I will never understand how or why the copy-paste job that is TFA is so highly ranked.

Dial back the saturation but keep the orange tint, then.
Soon… Very soon…
I don’t know why, but this trailer made me cry.
Ok un-jaundice it at least it does more or less match now. The fist 2 better than the last 2.
I tried :
OK, I don’t know if I have different tastes but I don’t like Dre’s regrades. They look kinda flat and dull, but UnitéD2’s regrade with the orange tint looks just right.
I will probably be crucified for saying this, but I think the SE shot made the secuence slightly more plausible. Feeling safe being backed up by their comrades-in-arms, the stormtroopers regain their composure and fight back.
Going back to Jakku would let them explore who Rey’s parents were. Are they really dead? Really nobodies? But I think Jedha would make more sense in terms of the saga. If Rey isn’t a Skywalker, her parentage is of no importance.
I was perfectly happy with the reveal of Rey’s parents being nobody case closed, move along. If they keep insisting with this nonsense then fuck this movie.
I have a question. As a spleen member my share rate is running pretty low due to various reasons, and I worry that might get me banned since it is usually a thing with private trackers. The reason I’m bringing this up is because I’m going to need to download 4K77 again in addition to some other 35mm scans. Does this mean I’m at risk?
If there is one scene in the first SW that doesn’t make any sense it’s when Han and Chewie chase after the stormtroopers only to meet a dead end when in the Death Star.
Think about it. The stormtroopers outnumber Han and Chewie 5 or 6 to 2, yet they run away like scared little children and only fight back when they’re cornered.
Hey emanswfan, with the current 35mm print projects of the PT would you be willing to work on a version 2.0 a few years down the road? You know, to iron out any inaccuracies and bring it closer to the look of a 35mm print?
Very excited for the Taika Waititi directed episode.
It’s a pretty exciting batch:
https://www.starwars.com/news/the-mandalorian-revealedTaika, Filoni, and the series’s first two female directors (with Bryce keeping things in the Howard family).
Not to mention, if the word about Fraser is true, this is shaping to be a pretty cool show indeed.
Who’s Fraser?
I’m also looking forward to BDH flexing her directorial muscles.
What has Favreau ever done to you, Mala?
Iron Man 2 😕
It’s pretty well known that Iron Man 2 was lackluster due to studio interference, and it’s also rumoured that the troubled production of Iron Man 2 and creative differences were the reason Favreau chose not to direct Iron Man 3.
Finally watched Plinkett’s review of TLJ, and it seems to me that his biggest complaint is that the movie is structured like a comedy, and also complains about how characters act like idiots.
Plinkett’s review of TLJ is just hilarious, and I really lost it when the video of Rich Evans as Rian Johnson pours red wine on top of a table next to an empty cup.
Still, my opinion of the movie has not changed at all. Star Wars:The Last Jedi is my favourite of the saga and that’s all that matters to me. Really looking forward to Rian Johnson’s SW Trilogy.
Nice idea. Good thing to explore the post-ROTJ era. Only bad idea: Jon Favreau is involved 😕
Why is Favreau’s involvement a bad idea? So far I’ve liked the stuff he’s done.
On a related note I’ve noticed many have expressed their dislike for the Mandalorians over several threads, and the reason given is that it’s because they are a warrior culture and warrior cultures in fiction are boring. How are warrior cultures boring? They’re usually amongst the coolest things that pop up in fiction. I just don’t understand why people are so unenthusiastic about them.
TFA Kylo Ren: No.
TLJ Kylo Ren: Hell yes!
I think the bad rap Kennedy has been getting since TLJ was released on theaters is undeserved. She’s a producer first and foremost, and has been in the business for over thirty years knowing how the industry works, so I’m pretty sure she knows what she’s doing.
R.I.P. Mr. Kurtz.
I would’ve liked to know what he thought of the ST, but sadly he has taken his opinions with him.
We already have the super-merger of AT&T and TimeWarner that is now known as WarnerMedia. Disney now owns 21st Century Fox minus Fox News and Fox Sports and Comcast has bought Sky.
