I’ve softened on the prequels ever since the new movies started coming out. When it looked like the series was over forever it seemed like a bigger deal, but now that Star Wars movies are going to continue indefinitely, I’m not bothered by three of them being pretty bad, in much the same way that I don’t get angry about a bad James Bond or Star Trek movie.
Aren’t there rumors that they’re working on a practical Jabba anyway? I’m expecting something like Unkar Plutt in TFA, with a practical body and CGI face.
I think that’s different. Anakin only came from Tatooine because George wanted to go there, it was never part of the character before TPM. Arbitrarily deciding Anakin is from Tatooine just so you can include it in the film =/= checking in on Jabba on the planet where we already know he is.
I really hope Williams finishes the ST, but beyond that I’d be perfectly happy to see Giacchino become a series regular. I also still want to hear Alexandre Desplat’s take.
Tatooine would make a lot of sense if Jabba is involved. I’d be fine with seeing it again in this context. I think there’s a difference between going there in a spinoff because it’s established that one of the characters lives there and going out of your way to invent contrived reasons to keep returning in every single film like it was in the PT.
Yeah, Thrawn was cool, but it’s pretty low-key compared to the original books. I wasn’t wild about Dark Tide because I really hate Corran Horn, but it was worthwhile just to get to Luceno’s Han-centric duology immediately after.
I can live with that as long as it means I don’t have to play basketball.

I was just at the book store and I noticed that the current paperback anthology of the OT novelizations has the slightly taller dimensions of the canon Disney novels rather than the traditional mass market paperback size that all the Legends material is. Maybe they did quietly recanonize them after all.
I was bored to tears when I started Darth Plagueis a while back. Darth Bane too. I’m interested in the lore, but I think I need to accept the fact that the whole grimdark ancient Sith thing is never going to do it for me and I ought to just skim wookieepedia for the broad strokes.
Still doesn’t work, I get the same jerky start-stop playback as when I try to burn Hal’s prequels to discs. I think my player just can’t handle it. USB playback it is, then.

Tried to burn this to a disc with TSMuxer but it wouldn’t play. Does anyone know if there’s an easy fix in the settings? I just used the defaults on my first try. Not too keen on going the trial-and-error route.
Meh, the quality of the impression wasn’t what made me cringe so much as his overall vibe. He seemed really unduly pleased with himself. Anyway, to address the difference between impressions and acting, can you imagine if Chris Pine had done a Shatner impression for his Kirk? That’s what Ingruber as Han would amount to.
All he’s doing in that clip is the same decent impression that he did in those cringe-y Han Solo impression youtube videos. If we were talking about a five minute flashback, fine, but there’s no way that kid’s party trick could carry an entire movie.
He was an impersonator, not an actor.

The guy who works at the comic shop I go to has a theory that the shifting release date has more to do with the Frozen sequel than anything else. I haven’t looked into it myself yet, but that sounds plausible to me.
I believe the better mindset is to worry how well the actor “acts” Han Solo and not so much looks alone.

Same, I snagged SW at a comic shop for $5 a few weeks ago so I finally ordered the other two at $20 each to round out the set.

I think you’re probably fine with the blu-rays. When in doubt, the current official release is a good rule of thumb. Especially since it’s looking more and more like they’ll just ride out the 2011 discs until they do a 4K release rather than putting out a remastered SE in the meantime.
