I would disagree that Tarkin shows any anger in ANH. Unlike Vader, who is pretty much calm throughout OT, Tarkin does raise his vice here and there. However, I would not call it anger. He seems to be on top of things all the time. He does seem to be annoyed sometimes though, e.g. “she lied to us!”.

Yes, I agree, it’s more annoyment than anger; however, I find a big difference between the range of emotions his human self expresses in ANH and what they have him be in RO.

What I was trying to emphasize is that this being a problem that has to do with the way the lines sound/are delivered as well, it can’t be charged on the CGI but on the very way the character is written, or acted, or directed.

EDIT: There is only one moment I remember from RO when he does something more natural, which is a gesture with his face while saying “rebellion” (if I remember right), a sort of “that will do” assertion.

It is difficult to compare to Cushing’s acting. However, I found the whole thing good enough and I am quite happy with it. I think the film would be weaker without Tarkin.

I do dislike Aliens, though.

Sad!

Aliens is great but the last half hour is awful.

I enjoy Aliens for what it is, but it’s barely a sequel to Alien. The “Assembly Cut” of Alien 3 (the Blu-ray version with its rerecorded dialog and fixed effects) is much closer in tone and quality to the first movie in my opinion.

I agree. One thing I dislike about Aliens is that it completely devalued the alien as a specie. In Alien it was highly intelligent and independent. In Aliens it is reduced to a scary bug.

I like Alien3 Assembly Cut.

Oh and btw, Leia says “When they hear you’ve attacked a diplomatic…” -> it is pretty clear the Empire attacked if you still think that Tantive IV shot first (maybe they can make a Special Edition about that) or that there would be a chance to welcome them aboard.

Well and my point is that Tantive IV did not need to shoot first in order to justify Empire’s action. The rebels probably refused to be stopped by the star destroyer (official authority). It is like running away when the cops try to stop your car. When they chase your car after that, you deserved it.

It depends: is R1 the prequel to ANH… or the sequel to ROTS ?

R1 is the prequel to ANH, because ROTS is not suppose to be watched at all.

First thing you’ve said I’ve agreed with…probably because it didn’t include some variant of “I’m the truth.”

I am one with the truth. The truth is with me.

If you don’t remember, the movie starts with Star Destroyer chasing and shooting Tantive IV and then captures it, so I’m sure anyone who is inside isn’t waiting for a welcome party at the door, were they rebels or not.

Well if they refused to be boarded it should be their fault for being chased and shot at. It is like trying to run away from cost guard when they try to inspect your boat.

me merely disagreeing with you would prompt you to go on this childish endeavor.

Sorry, I have completely lost you. Could you please explain these three points to me:

  1. How is asking a simple and logical question like “why not?”, in response to a comment about my ranking (i.e. “I did not see that coming”), being “pissed off”?

  2. How is wondering about 1. being “childish endeavour”?

  3. You disagreed with me on what exactly? I don’t see any expression of disagreement in your posts with regards to my ranking. I only see rather off-topic childish endeavour in your posts.

I saw R1 and I liked it a lot. It is of course not OT level but it is a very decent addition. A very pleasant surprise after a crap like TFA.

I really enjoyed seeing Tarkin. He is my favourite character in OT.

I loved the feel of imperial research facility on Eadu. The atmosphere felt like that in those imperial bases from JK2 video game.

I also liked the space battle.
