DVD players?
Time
My BIG vote is for the one I use (duh! ) which is a Daewoo 9200N. These are available at most Target stores for about $45. You can get them at several other online retailers as well, just watch out for inflated eBay prices as people sell them as 'all-region' players for higher than you can find in stores.

You can find out which DVD players can me made all-region, do PAL/NTSC internally, etc. here:

http://www.videohelp.com/dvdhacks

Another thing I like about the Daewoo above is that its one of the few cheap players that does progressive scan PAL/NTSC.

Details about the player here:

For those who are d/loading from the usenet, let me know how it goes.

For those who should have already received a copy, please email and let me know you did- or just post your comments here, be they good OR bad.

For those who still need it, let me know- I can't promise everyone every time, but I'll hit ya as soon as I can.

Thanks- GC

Just so long as you NEVER, EVER get that notion to my wife! She must never suspect that I don't need as much space as I take up!

greencapt, you should have used a program that posts in yenc it cuts down on the size of the articles that you post to news groups. Smaller size makes the news groups faster to load and what not.
But still thanks for uploading it to a.b.dvd

D'oh! Actually I thought I was uploading in yEnc! Danggit!! I must not checked the box. Sorry bout that. Grrr....

Well, when you put it like that...

There are few parts that still need to be uploaded, but I needed my laptop at work today (imagine that!). The final ones should resume shortly.

I guess *some* casual viewer *somewhere* might just want the one-disc. This never makes much sense to me though because of the cost the studios pay creating these discs. Silly silly silly.

Sadly too I prefer the art on the single disc edition, though both are pretty cool and honestly all I'll see is the spine on the shelf.

Once that disc arrives I'll be sure to PM you about getting you a copy.

Just a file??? NO- You get the entire six disc set all with the bells and whistles: the 10 lithographs, the autographed script, the solid gold poster reproduction, the.....

wait- what were we talking about again?

(yes, you get the cover! )

Are you still up for sending me a disc? I gave you my address via PM, right? Please let me know.

Hey klok-

Yes, I'll be mailing your disc this Weds. Sorry it didn't go out with the first batch! My bad.

buddy, when Xnews loads the headers for messages in big groups, like a.b.dvd, it can burn a bit of memory. There are several filters available that cut down on this- right click over the group name, select 'open special', click the 'filter' button and then you can load in different ways (last X amount of days, only from poster X, file name contains, etc)

I'll give you 10 bucks, you mail me a forkin disk and I'll worship the ground you walk.
Like Jett, I too walked out on the movie in '97. I am as big of a Batgeek as he is, I just don't have the site. email me privately for an address to mail to.

LOL.... the ground here is pretty cluttered, no need for any worship- just go to your account settings here and turn on your PMs.

I respect the pirate thing. Nothing wrong with plundering a little booty now and then, ARRRRGGGHHHH!

I'm not a big Microsoft fan as a rule, but basically I just don't have any experience with Outlook. Xnews is a seriously no-fuss, no-muss program that makes decoding and saving of binaries files very very easy, especially when you're just learning the system.

Did you hear the one about the pirate movie? It was rated...Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

Hey Greencapt,
Is capt short for Captain? I've got my newsgroup access working now, found your file, but everything is in Jibberish. Why is this. I am new at the newsgroup thing. HEP ME!

LOL. Deep breathe, buddy...

Yes, capt is short for 'Captain'. Its a pirate thing.

The files are *supposed* to be gibberish- the original film was, wasn't it???

Just kidding- What program are you 'reading' the newgroups with? You'll need to decode the files using your newsreader, usually done after tagging the files. I learned the newsgroups on a simple and stable program called Xnews. You can learn all about using it, and download it as well, here:

Slyck's guide to Xnews

Hope this helps. If you can it let me know and we'll find another way.
