How does everyone feel about the lightsaber exchange? It’s fine when Leia first hands it to Rey to train but the back and forth later on seems kinda pointless. Rey already earned it from her experience in the previous two films.

I get what you’re saying but to me it just seemed like a setup to a “cute” moment later on in the film.

@jkimm, If you cut it that heavy you’ll miss the “never underestimate a droid” line. If you use a cut away to bb8 you can still keep that line of dialogue.

I was actually going to suggest removing Rey saying that line to BB8 on the skiff during the chase scene too. Seems highly unlikely that she would doubt a droids ability.

Not sure if this has been discussed already but what do you think of removing Rey handing the lightsaber back to Leia and then having it given back to her moments later?

Does anybody else find it odd that Luke’s hair blows in the wind? He is a ghost after all.

Not sure about that, theres barely any Luke as it is and feels very unnecessary.

He sounds so condescending and the line seems tacked on. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Overall huge improvement to the original. Really love the ending with the chess scene and falcon flying off into the distance. Here are a few nitpicks that bug me:

9:35 - Cut Rey “ugh”.

27:07 - Remove “they fly now”.

55:40 - Trim stormtroopers “It’s good”, Rey “you’re relieved that we’re here”, stormtroopers “thank goodness your here” and “welcome guys”.

107:30 - Cut Goonie dagger. Majoras_wraths’s suggestion of adding Sith whispers is a great idea.

128:47 - Remove Luke saying “what are you doing?”

Really enjoying this. The eye rolling “comedic” scenes actually work really well in this style.

The sound seems to be the trickiest part of editing this series and you’re nailing it.

Love this. The harmonica seems really loud during Han and Chewie’s conversation though. Maybe it’s just my headphones?

Great job with the new music between 1 and 2. I suppose Mando might have entered the cave to see if it was decent to use as shelter. I’m torn about The Child eating the frog creature due to its size. No way he’d be able to get that down. 😃

Haha, balloon stormtroopers deflate when shot. Thanks for the input. I tried tweaking the sound around Finn sinking.

Just wanted to share a few scenes that I’ve made slight trims to. I know it’s all subjective but am curious to hear any feedback.

•Shortened Palpatine electrocuting himself. Seems like he would’ve stopped using force lightning after half of his face had been blown off. (using the amazing jedi ghost version by Jonh).

•Removed Kylo’s tie exploding after the mile long roll. The explosion definitely would have killed him.

•Removed stormtrooper finding dagger in Chewie’s bag after being captured. We saw Chewie take the dagger and can already assume that the First Order would find it on him.

Agree with what NeverarGreat said about C3P0 having a silent moment. All three of these films suffer from the characters trying to explain what’s going on.

What do you think about cutting the star destroyers breaking through the ice? It’s as if the Emperor told everybody to hide until he gives the cue (like a surprise party).

•Kylo “What could you give me?”
•Emperor “Everything”
•Remove Emperor raising his hands and saying “a new empire”
•As the lightning is flashing, it cuts to the fleet of star destroyers already in the air.
•Emperor “The might of the Final Order will soon be ready…”

I suppose they are nitpicky but thought I’d throw them in as a suggestion.

-Remove Finn saying “Did you see that, did you see that?” Poe “I saw it”.
They sound like little kids and it seems excessive.

-Remove Poe saying “well I ain’t using it” and instead just have him say “FN huh, Finn, I’m gonna call you Finn”.
That line sounds so hokey (I know it’s all subjective).

-Remove TIE fighter exploding after being sucked into the sand.
The thing that bugs me most about this scene is the distance between Finn backing up as it’s sinking compared to when it explodes. Also, what’s the point really? Isn’t having it completely sink underground enough?
