Sorry but I think this is an extremely terrible explanation. I would rather take the explanation of empire simply gaining upper hand in 30 years. At least it is not as silly.
Besides, that has nothing to do with my point. My point is that good guys being weaker again is a boring rehash element. No in-story explanation/excuse can change that technical fact.

Why is there a Resistance? The Republic is in power. Shouldn’t it just be the Republic’s forces against The First Order? It seems like a lazy way of redoing The Rebels Vs the Empire.
TFA has so many bad things and rehash elements, but this one is one of the worst.
Well it is pointless to make any such arguments in the first place. This may sound condescending but someone who merely likes the Hayden change (let alone tries to justify it) is not worth my time.

At this point I would even go see the 1997 SE, because all the real stupid shit didn’t go down until the 2004 release, that was the first time the theatricals and the SEs weren’t on an even playing field quality wise.
You’re not the first person to say something along these lines but I must say I just don’t get it.
All of the really stupid shit was there from the start (Jabba, Greedo [both of which got better in later versions], ronto and other Mos Eisley shenanigans, Luke screaming [removed later] ESB star destroyer bs, Jedi effing Rocks, sarlacc, etc.).
All 2004 added was new Emperor, new Boba, and new Hayden. Buuuut who really cares about new Emperor (some might call it an improvement), new Boba is pretty much the same as old Boba (I know I’ll get shit for this but it’s true), and Hayden is weird and doesn’t make sense but Shaw never made sense either.
People hate 2004 because it adds PT elements and everyone hates the PT. Buuuut they’re really nothing compared to the stain that the original SE left.
All the bad changes in 1997 combined (there are not that many that are bad anyway) cannot match Hayden insertion in terms of badness.

Which is still being updated! There’s a huge ongoing story arc that they set in motion recently and it’s pretty epic in scope.

I did have a short look at the Knights of the Fallen Empire trailer when it first came out (at that time I already stopped playing the game) but I didn’t quite like the direction/story. I preferred the classic Empire/Sith vs Republic/Jedi setting of the original game content. To be honest, I didn’t like any of the expansions, expect for Galactic Starfighter.

I actually prefer 3rd-person type. After all, all the best were more or less 3rd-person (KOTOR, SWTOR, JK2, JKA, etc.). I just can’t stand LEGO kind of stuff, even though it is kinda story-focused.

Judging from your accusation, when you say some film/music is bad/shit, do you automatically imply people who watch/listen it are bad/shit? Just because you might have such mindset, don’t assume others have it too.

Read my reply to his post again. Short summary: his point was wrong as I implied nothing beyond what I actually said. He basically insinuated that I insinuated something that I actually didn’t.
Besides, there is nothing wrong with enjoying primitive things. Even if you are the smartest person on the planet you can still enjoy primitive things. Not to mention “primitive” was merely my opinion in that case.

If that was only the case with him. More often than not he’s wrong or isn’t making a strong argument when defending his viewpoints and even when he is in the right he acts like a pompous ass anyway. That’s why this thread exists.
Just because you regularity attack people for their viewpoints/opinions (regarding TFA) it does not mean one is supposed to defend them against the likes of you. A viewpoint/opinion is a personal preference.

In general, prequel to any film is inherently doomed to fail as it competes with an imagination of every person that saw the original film.
The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly and The Godfather 2 say hi.
The Dollars Trilogy seems so unrelated to each other that you cannot even consider them sequel/prequel with respect to each other.
