Has the ANH screening happened yet, or is that tomorrow? I’m curious as to whether they’ll finally unveil their new SE transfer. I believe they’re showing it back to back with Rogue One, and if they plan on just showing the Lowry again it’ll look extra terrible by comparison.
I do think I remember reading somewhere that Struzan said he didn’t want to be the main poster guy again in this new era. He’s more or less retired now, isn’t he? I thought that TFA D23 poster was the first thing he’d done in a few years.

And to get back on topic, I’m giving up the idea that anything related to a new release of the OT will be announced at Celebration if they don’t mention it at this first panel. It would make absolutely no sense to do it at any other time, so if we haven’t heard anything by 12:30 today, I’m going to stop worrying about it and focus on enjoying the TLJ stuff.
Do they make the streams public on YouTube right after they’ve aired live? Will be missing the live stream today, but hope to be able to watch it once I get home.
Either way, can’t wait to refresh this thread in a few hours…
The panels are usually available within a few hours, and they also rerun them on the live stream after the day’s last event. If there’s a trailer, that’ll be available immediately after the panel. I’m going to at least be able to listen to the audio at work, so I’m thankful for that.
I cannot imagine a scenario where they don’t save everything about TLJ for Friday’s panel.
Anyone else pick up Thrawn yesterday? I’m about a hundred pages in. Zahn’s style paired with the more sober tone of the new canon is working better than I expected. I reread the old trilogy last year after the new book was announced, and those books are a lot wackier than people seem to remember. This new one strikes a good balance.
This’ll be fun. Sort of in the tradition of the old “Tales from . . .” collections.

I watched that today too, but I was too distracted by how weird it was to see that clip without the music to pay much attention to the image. I’ll have to look out for it next time.
I’m having trouble confirming because the Celebration site is a navigational nightmare, but I believe there’s a major panel called “The Future of Star Wars” or something to that effect. That seems to me like a more appropriate place to announce new shows or anthology films than the 40th anniversary panel.
Was that MSW article about the OUT ever debunked? That’s still the most compelling evidence for me. Their track record is superb.
Anyone else really surprised by how normal and mellow Forest Whitaker’s speaking voice is on the special features? I don’t think I’ve ever heard him not doing a voice for a character before.

I’m sure it won’t be a TLJ trailer, because that has its own panel the next day, and also none of the new actors or directors associated with the ST are on the panel. Likewise, no one with anything to do with the Han Solo film is listed for the 40th anniversary panel, and them showing up seems like a pretty random surprise. My money is still on big shiny box set of a new SE transfer that includes the theatrical cuts as “bonus content”, just like the GOUT but hopefully not terrible.
It’s a code you can redeem with the service of your choice. I tend to use Vudu because most Blu-rays from Walmart come with a Vudu copy when you scan the receipt whether the disc itself comes with a code or not, and I like to have these things in the same place.

Just snagged a copy of the ANH GOUT for $6 at a record/comic store. I don’t think I’ve ever seen it for less than $35 before now. Also, five Bantam-era novels for a buck each. It was a cool day.
I like TFA. I like Rian Johnson’s previous work better than J. J. Abrams’s. Therefore, I am expecting to like TLJ at least as much as TFA, probably more.
Nine or ten months, I’d say.

The idea they mention for a story about Thrawn’s relationship with Vader doesn’t really float my boat, but I’m hoping he’s got some more interesting ideas that he can’t go into so as not to spoil anything on Rebels. I’ve said this in the Rebels thread already, but I’d love to see Thrawn disappear into the Unknown Regions at some point next season and then reappear later in the timeline. Zahn claims he wants to write four Thrawn books; I can’t imagine they’d all be set between III and IV.
When you watch R1 and ANH back to back, it seems like Vader is so pissed off when he boards the Tantive IV because everyone keeps waking him up and making him get out of the tank.
I’m willing to bet that he also A.) hasn’t seen the TV shows and B.) hates the TV shows.
While we’re on the topic of visual depictions of EU characters, the official character design for Garm bel Iblis is exactly nothing like what I had in my head when I read the books. To me he was and always will be Philip Baker Hall circa 1995.
I really don’t think an OUT release has to be framed as something that banishes the SE. I think it’s most likely that it would be packaged with the SE and billed as bonus material.
I’m not so sure he is dead. The shot from Thrawn’s blaster left a hole in the ground, so it seems like the Bendu vanished before Thrawn pulled the trigger. Which calls into question whether the Bendu was actually physically present to begin with.
Also, I’m really hoping we get Pellaeon next season. Thrawn’s always been the kind of character who works best when paired with a Watson figure, and with Constantine dead and Kallus defected, there’s an underling vacuum that he could step into nicely.
I want Kanan and Ezra to follow Thrawn into the unknown regions at the end of season 4 and then all of them to turn up in whatever the new show Filoni is working on that’s supposedly set between the OT and ST.
