Jar Jar's Bombad Adventure: A Star Wars Tale
Jar Jar's Bombad Adventure: A Star Wars Tale
^ Great! When do we get the special edition?
He would have been great. I think Hunnam is one of the best actors working today. He's fantastic in Sons of Anarchy.
Then again, being in AOTC could have ruined any chance of having the career he has today. He's probably glad he didn't get the part.
Find the file "system32" in your Windows directory.
1. Right click said file.
2. Click on "delete".
The porn will start flowing!
I thought it was hilarious when during the HD-DVD / Blu-Ray "war", people were saying, "Which format will porn choose?" Those people completely neglected two things:
1. Porn choosing VHS in the 80s mattered because you couldn't stream porn with two clicks of a button on your computer.
2. Because of said ease of availability of porn on the web, only morons buy porn in the present day.
I'm so used to this forum that I forgot how many other people on the internet basically feel the opposite as I do about the SW franchise and Lucas' development over the years.
Note to self. Don't talk about SW with other people.
I watched the Keanu Reeves-produced and narrated documentary Side By Side last night. It was fantastic. Plenty of interviews with directors, cinematographers, and other industry figures on the merits of digital vs film, and where the future lies. Compelling arguments by both sides.
You can imagine who one of the biggest proponents of digital was (rhyme with Ducas). And he had good points, about being able to review footage immediately instead of waiting for dailies to find out something ruined the shot, not having to handle all the film strips, etc. On the flip side others contended that the emphasis on the image on set meant less attention to performances.
There was one very telling comment from James Cameron, who said something along the lines of: "After the success of Avatar, Alice in Wonderland, and How to Train Your Dragon, we showed there was a market for 3D." I found this to be interesting because he didn't really mention storytelling opportunities (or perhaps he did and it wasn't included). But it kind of went along with how many feel that things like 3D are just empty marketing gimmicks.
I think it's great that some directors can choose to use film and others can use digital. Soderbergh talked about how during filming Che, they didn't have to carry so much heavy film equipment through the hot, dense jungles. Just their hand helds and a few other things.
The documentary seemed to be making a small plea to not let film die completely. I'm not sure what's projected for the future, but I hope both forms of filmmaking can coexist.
Highly recommended. I think many people on here would enjoy it.

The film is set in 4 ABY, one year after the Empire's occupation of Cloud City, when Luke Skywalker and friends travel to Tatooine to rescue their friend Han Solo from the vile Jabba the Hutt.
I win. That's for a guy that ate SW trivia up in the 90s but hasn't thought much of it since.
I recall it having been about a year.
I think in the first exchange Yoda is referring to Luke's physical training.
In the second exchange he's talking about Luke's mental training, control of his emotions, etc.
VII: Han Dies
VIII: Leia Dies
IX: Luke Dies
Ep VII: Yogurt Returns
Ep VIII: Pizza the Hut's Revenge
EP IX: We Still Ain't Found Shit!
Zombie vs. Easter in almost every thread. Get yo popcorn!
10 - masterpiece
9 - excellent
8 - very good (great)
7 - good
6 - okay
5 - weak
4 - bad
3 - awful
2 - pathetic
1 - abomination
Over the years I find myself rating movies lower in general.

Well the news just seems to be getting better about the new Star Wars films, especially knowing that this person will have nothing to do with them or anything Star Wars related ....

(insert "it's so dense" joke)
I wonder how much time it was in parsecs?
Parsecs measure distance, not time!

And I'm totally kidding about the Kevin Mccallister thing, so don't worry about that one.
that moment when I totally missed this joke because I've never seen Home Alone.
what
I don't remember my first viewings. I think I watched ROTJ the most when I was a kid, though (which is probably why it's my favorite). I don't remember watching SW or ESB quite as much before 1995.
I remember the glorious day of going to Best Buy with my mom and buying that 1995 THX trilogy box set the day it came out. As soon as I came home I popped that bad boy in, and I think that's when the love really took hold.
Two years later Greedo shot first...
Hmm that is the first time I've heard if people putting AOTC above Jedi.
Jedi was always my favorite. ESB is better, but the final act of Jedi is so epic and emotional.
Some tried to say Sith was better tha Jedi. Sith has some nice moments but it still has all the problems of the prequels.
That's kind of how I feel. Great scenes, good acting (other than the main female lead, she was awful and all her lines were monotone), and beautiful cinematography.
But the script just feels like it should have been sharpened more. I understand Cimino wrote it himself, and maybe he pulled a Lucas by not going through enough revisions.
I wouldn't say it's a beautiful mess. It's more a beautiful, underwritten script.
Heaven's Gate
Can't figure out what I thought of it. Certainly a good movie, but I'm not sure if it's great. I can see where criticisms came from when it was released, but I like how the film takes the conventions of Western films, as well as common notions about the American frontier, and flips them on their head. The film has some underlying themes that are just as relevant today.
What do others think of this film?
The Ridiculous Menace
Attack of the Ridiculousness
Revenge of the ___?
VII - An Uneasy Alliance
VIII - Ghosts of the Past
IX - The New Jedi Order
Lucas needed to prove himself as a director and visionary. He saw guys like James Cameron doing Titanic and felt he should belong in that upper echelon of visionary directors.
