This comic sounds interesting, but what the hell? They’re just going to call it “Darth Vader” and make the first issue number 1 like they haven’t already done that exact thing?

Wait, what the hell? I prefer Soule to Gillen so I’m sure I’m going to enjoy this, but this feels seriously halfassed at first blush.

4K restoration on Star Wars
Time

I wouldn’t be thrilled with only a new SE release, but I would probably shell out some cash if it was a new and better transfer than the current Blu-ray, regardless of the status of the OOT. I do very much prefer the unaltered versions, but I’m not as much of a hardliner about it as most of the others here. I sometimes throw on the SE after watching prequel edits, and if we got a really good new master I could see myself watching it more frequently (albeit always timing bathroom breaks and snack runs to coincide with the more egregious changes). And as many others have stated, any release that provides a superior source for Despecialized 3.0 isn’t all bad. I haven’t lost all faith as far as the OOT is concerned yet, though, so I’m just going to wait and see.

STAR WARS: REBELS (animated tv series) - a general discussion thread

I’ve really liked the last couple of episodes. Looks like we’re leaning into Rogue One with this last one. Once R1 comes out on Blu, I’m hoping we can do a comparison to see if this fleet is the exact fleet at Scarif.

Well I’m sure that the Flurry type carrier isn’t at Scarif (I forget what they call that ship in the new canon, but that design was lifted straight from Legends). Pablo Hidalgo says in this week’s recap video that most but not all of the ships from the end of this episode are in Rogue One, and that he just figures that the ships missing from the film are undergoing refits or repairs at the time and aren’t battle-ready.

Rogue One * Spoilers * Thread

I’d enjoy a commentary and more features, but I’m not burning for them enough to wait six months to see if there’s a different release or to double dip. I’ll buy these again when they’re out in 4K (and I have a 4K setup to watch them on), and hopefully those future releases will have all of the features, but until then I prefer to get the basic version right away.

I’m with you, anything about Mandalore puts me to sleep. Proud warrior races in general are one of the dullest things in fiction, IMO. The only thing I’ve ever found interesting about the various Mandalorian arcs that Rebels and TCW have done was the sexual tension between Obi-Wan and Satine. Ever since she died, all it is is a bunch of interchangeable jerks yammering on endlessly about honor.

GOUT Technicolor regrade (single pass) (* unfinished project * - lots of info)

Apologies if this has been addressed, but what are your plans to release this, Dre (if indeed you have any such plans)? Are you considering combining this with the upscaling project you were working on a while back? I really enjoyed following that thread and was kind of bummed when it fizzled out without a finished product. I’d love to see that brought back in this new context.

The Last Jedi And What It Could Mean
Time

I saw somewhere that the grammatical structure of the official Slovenian translation of the title suggests that “Jedi” is indeed singular in this case (not speaking Slovenian, I can’t really weigh in myself). Anyway, I think it just refers to Luke at this particular point on the timeline. I don’t think that it has to preclude the possibility of more Jedi later on; Luke is simply the last Jedi as of his meeting with Rey in 35 ABY (or whatever it is). Anything can happen when the story progresses.

Star Wars "Official" Canon Content Thread

Our second official comics crossover will be Star Wars: Screaming Citadel.

Very excited about this. I love Aphra and the pairing of her and Luke is sure to produce some funny stuff. And the Gothic horror angle sounds amazing in theory.

I’m fairly interested in the Aftermath series though am holding off until it’s done so I can binge read it.

I thought the first two were all right once you get past the too-colloquial-for-Star-Wars writing style. Certainly better than Heir to the Jedi, at any rate. The main story with the new Rebel characters doesn’t really do anything for me, but everything happening on the Imperial side and the little snatches of what’s going on in the galaxy at large that you get in the interludes are some of the most intriguing content we’ve gotten so far. I’ve read all of the adult novels except Dark Disciple, Twilight Company, and the Rogue One novelization, as well at Lost Stars, Ahsoka, and the Journey to The Force Awakens character novellas for the YA stuff (I’m able to listen to audiobooks at work, so it’s pretty easy to keep up). The real standout so far is definitely Bloodline. I’d definitely recommend that over the Aftermath books, but I think those are worth picking up if you’ve got the time and interest as well.
