Old school telecine made in 77/78 of an original print/soundtrack with all the density levels of the colours intact, also featuring a projected film texture? Yes please.

(p.s. if you want to frankify the colours on this beauty then use the vlc settings in post 125)

just to be contrary, i prefered your first result! can you make two versions? one theatrically accurate one and then one with a green/yellow tint called the "limited edition/frank edition" or something

which of the projects in this thread were you interested in coltonlolz, as i remember it negative1's captures were done and got out into the wild in 2011 but i think all his attention is more on the 35mm stuff now.

I think 'the miss' is actually a false suggestion created my the rhythm of the way the scene is cut. You expect him to throw the hook earlier, based on the pacing, but it then cuts to him still unthreading the rope. Its like that thing magicians do in the film "the prestige", you create a series of steps up to something and the mind fills in the blank. So you have the impression of actually seeing something but then when you go back in the cold light of day you see it was never there.

I can't really believe this stuff is just lying around haphazardly in drawers after all this time. I mean if they published the lost cut article in SW insider in 1998-9 describing all the alternate elements in the lost cut and publishing stills back then they must have been able to present viewable media in black and white from the lost cut from that point. I can't believe they would go the trouble of researching/detailing footage of interest, and then close the archive door back up. I mean an archive is supposed to be indexed in some form and some stage surely? Or are the surviving dailies and stuff just sitting around in unmarked cans with the words 'film' on them?

*winces* ...but anyhow, have you worked out if its feasible with your software to do the whole thing scene by scene? Could you plug in your overall settings and then adjust scenes you wanted or would you start over completely?

If you are considering scene by scene maybe you should still render a version with these settings as back up. Is there a way to split your source file at the reel changes and render the reels individually with the settings to split the rendering time?

Actually, as far as I can make out Disney were really chill about that film "Escape from Tomorrow". Maybe they will ignore Star Wars fan stuff as long as it doesn't step on anything they are doing.
