Reading the latest posts on this thread, I would say that’s my biggest problem with Filoni, his total inabilty to move on from characters and milking them for all their worth. This is best expemplified by his incessant shoehorning of Ahsoka in every last bit of SW media.

I agree 100%. Ahsoka is becoming the character version of Tatooine. Enough already.

I really don’t get this complaint at all. Outside of animation she’s only other been in 1 episode of Mandalorian season 2 and 2 episodes of Book of Bobba Fet where she gets less than 10 minutes of screen time. She hasn’t in my opinion been shoehorned into this series. If they were going to do Grogu needs to be sent to the Jedi the only ones alive, and not missing, during this time period are Luke and her, and she has a previous relationship with Bo Katan. Like if she was in more of The Mandalorian I’d maybe get this complaint, but she hasn’t shown up at all in Season 3

I strongly believe Ahsoka should have died when she faced Darth Vader in Malachor. It would have been a powerful storytelling moment, but no, Filoni had her survive thanks to some time-travelling hijinks.

I don’t like Qui-Gon. My problem isn’t so much with the character himself. Just the fact that he steals away character traits and importance that should have been given to Obi-Wan. Also, I think a lot of fans “oversell” him nowadays as being “the wisest Jedi.”

As I’ve posted a few times before, my biggest problem with Qui-Gon is that he acts the way a young eager Padawan would act, whilst Obi-Wan is very by-the-book and conservative despite being a novice. It’s like Lucas got the roles mixed up and went with it anyway.

This. I don’t mind aliens speaking basic, but almost all of them do and with mostly with American accents, and this is what gives it a cosplah feel because they don’t sound alien at all.

StarkillerAG’s comments hit the nail on the head. The Mandalorian and the wider Mandoverse feels like cosplay Star Wars.

Also, let’s have aliens speaking alien languages.

If aliens are given foreign accents then everyone will accuse Disney of racism. I still remember when some criticized the accents of Jar Jar Binks and Nute Gunray.

If there’s one thing I did learn about my one time it’s that it made me realize I’m far more interested in giving pleasure than in receiving, which is why it’s very unlikely I’ll ever hire another prostitute, as you pay them to receive pleasure.

Just to be clear BTW, I want a purely physical relationship. I’m also fully aware reciprocity is key, as I want a woman who’s into me as much as I’m into her. Think Last Tango in Paris minus the whole getting killed in the end.

Giving is much better than receiving 😉

Yeah. That’s the sort of reputation I want to have among women, as the guy who can give them a really great time in bed.

From what I’ve learned… the biggest thing when it comes to sexual fulfillment is forming meaningful connections first. The most meaningful connections take time, and they are not the easiest to find though.

I struggled with depression heavily in my high school years (still do today but for different reasons) as all my friends had girlfriends and we’re getting laid regularly. I was afraid to do anything or say anything over fear of rejection. Once in college, I turned the anger and jealously into action, and decided to open up my feelings and just be honest from the start of what I was looking for with girls who I was friends with or was getting close to. The fear of rejection needs to go.

It’s not the easiest thing in any way, but seeking out girls who have similar interests and presenting yourself for who you are goes a long way. Eventually, when you open up, you’ll find a girl accepting of what you want and willing to give it, and letting a relationship grow. It will definitely take a few tries, and you’ll need to push yourself.

Be honest, be clean (good hygiene goes a longggggg way), and be yourself.

Coming from someone who thought they were destined to be alone forever, I found the best girl in the world for me that accepts me, pushes me to be better, and loves me for me.

Hang in there, be yourself and don’t be afraid. You got this.

If there’s one thing I did learn about my one time it’s that it made me realize I’m far more interested in giving pleasure than in receiving it, which is why it’s very unlikely I’ll ever hire another prostitute, as you pay them to receive pleasure.

Just to be clear BTW, I want a purely physical relationship. I’m also fully aware reciprocity is key, as I want a woman who’s into me as much as I’m into her. Think Last Tango in Paris minus the whole getting killed in the end.

I also want multiple partners, as I feel I’ve missed out on way too much and want to make up for lost time.

From my personal experience lack of sexual activity is bad for you.

I find it really frustrating to hear how sex is a natural part of life yet the physical act itself has eluded me throughout my entire adult life. I only had sex once when I was 18 with a prostitute, an experience I didn’t find particularly enjoyable per my own admission, yet I hoped this would finally open the floodgates for me so to speak, however it didn’t happen, and my sexual journey has amounted to that one time and over two decades of masturbation. Witnessing friends and acquaintances enjoy far more fulfilling sex lives than me while I’m always being left out. This has inevitably built up a lot of anger, frustration and bitterness in me, particularly in the last three years. I remember feeling this big fear during the Covid Pandemic of never getting to enjoy sex to the fullest.

As I turn 35 years old I must tell you guys, I am so fucking tired of being the loser who can’t get laid, and can’t seem to find a way to change that. Why is it so fucking hard for me find a suitable sexual partner? Am I doomed to be one of those people who dies sexually unfulfilled?

As I’ve learned more about the photochemical process and having seen a few 35mm film print scans, I must admit that I am very skeptical of official home video releases these days, as they very often have drastically different colour gradings, lowered contrast, excessive DNR, etc.

For what it’s worth, the contrast and the color gradings are both part and parcel with going back to the negatives. Every stage in the optical duplication process boosts contrast, so by the time you get to a 35mm print, the contrast is much higher than the negative. Similarly, the color on the negative may have little relation to the color on the print.

