy's STAR WARS Despecialized Edition HD - V2.7 - MKV (Released)
Time

Hi.

I'm also a Mac user and I use Ivi, available on the Mac App Store for a few bucks (about €4 if I remember correctly). It has a very good Quality/Size ratio. Only downside is you can't convert DVD ripped as a VIDEO_TS folder. So now I'm using MakeMKV to rip them, but that's another story. I can tell it works, I have the despecialized trilogy in my iTunes library.

For playing Mkvs on an Apple TV without RE-encoding, you can try Video stream if you own an iOS device (don't forget to install the Mac client).

Both solutions work great. Hope it helps.

So, guys, I was thinking, what would you think if I released v2.1 as AVCHD and MKV  now (or in the near future anyway) and then kept the full BD release until the rest of the trilogy is done and then made a cohesive trilogy BD release? I really want the BD to be worthwhile content wise, and I just don't have the time to do that to my complete satisfaction just now; plus the lossless audio isn't available yet.

When the BDs are done, I could probably even just release the BD files separately without the video stream, so that those who already have the v2.1 MKV don't have to download the whole thing.

The thing is on one hand, I want the BD So bad that I made a temporary one on a BD-RE, that said without anything else than the movie itself. On the other hand, you're a college student, and I myself am a college dropout with the irony that I left everything for studying, ending up with health issues and no diploma. Go for the best, Harmy you already blessed us with the mkv, maybe someone else could do the BD itself (even if it's just with menus), this person could even use the test animation you posted here and that is beautiful. Like others suggested, you could also just make an extras BD once the trilogy is done. After all, I bought the Star Wars 9 disc BD set mainly because I wanted the extras discs (and because I like Episode 3 even if I hate the other two prequels). I'd even love to contribute by doing the BD myself, but I have no clue on how to make a BD menu. Anyone?

EXAMS SUCCESSFULLY DONE!!!! I'M FINALLY FREE!!!

Time to start encoding the AVCHD and then working on the BD :-)

Congratulations! Now, the worst part, the wait. Upon finishing my exams while graduating high school (and later in college), I wouldn't sleep until I get the results :-).

Do you have an idea of when the BD would be completed? I can't wait for it so much that I made a temporary BD that I'll burn on a BD-RE... if I receive them someday.

FYI, the complete Project Threepio has pre-made SUP files for muxing onto DVD and Blu-ray.  No scripting required.

Then what are the .pl and .dll for?

They are included with the project in case people want to make alterations to the subtitles or add new languages.  I think Harmy just included them because he wasn't sure what they were for.  Take a look at the README file to see more about the project, it specifically says you shouldn't ever need to use the scripts under normal circumstances.

Take any more Project Threepio questions over to my thread, please (link in my signature).

Thanks for the info. I was really wondering because when torrenting v2.0, it caused rejects from torrent websites. I'd be very interested to get them once the update is ready. Thanks in advance.

I know Mattmanomega achieved that via "chapter branching" for his Rebellion Star Wars DVD with the '77 and '81 openings. On other news, I bought a BD-RE just because I can't wait for the Blu-ray to come out. I hope my poor Audio/Video skills will suffice with the scripts within the threepio folder. BTW, finally got a chance to play it on my TV by sending it to my set top box. So far so good!

Preserving "French" Original Trilogy - ANH V1.0 released - ESB in progress
Time

I just discovered this project on Harmy's Despecialized Edition Remastered (which I'm trying to play on my TV at the moment) project page and I'm amazed because I was wondering if we could choose an alternative opening crawl on Harmy's BD since I rediscovered the original French one on YouTube. I must say I watched La Guerre des etoiles a lot in the past few months and I discovered things that make me sick from the French dub (Vader's voice which isn't Georges Aminel's, Chewbacca being called Chiktabba, ...) and so I start being used to watch it in English. Is letting us choose between French and English part of your project?

Quick question: While I remember watching "La guerre des étoiles" with this opening crawl on TV circa 1993, I watched Empire and ROTJ years later, did they also have the "La Guerre des étoiles" name or are them just "Star Wars"?

in need of some tech support here - I am almost done downloading the MKV file and by BD player does play MKV files.  Can I just plug my external HD into my BD player via USB and watch this if I am currently downloading on a Mac computer?

Depends on your Blu ray player. With mine it's possible, while it wasn't on my previous one.

How can watch the movie dubbed? I find it quite weird to be on a star wars fan site and to see so much talk about dubs. I mean I understand for the regular joe in france or italy to see films dubbed, but here, among movie fans... it's strange

What if I want to show it to my friends and relatives who don't speak english? They like movies too, why shouldn't they be able to see it?

Dubbing isn't so bad as it is thought of in the USA, IMHO. You guys have terrific voice actors, piss poor dubbers (I've heard them). We have no voice actors (people don't even know what they are) and terrific dubbers (maybe not so much the last generation, but their fathers and grandfathers we brilliant)

Voice acting and dubbing, two distinct (if similar) arts for two different cultures. That's my tuppence worth, anyway.

I'm Swedish and the only thing we dub is (small)children movies.

Well I guess it is what you're used to, to me it would be just like listening to "born to run" with a cover singer backed up by the e street band.

I'm sure it helps a lot if you are good at english. Most folk under 50 could watch a movie without subtitles and get most of the story. That doesn't work in france or italy

Well, I am French and am really good at speaking, and even more, at understanding English (I had between 19 and 19.3 out of 20 throughout college). And as I realized it when my American cousins came visit us in July, I am the only one in my family who can speak decent English (I mean out of non native English speaking family, of course). At least, we are aware that the average French guy can't mutter a single correct sentence in English (can't speak for Italians even if 2 of my grandparents were born and raised in Italy), but we also know that most people in Northern Europe are almost fluent in English.

Still, while I watch most TV shows I discovered after my English became good enough to understand the plot and most of the jokes in English, I watch all my movies dubbed in French. The reason? Apart for The Simpsons and House, we have a terrible dubbing in TV shows, while dubbing for most movies is excellent. Strangely, I noticed Vader's voice change between SW and ESB in French dubbing recently, and now that I realized how poor it is in SW, I now can only watch it in English.

EDIT: And while I was posting this uninteresting post, Harmy released all the info about the holy grail. ??
