This is what I really want. Make it a hard R, with Porkins kicking ass and taking names.

In my opinion these films should have started going into production in 1983.
But ROTJ was so awful that maybe a break between it and the next one would have been a good idea.
Personally I would like the bulk of the characters to be completely new and played by virtual unknowns with as many of the original actors as available playing Greek Choruscant.
Artoo and Threepio should be the only major OT players.
But poetry.
Marco Beltrami
Clint Howard
Will it be as good as 24?

PLEASE, please no Vader in either of these films. Not even a cameo. No way should a skilled smuggler get entangled in something like that. This is the man who drops his shipments at the first sign of an Imperial cruiser - no way would he go up against the second in command!
There is absolutely no way that Disney and Kennedy, who have already shown a lack of desire to do anything interesting with the franchise other than milking the bone-dry OT, will pass up on inserting arguably the most iconic character in all of film into their new spinoffs.
In other words, prepare to be disappointed.

What about that fellow from the Young Indy series? He's about the right age now to play Han in his prime.
There is only one person fit to play Han in his prime and that's Harrison Ford.
Do the Young Han Chronicles if you must or The Aged Han Yelling At Cloud Adventures but Han as an adult should not be recast.
Write around him.
Do a series set on his home world with people mentioning him or something.
Yes, because seeing our beloved characters such as Vader or Boba Fett as annoying kids worked quite well. :P
(below not directed at Bingo's post)
Here's an idea - COME UP WITH SOMETHING NEW. The EU filled in all the story gaps on classic characters that SW fans craved for 30 years. It's f**king time to move on and realize it's possible that more than 10 interesting characters exist in the SW galaxy.
I don't care how pessimistic I sound. Every announcement just shows me that Disney is going to milk this crap dry, then do it again every 10 years.I don't care if these are just spinoffs. Instead of half assing a few spinoffs, why not collect resources into a brand new trilogy, then spring everything off that?
Disney and Kennedy are taking the lazy approach. If anybody thinks George treated the franchise poorly, watered it down, ruined the mystique of classic characters, and catered too much to children, I can't wait to see what they'll think in a few years of Disney and Kennedy.
Flame on!
The guys behind It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia once pitched a show called Boldly Going Nowhere, a mix of comedy and sci-fi about life on a starship.

I'd love to see something like this. A show about nobodies or common folk in behind the larger happenings.

Same guy who played Young Indy playing Young Han?
Worlds are shrinking...
But in all honesty Flanery is 47 years old. Hardly young.
Actors don't always play characters close to their real life chronological ages though. And Mr. Flannery looks pretty darn good for 47...
How old is Han supposed to be in the Daley books?
I'm not suggesting that actors must play characters the exact same age as them.
Ford was 34 when he first played Han. If they're doing a "Young Han", then I'd figure they're going for Han to be in his 20s. While someone in their 30s can pass for being in their 20s, I don't think a 47-year-old can pull off being less than 30, nor do I think they should be expected to do so.

Straight-up rumor though. Just to clarify. Hm, I wonder if we should start a separate rumor thread...
It seems legit. Disney confirmed spinoffs yesterday, and multiple sites not named "Ain't It Cool News" have run the story about Boba and Han.
Disney, just cast Shia Lebeouf as young Han and get it the f*ck over with.

LOL, georgec!
I'd totally watch that; no kidding!
I might be the only ROTJ-is-my-favorite guy here, however... -_-
You're not the only one. ;)
Give me this instead:
Came here to post that.
Remember how awful an idea it was to have young Han Solo in ROTS?
Still an awful idea. Let's take away the mystery and allure of more OT characters.
I'll ruffle some feathers with this, but all I'm seeing from Disney is the same things we saw from Lucas. That is, shrinking the SW universe further and not coming up with anything original. Just rehashing old concepts. "Hey, a Han Solo movie with Boba Fett and Jabba the Hutt!" Yea, we got that already... :)
While many were saying, "Disney can't do worse than Lucas," I was quietly thinking, "Actually, they can."
I'm not writing them off completely, but it appears to me that Kennedy and Disney are just doing what Lucas probably dictated.
Yup, it's another Harry Knowles b.s. made up story to get website hits.
A Yoda standalone is the worst idea ever.
If it were somehow true, I'd pretty much give up any hope on the new direction of the franchise.
The great thing about Yoda, like other OT characters such as Vader, was the mystery of who he was.
Then the prequels showed us, and it was boring and uninteresting.
Meh.
Another.
