so Lucas decides to fix a stupid change with an even worse one...
its usually what he does...

You see that as a bad thing. I like it. Rather then just talking this new Jabba has more emotion. He feels more alive. This is how he should have been in 1997.

In ANH, the Greedo scene has been tightened. From leaked footage, Greedo now shoots exactly 2 FRAMES before Han does. That's less than 1/10th of a second at 24 frames per second. Also, in both the SE and the DVD Han shoots Greedo TWICE. Also, the DVD restores Han's, "Yes, I bet you have," as it sounded pre-SE.

Jabba's appearance in ANH has been redone from scratch and screenshots from the SE are no more representative of the DVD than pictures of the Irish actor who was on the set. Jabba looks a LOT better on the DVD, better than his appearance in Episode I.

Also, the DVD of ESB removes the scream added when Luke jumps after the duel, and actually FIXES flaws in the original like in the shot on the Executor bridge that is obviously flipped backwards, the officers uniforms have been digitally corrected so they appear to be turned around correctly. That is an indisputable improvement.

Finally, the incredible work done restoring the sharpness and detail of the film and recompositing original effects will make the blending of digital effects into the movie appear far more seamless. When you actually watch the films you will feel the story being told more intensely than before simply because you can see so much more detail and it seems so much more real.

Experience the films as they are now. Hear the story in your mind based on what you see and hear, not on what you remember. Feel, don't think.

Not only does Jabba look better but his facial expressions and hand gesters have been changed. He seems more real in so many ways. For example when Han steps on his tail he now gives a look after of being seriously pissed off then gives a big smile when Han offers him more money. I never had to much of a problem with the way Jabba looked before but in comparision with this much better model he looked bad.

Actually, I didn't mind Jango at all, but I do mind changing Boba. The original actor actually sounds pretty close as it is, why change it? This is definallu a case of SNAFU.

I agree. Boba has a really cool voice before and I believe it is possible for a clone to have a slightly different voice. Same as an identical twin can have a slightly different voice.

Hal you put the old Jabba in the montoge. You forget that for these DVDs use a much better model will be used. Also how the fuck can anyone complain about the new Wampa. Thats my favorite change. I never liked the hidden monster thing. Its just badly done originally. The arguement that it was more suspensful is just stupid. This isn't Alien this is Star Wars. At least in those suspense movies we do see the monster at the end. Here we never see it. I want to see the fucking thing. Also the new Wampa was definutly originally intended. We even see some of the old test wampa footage that didn't work in the 1979 trailer. Why the hell in Gods hell would anyone want the sarlacc to be a hole in the ground. It looks now like a living creature and more dangerous and threatning. Another change I love. You liked the old Mos Eislay. It didn't fit in with the future world of Star Wars. It was bland and boring. Its so much more majestice then before and more full of life. Greedo shooting first I agree with you on. I don't like that. However it looks alot better then it did in 1997. Plus all the whinning for two seconds of cinema.

You kind of missed the point of the first two... Cameron was saying you could change the future.

In Terminator 2 he might have. In Terminator 1 there is no doubt that it shows an unchangable future. Look at how John Connor gets concieved. His father is a man from the future he sends back. If the future could be changed John Connor would not excist. John Connors father was never someone else. He knew Kyle was his father when he sent him back. Also remember Sarahs picture. We see it in the future flashback. It was taken because of Sarah talking about her experiance with Kyle. Also the chip in the lab (which was filmed for the first movie before being deleted). Skynet would not have been invented if Skynet haden't sent the Terminator through time. Remember Dyson saying "It took us in new directions things we would have never" thought of without it. If James Cameron did want to show the future could be changed he did a pretty shitty job at it. This time loop of inevidibility is possibly my favorite aspect of the series.

if that's not a bad change then i dont know what is...
theres no way of trying to justify this..
(Removed images)
That isn't a change.

