okay, here's my proposition http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ku6cInLKX8 based on haraldo23's idea earlier, and bob's cut.
Well, I was thinking about Obi Wan leaving completely. You know, there's no chopping or screaming. Anakin just stays on the platform and lets Obi Wan leave. And that's it. We're left clueless.
But this is also an interesting take on that scene. Kind of combines what everyone wants to see with what I'd like to see. XD
Anyway, there are probably (at least) 50 ways to cut that scene and I'm sure Bob knows best. He'll choose the right one.

I agree. When you run out of your room - with a it's-time-to-kick-ass-and-chew-bubble-gum-and-I'm-all-outta-gum face - your mind is all made up and you know exactly what you gonna/gotta do.
So I say Anakin should just ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VleXZos_3T8

Ok I've been looking around and I cant find the post were someone mentioned about they would love to see Anakin force push Mace out the window.
Tonight I started working on that. Keep in mind there has only been about a hour worth of work put into this quick clip. I just layed out a basic quick shot, to see if I could maybe make it work.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5I1QsQ2Nzv8
It's ugly I know, but give me some time and I'll make this look good. I'll add the closeup of anakins hand doing the force push and add the sound effect before I'm done. And of course Ill fix the background, and roto work.
I think this will look sweet once I give it alot of work.
Yes, just like you said, it needs more work, but I like the idea! And it even right now it looks pretty impressive. You're like some kind of wizard! This is great!
PADME: Obi-Wan told me terrible things... He said you have turned to the dark side . . . that you killed younglings...
Ok, I don't really like this part about younglings, but I have nothing against it as long as in Episode II Anakin doesn't tell Padme how he slayed everyone in that village. I admit that I borrowed this point/idea from that review I posted earlier, but it's true - why should she suddenly care about him killing the kids when in Episode II he explained her how he committed a genocide. She didn't care then, why should she care now?
EDIT: Ok, here's an idea, I will use this clip to explain it -
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=THBRvtxNPvE
I think we can all agree that everything that comes after "Your new Empire?" is bad. So it would be cool if the scene would play out like this -
- Anakin says "I've brought this and that to my new Empire". Have him say that last part about Empire in the background while Obi Wan is touching Padme (@ 3:05);
- Then, after Obi touches Padme, cut to the scene at 3:10 where Obi rises up and says "Your new Empire?";
- (Remove "Don't make me kill you!" & "Anakin, my allegiance is to Republic!") and right after Oby says "Your new Empire?" cut to back-shot of Anakin at 3:20;
- put Anakin on mute and remove "Then you're my enemy" part. And then cut to the shot where Obi ignites his lightsaber at 3:26 and remove his "I will do what I must".
Then let the scene play out the way you already cut it - whit Anakin ignitining his saber and them fighting. I'm not sure if this is even possible, but that's my take on that scene. Removing as much dialog as possible I think is the best way to go. Because they are both good actors and they say more with their body language.

I like the concept Haraldo. But considering how I couldnt change Anakins saber color without a ton of people saying that it needed to be shown, I have to say that your concept falls along the same lines...
I understand that. It does complicate things. But don't get me wrong, this is your edit and so far your ideas have been truly great, so you do what you gotta do and what you feel is best. I just wanted to have fun and toss this idea around.
bobgarcia74 said:
... With that being said. If you like your idea Haraldo, then your going to love what's planned for the edit.
Ok! Now I'm even more excited! XD That's cool how you keep some stuff secret. Makes this edit even more anticipated.
Bob, I seriously can't stop thinking about this idea. I REALLY WANT THIS IDEA COME TO LIFE. It's the best way to go IMHO. It respects both trilogies and has more of an impact, if you think about it.
I would really like to hear your thoughts on this. Seriously.
^Good idea, except that the audience would want to know what the heck happened to Anakin that put him in the suit.
You just don't show his transformation. Let him stay there and makes us guess what the hell happened.
That's why you have the Original Trilogy. If it's supposed to be like ONE movie, then it's ok to leave some sort of cliffhanger at the end of Part 3, don't you think?
I'm actually starting to notice some flaws in idea, starting with the fact - why wouldn't Anakin be at Padme's funiral? ...Either way, I want to know Bob's opinion first.
Wow, I'm surprised, I actually REALLY dig that idea! But I'd maybe remove the dialogue, and just have them stare at each other, maybe that would be more powerful, or it my just look strange that they just akwardly stare at each other.....
But it's not much a of a dialog anyways. Just Obi Wan expressing his disappointment.
Anyway, I can't stop thinking about this. I REALLY WANT THIS IDEA COME TO LIFE. It's the best way to go. It respects both trilogies and has more of an impact, if you think about it. You just saw two friends fighting each other. They couldn't beat one another, so they decided to settle this some other time. They didn't lose RESPECT for each other and I think that's important.
Just something I posted on Bob's thread. Maybe this idea can be used by other editors, too. Or inspire to do something similar -
OR you could just have Obi LEAVE! Imagine if Anakin lets Obi Wan LEAVE! The whole dialog they are having after Anakin get's shopped up - if you remove the chopping up part and let Anakin stay on the platform the whole time - imagine how awesome that would look!
They fight, they have their dialog, Anakin realizes he can't really beat Obi Wan and he lets him leave!
It would tie Episode III and Episode IV NICELY! Remember Vader says "When I left you, I was but the learner; now *I* am the master!"
Dude! My english sucks, but I really hope you understand what I'm saying here! And please consider doing this! Just consider! I know the whole burning and chopping thing looks pretty cool and it allows using the whole Vader transformation scene (which is also cool), but we could live without it and just imagine that Vader became robotic somehow in the time between EPIII and EPIV.
And, for example, those who will watch Star Wars for the first time - the whole "*I* am your father..." thing will remain a surprise! (That's of course if they don't know that Anakin eventually turns into Vader).
I've never heard an idea like this before, so I'm sorry if this has been mentioned.

