"The People Vs. George Lucas" documentary...
Time

Finally got a chance to watch this and enjoyed it. The director did a nice job of conveying the arc of Lucas' progression as a filmmaking force and capitalist. I agree with others that at the end there was a sudden change of tone, but that's better than ending on a "F U GEORGE" type of note.

I definitely liked hearing from Prowse and Kurtz, and Gaiman was a nice touch as well. All the interviews were very entertaining and thoughtful.

Lucas as a director reminds me of Anakin's "I will keep people from dying" line.

The shoot for SW was quite troublesome with financial burdens, desert storms wrecking sets, last-minute editing, etc. I appreciate what Lucas went through personally to see that movie completed. Yet, it's as though that experience gave him a deep resolve to never go through a similar process again.

"I will keep people from dealing with movie sets, actors, and other 'cumbersome' filmmaking processes. I will make it all digital!"

Has anyone else noticed how prevalent the "slow zoom" is in the prequels? I think it's the only shot in Lucas' repertoire as a director, other than the over-the-shoulder seated dialogue.

A few examples:

- Qui-Gon at dinner table

- Obi-Wan and Jango talking

- Padme on ground unconscious on Mustafar

There are probably hundreds of shots like this where the camera slowly zooms in on something. Maybe I'm just a hater and don't understand Lucas' brilliance as a director.

Can't deny that Maul was the best Sith ever...In the movies that is.

I liked the part when Maul stood there for about 5 seconds while Obi-Wan leaped over him, grabbed a lightsaber, turned it on, and swung it into his stomach.

Really showed off those Sith instincts...

His overconfidence was his weakness!

You sure it wasn't his faith in his friends?

Feeling very down about the current state of Star Wars

SW fans wouldn't be seen as immature, whiny fanboys f they didn't use the "rape" exaggeration.

Within the realm of film enjoyment, the SW community has a reason to be disgusted with Lucas and his tampering, greed, and dishonesty. Why people talk about rape, I'm not sure. They are correlating the treatment of movies to a very serious, disgusting, awful act. I understand the frustration but don't agree with the expression of that frustration.

However, most SW fans seem to be rational and don't view this as anything outside of the film scope. The vocal minority can often stand out most, though.

My life is not affected by SW anymore. I cherish the UOT memories and am glad to have it in various forms (VHS, dvd, laserdis, fan preservations, etc.). I'm as disappointed as anyone in Lucas, but I gave up on him a long time ago and have held the lowest expectations since.

If we ever really get the UOT restored, great. If not, that's fine.

Please, stop the rape talk.

Lucasfilm: 3D RELEASES MAY NOT HAPPEN AFTER ALL
Time

So the poster prominently features Darth Maul, and at the same time his resurrection has been announced in the cartoon.

Is it me or are Lucas' marketing tactics as transparent as the snowspeeders in the Battle of Hoth?

I'm not surprised people are falling for the "we might just do TPM, depending on ticket sales." I acknowledge it's possible that not all movies are released, but I think it's just another psychological tool to motivate people to see TPM so that the rest can be released.

People are saying they want to just see TPM and that'll be it. If AOTC and ROTS come out I foresee people seeing those too, just like many who swore off the blu-ray and the additional changes bought the discs anyways.
