Finally getting around to watching Ashes to Ashes. I loved Life on Mars and wasn't sure about this at first, but now that I am a ways into it (just started series two) I am enjoying it for what it is.

After spending the first portion of this year working my way through Doctor Who and Torchwood, it is surprisingly refreshing to be watching a show that was made for adults (and not in a juvenile bi-sexual obsessed Russell T. Davis kind of way).

Doctor Who is meant to be family viewing  but I dig.

LOM, A2A and to some degree Being Human were blessed relief from the RTD 'They Call It Sci-Fi So Who Cares?' school of fantasy flavoured telly.

Agreed. I thought Torchwood was pretty immature. Although Children of Earth was good.

I liked Life on Mars better than Ashes to Ashes.

I love the idea of that thread...alas, it's too late for me.

Ask for your account to be abandoned and make a new one...or ask for a name change, though I don't remember if that is possible or not.

I think at this point I'll stick with it. Thanks for the info though.

I for one rather like your name. Though when you first showed up my first thoughts were oh great, here comes a PT gusher. The thought that you might be some past troll's sock crossed my mind as well. You turned out to be a pleasant surprise and a lot of fun though.

Thanks. I try to be fun. That's us OOT fans these days; if we stop laughing, we'll start crying.

I'll never stop laughing.

Just started watching Case Histories starring Jason Isaacs.

I'm not usually into the television detective thing and I'm glad to say it exists on the fringe of the genre.

It's more a collection of linking character stories with Mr Isaacs' Jackson Brodie (silly name) being the linking material.

No complaints there as he is very easy on the eye and he plays the central role with measured restraint and seems quite comfortable to allow all the orbiting characters and the strong talent playing them to gently revolve around him (even when the story-lines are grim).

I can't bring myself to follow either the excellent Swedish or the almost as good British Wallander series because the whole thing is so relentlessly grim from stalk to core that all that hard work laying down the characterisation just gets lost in depressing darkness of it (for me) but this one is balanced just about right for me at my time of life.

Nice to see Edinburgh on screen too and I've always had a soft spot for Yorkshiremen (fictional in this case, or real).

This.

I've been liking 'Case histories' too.
