Did you figure out how to solve the audio "problem" yet?
Since the reels lack english audio.

Ya, the film fading seems pretty bad on the red reel because it's well...really red. But the picture's I've seen of the less faded on looks great.

Yes, that is in fact the video I was talking about. (I figured this particular issue would be more at home in this thread.)

Ya the scratches and such don't bug me so much, it's really the lines that persist that kinda bug me.

Now if it's anywhere else in the film that's probably alright, but I feel the intro deserves a little extra attention since it's the starting point. (and it happens to be easier to clean than most of the movie)

Ya but in this particular case it's just a little white line going over a black backround, so resolution wouldn't matter THAT much in this particular case.

I just looked at the title crawl and I did notice a "line" running trough the frame at times.
Now normally I wouldn't mention it cause it's a hard to fix problem, but in this case I think it's an easy fix.

Basicly you take a frame where the line isn't present, and you use that to fill in the lines (it'll stil go over the letters a little bit, but it'll be much less noticable.)

Thoughts?

So without reading every post in detail, it seems Goldeneye had the framing fixed? (at a "cost" of more tweaking?)

In that case I might just buy it, I really like Goldeneye.

But...the originals came first. Shouldn't the new movies match the old ones not the other way around?

Also real sets somehow look more fake than cgi created imagery (not even recent or anyting, but from like 1999-2005 (thats when the last one came out right? Dates arent my strong point)

I can't remember if I actually did sign it tbh. If I didn't can I check? It would suck to have two signatures of the same person on there.

Well my problem with it is that you have to buy your movies AGAIN.
I suppose at least upscaling is LESS of a problem, since 1080 scales 1:2 with 4k.

Do we really need 4k at home? I mean it's not like it's giant screens like in the movie theather. (unless you're really rich) Is the extra detail really noticable on a home sized projection screen?

Note: I don't have much experience with 4K video, so I really have no clue how much better it looks compared to 1080p/2k

So I showed some friends. Got alot of "why not just upload the video directly?"

But but...even IF something is only avaible in sd...that doesn't automatically make it bad. Image quality only ENHANCES the experience, not neccesairly create it. (there are instances where I'd call good quality for a movie essential to the movie)

I just checked harmy's version (easiest blu ray source I have on hand)
He is indeed rather matte, not as matte as your recording though, but i'll attribute that to the capture method.

Basicly it's the special edition which features amongst other things, cgi E.T.

Kinda funny how for star wars we have to fight for the originals, and now people want the special edition of a movie that now only has the original version out.

I did notice that darth vader seems very matte black. Why would the print have him be so matte? Is it because you recorded it with a camera?

From what I gather (I don't have the blu ray yet), the snake reflection has indeed been removed.

Altough I will say that falls under "reasonable" in my book. (it'd be silly if they had to make two releases and people would bitch if they left something like that in, considering it can seriously pull you out of the moment)

edit: that is from again what I gather the only cgi change though. If you don't count color timing.

From what I recall of that interview Spielberg mostly said he wouldn't be making changes in the context of what he did with ET and such. People seemed to have taken it very literally.

Last one refuses to load for some reason, will check out later.

Rest looks great though. Also the audio sounds pretty decent for being recorded off a camera.
