MINOR SKYFALL SPOILERS AHEAD

I'm not sure what I think of Skyfall. I like what the movie tried to do, bringing the story a bit closer from all the "bad guy wants to blow up stuff" in other films. But the middle of the movie felt like going through the motions.

Okay, we have to go to a few exotic locations.

Okay, we have to see Bond and a sexy dame talk at a bar.

Okay, we have to think the villain was caught when that was part of his plan the entire time (this is probably the most overused tripe in film today).

The third act saved the movie. Otherwise I would have put it below Quantum of Solace. Silva was an interesting villain, but we barely go to know him, and his motivations felt a little underdeveloped/rushed.

I'm a little biased, though. I'm not a huge Bond fan. I never found the character interesting, but Casino Royale was such a fantastic revelation and reinvention. Skyfall was an enjoyable, but I'm surprised people are liking it more than CR.

Oh, and was it necessary to include Wolf Blitzer in a news scene? That kind of garbage takes me out of a movie. I don't need to see Wolf Blitzer's face to realize that it's a news broadcast on the television in that scene. That's another lame Hollywood trend - "If we put an actual news figure in that scene, people will think it's more real!"

Gah.

The Sequel Trilogy should be made as animated films...

they tried that with the prequels and look how crap they turned out.

The less animated/ video game look in the new movies, the better.

Just imagine if they did matte paintings for backgrounds. How beautiful would it be?

I don't want to sound like an anti-modern purist, but I'd love if the new movies were approached with an older style of filmmaking. CGI will be a part of it, but less reliance on that. I always love how Peter Jackson took LOTR and filmed as much on location as he could. Really gave a real, tangible element to the settings and atmosphere.

Watching the prequels, all I could see in especially AOTC and ROTS was that the backgrounds were too shiny, too perfect, and had inconsistent lighting.

That's one area I think where TPM had an advantage - I think they filmed much more of that film in real settings than they did for AOTC and ROTS, which feel almost exclusively like bluescreen stages.

If you need to B*tch about something... this is the place
Time

If I say something, it won't stick, and I'll appear to be the crazy OCD guy who needs to "chill out, man." This is what people do in these situations - refuse to take accountability/responsibility, and project their own faults onto others with passive aggressive nonsense. I hate these games people play. I've grown wiser to know it's a bad idea to show frustration to people who aren't going to be considerate of it. They'll just do what they can to piss you off further.

As a male, I hate males. There's something about guys where they take pride in being slobs. "I'm a guy, cleaning isn't my job." Females aren't less disgusting, but in my experience they're aware enough of their surroundings. Guys just don't care. Just like tyrphanax's roommate who shoots snot rockets - who the hell does that? It's psychotic. People are inconsiderate assholes.