The subtle pink cast has been completely removed, which is great, but I kinda like the grain. Is there any possibility of releasing a version of 4K77 with the colour timing of the DNR version and film grain? It would be the best of both worlds.
By the way, the Marvel SW comic had Vader torturing rebel officers for the name of the pilot who’d destroyed the Death Star. Despite ‘Skywalker’ being the SW equivalent of ‘Smith’ (according to GL) I maintain that once he’d heard that name he’d be pretty sure whose son that kid was!
If Skywalker is such a common surname in the Galaxy I think it’s weird that the only Skywalkers we find are the Skywalker family from the main saga. I would say the most common surname in the Galaxy is Antilles, as a senator Bail Antilles is mentioned in TPM, there’s captain Antilles of the Tantive IV and of course Wedge Antilles.
Now I want to see a character named Skywalker that has no relation to the famous family and isn’t even Force-sensitive.
As a teenager ROTJ was my favourite of the SW OT, and as many of you have posted here previously it is perhaps the pinnacle of traditional optical effects from the pre-digital age (I would also add Predator 2 to that lot).
Now that doesn’t mean the movie is without flaws, particularly with Lucas rehashing the Death Star and Leia being outed as a Skywalker. I’m pretty sure Lucas pulled that one out of his arse when he couldn’t come up with a better way to solve Yoda’s line in TESB (No. There is another), and it also raises another question: how come Vader immediatly identifies Luke as his son but remains completely unaware of Leia being his daughter until the Battle of Endor? The conversation between Vader and Leia at the beginning of the first SW makes it clear they’ve interacted before, and he couldn’t sense anything when being around her?.
Musically I also think ROTJ has the weakest score of the OT, as whenever I want to enjoy the score of the OT I find myself skipping ROTJ, dunno but it simply isn’t as memorable or as captivating as its two predecessors.
Unlike many I’m totally fine with the Ewoks, although I find it hilarious how an adult male in a full suit of armour is instantly killed by a Teddy bear throwing a rock at him.
I’ve read that Gary Kurtz originally wanted ROTJ to end with Han dying, the Rebellion in tatters, Leia assuming leadership to continue the struggle and Luke walking away from everything. Curiously these elements have been incorporated in the ST.
I said it before, say it again - Yoda with a lightsabre is like Gandhi with a machine gun
Which would be pretty cool, logic be damned.
What really bothers me the most about the prequels isn’t the fancy aesthetics, but the fact that the Galaxy appears to be way more advanced technologically 30-20 years before the OT.
Although TPM is visually the most Star Wars-sy looking of the prequels because it was the only one shot on film and used real sets and more practical effects, story-wise TPM is all over the place. AOTC’s only saving grace for me is the lightsaber duel between Yoda and Dooku (yes I enjoy that scene, sue me).
ROTS is most definitely the best of the prequels in terms of overall story and character (I still dislike the whole saving Padmé as Anakin’s reason for turning to the Dark Side), and the I enjoy the most. I also think it’s only one of the prequels that really feeds into the OT plot-wise (if you ignore TPM and AOTC you won’t really miss out on anything).
BTW, porn star Lexi Belle is a huge SW fan and considers AOTC her favourite of the franchise, so make of that what you will.
This week my father and I saw Soylent Green on Blu-ray, and I was baffled by the review it was given on the blu-ray.com website about the video quality. The reviewer gave it a 3/5 rating and criticized the gritty look of the movie, but personally I thought the movie looked gorgeous and had the exact look a low-budget movie from the early 1970s is supposed to have.
Looks like an average animated TV show for 5 year olds. I’ll pass.
Honestly I think it’s better if anyone who can donates to this and a 35mm print of ROTS when it surfaces. I’m tired of waiting for those filmized edits of the prequels which seem to have stalled indefinitelly.
From the scans of the 35mm trailers I’m 100% certain they’ll end up looking way better than the BDs.
