Nothing meant to offend guys, as anyone who knows me from here would know- its just my state of mind right now. And I far from want Lucas to die- that would be petty and assinine. On the other hand I'm sure he would like us to STFU and his and his company's actions prove this.

I can edit my post but not delete the thread. If Jay (or any mod) would like to then its ok by me.

So stop asking for him to make DVD's that way. Yes, you can make the dvd support all of a DVD players options but that doesn't make it any truer to the original movie. That is the main reason to buy the release.

Just let Criterion, Anchor Bay or even goddam Goodtimes Video license out the release. No money out of LFL's pocket AT ALL. Let someone ELSE pay for the restoration, manufacture and distribution. IT WOULD COST NOTHING AND THE RESIDUALS TO LFL WOULD BE HUGE.

But no- that would be giving people what they want. And what kind of artist does that? Not the one at Skywalker Ranch, that's for sure.

Personally I would PREFER if LFL decided to say "you know what, we realize that next year IS the 30th anniversary of SW so we decided just to wait another year and DO IT RIGHT instead of rushing out an inferior product."

There is NO ONE here, I'd wager, who wouldn't be willing to wait until May 2005 for a decently mastered OOT on DVD even if there were no extras, etc.

And on the ice cream analogy I'll take what theredbaron said one step further. Imagine the kid or adult finally got to the ice cream shop, paid their money, and the owner of the shop THREW THE GODDAMN ICE CREAM CONE ACROSS THE COUNTER AND SAID "HERE'S YOUR F**KIN' ICE CREAM YOU BABY- ARE YOU HAPPY? HUNH ARE YOU? NOW GET THE BLOODY HELL OUT OF MY SHOP AND THANKS FOR GIVING ME YOUR MONEY!"

Then again in Shim logic I imagine the owner would have been doing the patron a FAVOR by helping them make the decision whether to buy ice cream there or not in the future.

I'll complain more later about some of the apparent creative decisions that will be ruining this film for me but...

What really amuses me is that you have Lois Lane, established reporter etc, etc, played by an actress who IS 23, looks 20 or so and is supposed to have a 5 YEAR OLD CHILD.

"Hi Clark! Welcome back! Remember a few years ago when I was 18 and you and I had been working at the Planet since we were 11? Remember that after our high school graduation we got it on but you told me that you 'had it taken care of'....?"

*sigh*

ALL I wanted from this film was for some filmmaker to look at, oh say, THE BLOODY COMICS that have been put out over the last 20 years and make some all new creative choices based on those! Hay-zoos-H-freakin-christmas that's all they had tlo do. Don't try to remake a admittedly classic film. That was Donner's vision which given the state of Superman at that time was a great (in my opinion) vision. But this new film should not be BASED on that film!

As discussed elsewhere we, the fans, will probably never get a true honest accounting of the making-of process of the OOT from anyone involved... as least so long as they are under the wings of Fox and LFL. But what if.... just maybe... someone 'in the know' could get as many as possible of the players and creators together and record AUDIO CDs of commentary tracks to be played in sync with the movies. These wouldn't have to be released as a 'Star Wars' project at all and shouldn't be in violation of any copyright laws. Hell you could probably call it the 'SW Original Trilogy Commentary Series' as get away with it and noone would have much room for objection.

What gave me this idea was the way the 'South Park' creators released their season one audio commentary- Warner Bros pulled the pulled on the tracks Parker and Stone had recorded for season one so they decided (basically) to just say screw the WB and gave the tracks away as a CD set when you bought the season one DVDs... or made it available for sale on its own.

Imagine- unfiltered Ben Burtt, Ralph McQuarrie, John Dykstra, Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, etc, etc, etc telling their on-set stories and telling what they *really* feel about the films especially considering all that has happened in the past 10 years.

A boy can dream, right?
