i looked though twitter i just want the films to look better just like what adywan's doing to the original trilogy. i want back to the future to be given the 5 star treatment you know. i just love the classics like ghostbusters and too a lesser extant ghostbusters 2 that's why i want someone to color correct those two films as well. i think more people should go the extra mile and find or ask people who have the 35mm etc. prints to help make some of the films that don't look so good on blu ray better than the garbage blu rays.

This auction ended four years ago but wonder if there are 16mm versions floating around

http://www.ebay.com/itm/16mm-Film-85-BACK-FUTURE-Complete-Trilogy-/310285951059?hash=item483e7be053&pt=US_Film

Damn, it went for $2,600 and it was only 16mm... hate to see the price on a 35mm print.

i did find someone who has the third movie's 35mm print i asked if he has one and two's and if he could help.

Great, that would be amazing if he would help out with it. Did you find him on this site or somewhere else?

twitter he said he was willing to help he only has back to the future 3 but that's better than nothing

is there anyone willing donate the 35mm prints of all 3 movies to this project for who ever wants to work on this project?

Yeah sure, someone is going to give us 24 reels of 35mm film for free just for preservation purpose.

I'm pretty sure that I did mention these prints were rare and expensive.

can't something be worked out so someone could use them for this project?

Universal will be forced to remaster in 4K when the eventual 4K home format comes around. Until then, there's not really any incentive because the existing master resolves fine.

These films are just crying out for a 35mm scan project.

i wonder if anyone has the film prints and can do a real remaster of them? if so i hope some steps up and does it and maybe leaks it online

They don't give a damn. They will sell a bunch of sets anyway. With just a couple of useless new special features and a fancy box. People will buy because most of people are idiots. Universal can make a huge profit with these and it will be even bigger if they don't remaster the films.

i know it's still doesn't make any less sad and lazy :(

The Sky does not have the same amount of Dnr the Bluray has although it has compression artifacts and slight filtering due to there poor encoders. Take a screenshot of both when the sparks are coming off the wheel of the Delorean and you will see alot are missing on the Bluray due to automated clean up. The Hdnet version is more filtered than the Sky from what I remember.

Ah so I saw DNR but its the same master that was then over DNR'd for the BD.

DO you have the file names by chance? I am only finding the HDnet over and over

As far as I remember it could be Sky's own filtering due to there encoder rather than DNR on the HDTV master.

I get what you mean, it's a shame a DCP will never be made for the sequels.

Mind you we are beyond lucky this was unlocked in the first place.

Hoping at least Wowow decide to show them and someone caps them when they do or Universal decide to eventually do 4k remasters (highly unlikely in the near future).

and they treat it with little fan fair which sucks considering it's a big year it's the 30th anniversary and also the year marty, doc, and jennifer traveled to

Before the DCP came along the Wowow version of Back to the Future was the best but obviously had subtitles. The guy that did the original encode of the DCP prior to this originally used the Wowow and meticulously removed the subtitles using the Harold Nipps method (spoRv, I,ll send you information about this method later if I can find it), it must of taken him days as you could not see any instance of the subtitles is was that good, the best I've seen.

The DCP is the same master that was used for the Wowow broadcast minus all the compression artifacts that come with television encoders and is the best available until a 4K master comes along.

Now that should put that debate to bed once and for all. Same questions over and over asking the same thing that has already been discussed prior.

Canal+ with logo (15 Mbps) of 2 is the best followed by Sky Hd (average 10 Mbps).

That puts that to bed.

Sky Anytime Hd of 3 (average 13 Mbps) is the best followed by HdNet (18 Mbps).

That puts that to bed.

I have Sky and I thought 3 when I saw it looked like the BD, I have the HDnet versions of 2+3 and am looking for more

but without the dnr and ee right?

i'm not 10 and even though i've been on the forums awhile guess i'm not too well at using the forums. so what i get from what you saying is wait a day or two or three if that's the case then i think i finally understand ok. i just didn't know how forums work. i guess i might have maybe been thinking of it like instant messaging. the only reason i ask questions like this is one i liked what i saw of the fan edits and two i liked the color correction of a lot of the classic films and three i like knowing there better versions of films i really like that i didn't know existed like this version of back to the future and back to the future 2 and 3. on a side note as bad as this movie was i loved it when it came out when i was a kid looking back it was pretty bad the super mario bros movie which is now on blu ray in the uk.

Apparently, there is no DCP rip of BTTF 2 & 3 out there. There is a good HDTV version that can be found for Part II. It's the Canal+ version with its logo removed.

The original Canal+ version without the logo removed slowed down and with synced Bluray sound is the best at present followed by the Sky Anytime HD. The one with the logo removed isn't done very well and you can still see where the logo was in numerous scenes and due to the encode it has lost some of its luster.

BTTF 3, the best at present is the Sky Anytime HD, there is no Canal+ capture available of that one.

Likewise, there are no Japanese Wowow captures or DCP's available of either which is a shame as either one would be the best.

one where would one try to get these versions and two is there a color correction of them or if not is there someone willing to do it and willing add the theatrical audio as well. please answer all.

 Stop it.

You said you wanted to know why people 'don't like' you. You replied immediately after your own message with an impatient and annoying comment. With absolutely no offense intended: I realize that you probably have a condition of some sort or are very young, so I am trying to refrain from any further sarcastic comments directed at you. But please think about how your posts sound before submitting them.

sorry didn't mean to be impatient i just thought i was being ignored again i'm sorry

Why would you think it an appropriate response to being ignored? Every time you do this stuff (which is every post you make), you're told either politely or rudely that your behavior is problematic. Why not make the tiniest effort to improve your behavior?

how long am i supposed to wait for a response for something on the forums then?

so these versions of 2 and 3 are the best is there anyway someone could do some tweaking color correction etc. and make it look pretty much perfect.

Sorry about that! To be honest I hadn't noticed before reading this thread either. I'll take that as a yes for changing the wheel colours in those shots.

I hadn't notice it either. But, if someone wants to be pedantic, it's not just the wheels. It affects the whole picture.

I imagine that if I selectively change the colours of the wheels in those shots, it'll quite likely fix other parts of the frame that have had a similar shift in colour. I'll experiment and see what can be done.

so your edit is going to be a complete color correction then?
