Being fat is unhealthy. You can live a long time in spite of that, but it’s unhealthy. Smoking cigarettes is unhealthy too. I wasn’t aware that this was a controversial thing to say.

If you are disease-free and your body can perform daily activities normally you are healthy, weather you are fat or skinny, smoke or not.

Seriously how could anyone think that problems make a situation less interesting? That’s like saying a movie was less interesting because things happened in it.

I said that all the problems make it at least slightly interesting, as opposed to being extremely boring when there aren’t any problems.

So there’s a technical aspect to architecture, just like there’s a technical aspect to acting, just not as big.

So what aspect of acting is technical and most importantly what is the objective measure for that aspect?

You should ask an acting teacher for this.

You have misjudged my question. I wasn’t asking because I wouldn’t know about it. I was just trying to make you back up your claims since you argued so confidently.

I am not that arrogant to think I know…

Well funny because just a post ago you were exactly that.

If there’s no way to objectively rate an actors performance, why are there acting schools? Why are there film schools?

Just because you can teach someone to do something that doesn’t automatically mean that you can also objectively evaluate whatever he/she does in the end. I can teach you how to make a pizza, despite not having an objective measure to evaluate the pizza quality.

Acting and film schools don’t give out grades or diplomas? Interesting.

They do but that doesn’t mean it was evaluated based on an objective measure. It just means it was a subjective evaluation.

I get it now. Everyone is an expert on everything and all opinions are equally valid. So my opinion on how to build a bridge is just as important as the opinion of a professional architect, even if my design would collapse, but hey, in my opinion a bridge doesn’t need to be stable, it’s all subjective.

Unfortunately you don’t get it. Even if it is an subjective evaluation (because for a certain thing there is no objective measure) it doesn’t mean all subjective evaluations should have the same weight.

And your example is very bad. Design and statics are two different things. Former is completely subjective, while the latter has objective measures.