The second image is from ESB, and Lucas didn't give Obi-wan such a strong bluish tint in it. I know exactly what scene that image is from. Obi-wan is saying "Don't give into hate. That path leads to the dark side." He's so bright because its when Luke is lifting off the planet.

Thank you again. I remember him always looking less blue in that scene. It looks even better as the result of the remastering.

His make up job and blank expression kill that scene horribly. His face is expressionless and doesn't match the voice. "Yeeess, he would be a great asset." with his eyes staring off in the same direction.
The old Emporer in that scene at least looked like he was thinking. "Yesss... yes. He would be a great asset." His eyes reflect what he is supposed to be thinking.

I just don't like how it turned out. The new dialogue alone is enough for me to prefer the old version.

By saying that you are saying a chimpanzze acted better then Ian McDarmid. I thought he looked fin.

And as for Vader being obsessed with young Skywalker, then says "How is that possible?". Don't you get it, he's LYING? Is that impossible for a Sith of all people! I'm not mad at anyone, don't me wrong, but this is a thousand times better then that excuse of hack for an Emperor. What I saw just then was the real and true Emperor. I think to me, this will go down as one of my favorite changes, right with Ben and Vader's lightsabers, fixed snowspeeders, and fixed Rancor.

As a sidenote, please don't think I don't respect your opinion, I'm just having a hard time understanding it. And yes, I did sign the petion, etc.... but I just don't get it. Call me Lucas butt kisser all you might want to, but I like it very much. That's my two cents.

Thank you. I totally agree this is a very good change. The change to the wampa is still my favorite Special Edition change. Changes like Haydens head or Greedo shooting first are one thing I can understand. I too can't phathom why anyone would want to watch emty cities, hidden monsters, fuzzy lightsabers, matt lines, dewbacks that don't move, blobs under land speeder, or an old women Emperor with chimpanzze (not monkey) eyes.

That sounds very cool. A very good change. Can you verify it?

@Klingon_Jedi: I may provide a screenie of the emperor's death, as well as the fleet (although you obviously won't see it moving).

While I don't like changing Bobas voice I do like improving the sound of his ship. It sounds like a good change.

What about Terminator 2s title. Why the hell is it called Terminator 2 Judgement Day if Judgement Day happens in Terminator 3? Who titles these things.

lol

i read that about the cartoons but im still gonna buy them... i figure if George is giving us something the way it was originally done... we might as well take advantage of that....

Thats pretty much what I figured. Not an Ewok fan. I think the ewoks were a real down turn of Return of the Jedi.

I am not allowed to provide a link but I have seen the new Emperor hologram scene. I think the new scene is much better then before. It successful keeps the Emperor a mysterious character without making his character a chimp eyed women. The new dialog is a bit more reveling and in my opinion better then before. Also I am amazed at how clean it looks.

I will always remember The Girl Next Door
Time
Have watched the commentary and would like to put a list of all the differences in this version

1. On Elis television screen we see more porn views

2. Added shot of Kelly pushing a kid

3. Added bit of Kelly threatening Mats life

4. Mats loose of virginity is a bit more intimate (again still no nudity from Elisha)

None of these additions really do anything to improve this movie. I also don't like Fox's brown ring clearly designed to make you think Elisha is nude in this version. The movie has received a bit of critisim for this. People are dissipointed that we only get nudity from a few less attractive women. I don't think this should to much effect your opinion of this movie. Here face is sexy enough to stare at for hours. What it lacks in Elishas hooters it makes up for with hilarious comedy, one of the smartest and most heart felt scripts, and characters you can care about. If you still haven't seen it please give it a rent. You will probably after one view find you have to own this movie.

I have never seen these movies or cartoons. Can someone who has seen them describe them to me. I will be renting these before buying them. Clone Wars is the only non movie Star Wars project that really looks excellent and turned out to be even better. Its a shame that we have to wait until March for that DVD. More unfortunite news on this release is that they will be in 1.0 mono and there will be no extras. I really hope Clone Wars receives better treatment.
