MagnoliaFan Edits: Ep I "Balance Of The Force", and Ep II "The Clone War" (Released)
Time

hi all,

i've uploaded the V1 SL DVD of "balance of the force" (which i received from rikter in 2004) to rapidshare.  links are available via linktalk.

also, i've created entries for magnoliafan's "balance of the force" over at fanedit.org - to condense a bunch of great information in this thread (and rikter's DVD thread) - boon should have it posted to the website soon.

i will be doing the same with "the clone war" tomorrow, so check link talk again tomorrow night for more download links :)

P.S. if anyone has additional subtitles for either of magnoliafan's edits, i would be very grateful for a PM :)

Treasure Island (1990) laserdisc preservation (Released)
Time

hi all,

so someone just posted a laserdisc transfer of treasure island (1990, imdb: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0100813/ ) where the pirate ships are moored .

it was split onto 2 DVD5 discs, horribly interlaced and included PCM audio.

this was one of my favorites as a kid so i spent some time cleaning up the source for a single DVD5 and an AVI to share and i’ve upped them both where the demons roam.

i think it turned out great and thought to give back at least a fraction for all the great preservation projects originating from this board.

thanks,

jbs

Criterion Collection: Adventures of Baron Munchausen & The Fisher King (Released)
Time

i just picked up munchausen on bluray and watched it this week.  HOLY GOD that is an amazing transfer considering it's age.

i recommend anyone to pick up this title. it is really a great bluray transfer and the extras! oh the extras...

the commentary is different than the criterion collection.

Info Wanted: Regarding the porting and preservation of commentary tracks (for example, Ratatouille or Stardust)
Time
this would fall under custom dvd projects (and perhaps preservations). usually it is dealing with OOP (i.e. laserdisc, etc.) so i in my opinion would have to be treated differently for readily available content.

boon et al will chime in for the official comment, etc. but i'm guessing simply porting bluray content won't go over well.

that being said, i do like these kinda projects :)

Info Wanted: any fan edits of (gasp) '2001'?
Time
this thread reminds me of my best friend whom i've converted into a film buff from (gasp!) one of those "michael bay"-lover types.

i made him watch 2001 for the first time and the space segment landing was HILARIOUS!

he just kept looking at me like "WTF???" and i started laughing so he got frustrated, turned off the film and refused to talk about it...

CLASSIC!

no. i wouldn't change this film.

(we've watched this again with a new appreciation )

that happens to my friends ps2 also. ALL of my burns play that way on his ps2 but are fine on every dvd player i've tried them on.