Didn't George want to make art films again? Why doesn't he go off and spend his money on that instead of feeding us expensive 3D movies which will come out on expensive 3D Blu-rays which require expensive players, expensive TVs, and expensive glasses to wear. He won't even see money for the last three!
If he thinks 3D technology is up to his specifications already, why did it take him right up to the death of DVD to release his movies on it? 3D hasn't been popular for a year yet.
He should just re-release the OT, but in 2D and use the original version. Just re-release the same movie they showed in 1977. Man, I'd love to see that... the opening scene on the big screen... that would be fantastic!

I like it! Maybe have his eyes look down and up a bit, as if eying the distance between him and Obi-Wan.
That's actually an awesome idea! Not because it would show Anakin eying the distance (come on, the guy is basically Superman XD Why would he care about the distance?) but because it would show his inner struggle a little bit. Obi says "Don't try it!" and Anakain is, like, "Maybe I shouldn't... mmmm naaah... I'm fudgin pissed! Let's finish this!"
EDIT: OR!!! ( I just had an awesome idea!!! ) XD OR you could just have Obi LEAVE! Imagine if Anakin lets Obi Wan LEAVE! I didn't see OT in theatres, because I was very, very... semen at that time.
Thanks for sharing!
:p
You sound kind of irritated, is that because of the word semen or because I didn't see Star Wars on the big screen? Cause if that's because of the last one then - what can I possibly do? I wasn't as lucky as you guys...
This is cool! Why? Well, I'll tell you why -
I didn't see OT in theatres, because I was very, very... semen at that time. And here's my chance to see it on the big screen! It's fantastic!
Yeah, they'll probably use the Special Edition with all the crap I hate, but it's not that big of a deal for me. I will use my imagination and remove the special additions in my mind. XD
And it sucks that they are releasing PT first, but the good thing is that - PT will be an experiment.
They just said they don't know how the fudge they will do a lot of the stuff, so they will have to figure it out and experiment on TPM. And when the time comes to convert the OT - they will know WHAT to do exactly. And also they will know what the fans loved/hated about the previous convertions.
I'm not a fan of 3D, I'm not a fan of Special Editions and I'm certainly not a fan of the prequel trilogy, but I'm pretty excited for this.
I don't see anything wrong with it. It looks great! Nice job!
Wow! This is great! I just learned something!

- Anakin not going into space and blowing the Federation ship. I feel this achievement was given way too much importance whereas the real focus should be the Duel.
This I disagree. Anakin should be the important one. He shouldn't put the ship on auto pilot, but kick ass in that space fight on his own. That would show us that that kid has some serious balls and an enormous potential. That should make us believe that he is good and willing to sacrifice himself in order to help others.
The Kenobi/Jin vs. Maul duel, as cool as it looks, is pure ass. Why is it important? How is it more important than thousands of droids trying to invade a planet?
But I like the rest of your ideas.
Hey, Bob! You should check out this review (if you haven't seen it) -
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K6AW_ZS0grQ&feature=related
This is part 2 and starting from 2:15 that guy makes some interesting points about Obi riding that squeeking animal.
But you should watch the whole thing it's pretty darn hilarious.
I can't wait for the next Star Wars review from RedLetterMedia. They did an awesome job reviewing TPM and AOTC. Now it's time to review ROTS. And I can feel it's gonna be awesome. I hope there's gonna be some interesting idieas for Bob to incorporate in his edit.
Oh and also I'd like to bump up this review if anyone hasn't seen it. This is part 2 and I just can't stop laughing at the part starting from 2:16 (about that thing Obi is riding).
If the walls are to be gray, then this looks more fitting, actually.
Looks very good IMHO.

It looks great! Hard to believe you did this in such a short period of time.
As mentioned, colors do stand out a little bit when we cut-away from that thing. All of a sudden everything is gray again. So maybe it's possible to make that thing a little bit darker and make it glow. And then put some reflection on the bridge, so when we cut away form it - we can still feel that it's there.
I understand it might be hard to do it in motion, so a little mock-up would be great!
EDIT: Ok, I tried to come up with a mock-up and I discovered that I'm not very good at this XD
So about those colours - it's great what Adywan did but maybe they shoudn't be gray, maybe they should be a little more interesting. And take a look at those lights next to doors - shouldn't they be red also (I tried to color them, but stopped midway through)?
And here's what I meant about that reflection -
I see. Happy to hear everything's on track.
My main goal here is to try and show that this stuff can be done in motion.
That's actually pretty cool. After doubleofive's post -

Not to burst anyone's bubble, but people do realize that if it takes someone a couple of hours to do something to a frame of this movie that it would take 41 YEARS of man hours do, plus time to make sure it looked good in motion.

Actually... red does look pretty darn impressive. But so does blue... Damn it!
Hey, Bob! What's up with your ROTS edit? You decided to take brake? It's cool if you did, I'm just asking.

It might be nice to give these huge internal caverns a more cathedral like lighting effect (rough mockup follows) :
While we are on the subject where are the foreground objects in the bottom shot supposed to be in the top shot?
This is also an interesting idea. Also it would be cool to see something happening behind those walls -
LOL. Yeah... It looks like Luke went over to Tosche Station and picked up some Spray Tan. XD But that's not main thing here. DS looks cool.
I like how you put red in there. The whole place looks more menacing.