So if you go back to the negative, you’re going to have to make some choices about contrast and colors. Most leave contrast more-or-less unchanged because the negatives still have a pleasant and natural contrast – albeit unlike a print (i.e. it’s not a choice to reduce contrast, so much as a choice not to boost it to match), but colors are where bad stuff happens. Even with the best of intentions, it’s HARD to reproduce digitally color timings that were initially achieved photochemically. And people are often not the best about checking references. But yeah, sometimes/often it’s way worse than that.

I would say on of the worst offenders in that regard is the Aliens blu-ray, which has been given a blanket green tint resulting in everything that supposed to be blue looking teal, and the skin tones look pale, plus all warm colours look kinda dull.

As with most such projects, this project gotta be available to contributors only and no general release.

So if I donate some time down the line will it be made available to me?

So long as the total funding target for costs has not been met yet.
At this point it’s a ways to go still.

I’m afraid that means I’ll miss out, then.

I feel your pain.

If I had money and privacy, I’d just pay for it. Unfortunately, both are in short supply.

I already paid for it sixteen years ago. Didn’t particularly enjoy it. It also made me realize that I’m far more interested in giving pleasure than in receiving it, making it unlikely for me to pay for sex again. I want there to be reciprocity, me wanting to pleasure a woman who’s into me as much as I am into her.

Now, I know pirating is a touchy subject, and I now own the OT on DVD (reference to a 2016 incident), and let me make myself clear that you should never pirate something that is readily available, but honestly, if you are pirating something that is incredibly hard to obtain, is long out of print, with any remaining copies being ungodly expensive, and worse case scenario completely impossible to purchase in your region, basically being in a “Keep Circulating the Tapes” situation, it’s okay to do it.

Like, if I more or less can’t legally purchase it, what am I supposed to do? Just not listen to/watch it?

Please note I am not condoning piracy, I’m just saying it’s not so bad in extreme cases.

There’s one thing you should take into consideration. Piracy is prevalent in Third World countries because the majority of people simply can’t afford to purchase original copies of movies, video games, etc., and have far more pressing concerns such as a cost of living that far more demanding than the average US or Western European citizen. They can’t afford it but still want their slice of entertainment, so piracy is the one viable solution that doesn’t involve any unnecesary expenses.

There’s also been a few articles from major websites where it has been noted that piracy has so far proven to be the most effective way to preserve and play old computer games. Case in point The Operative: No One Lives Forever, which is normally unattainable due to a variety of copyright reasons, and it’s only through pirated copies anyone can play that game.

Also were it not for piracy films like Nosferatu and Metropolis would have been lost forever, because someone had a bootleg print stashed away somewhere.

Please OT moderators, do not ban me for what I just posted. I think a conversation needs to be had about the subject.

I’m about to say something I personally find fascinating

I think the chances are pretty high that at least 70% of all media ever created are obscure/forgotten. It’s all about publicity usually, only occasionally does a piece of media reach fame, and that’s usually because of some form of publicity. Take Klaatu for example. Their solid debut album was only well known because they were at one point literally thought to have been a Beatles reunion. Before that, they fell into obscurity not long after they released it (yet were still critically acclaimed).

I’ve also seen (and bought) some old movies only available on one compilation DVD, the same goes for some old songs as well, I’ve seen (and bought) some genuinely great (and very old) songs only available on one compilation album, some you can’t even listen/watch ANY part of the song/film at all without buying the CD/DVD first, making it a bit of a gamble some of the time.

Now, there are a lot of silent films available to the public, but there are estimates that 90% of all silent films are now gone. If the majority of all silent films ever made no longer exist yet there is still a behemoth of silent film that do still exist, that must mean that the vast majority of say, '80s movies are obscure.

On top of that, I’ve seen some films that are incredibly hard to find yet still exist, and very rarely some foreign films that aren’t even on IMDb at all, yet are on some foreign equivalent (such as Douban).

And I bet those super obscure songs, movies, and maybe even TV shows must be hiding some great surprises, such as one very obscure album I recently bought.

Makes sense. Frankly I don’t think anyone can keep up with media, even in the pre-internet age.

I never cared for Batman 1989, but Batman Returns is my absolute favourite of the Burton/Schumacher era.

Regarding Nolan’s Dark Knight Trilogy, TDKR is my personal favourite of the trilogy, and on rewatch I find myself enjoying it more than TDK. Batman Begins is brought down by Katie Holmes, giving one of the most lifeless performances I’ve ever seen in a movie.

I don’t get James Bond. I’m obviously biased; I don’t like the type of masculinity he represents.

The most enjoyment I’ve gotten out of the franchise is from Live and Let Die. Theme song is bitchin’, plus its Voodoo aspects (as stereotypically represented as they are, unfortunately) appeal to my love of horror.

Actually that’s what makes it more enjoyable for me, particularly the Connery era. The hypermasculinity is so over-the-top it’s laughably ridiculous.

I still maintain that the best Tom Cruise performance ever is his Lestat in Interview with a Vampire, as it’s the only time he disappears into the character. Heck, he elevates that movie into “pretty decent” territory.

IMO Tom Cruise excells in villanous/asshole roles. Collateral and Tropic Thunder Thunder are proof of that. I’d love to see him play bad guys more often.
