Ep 3 death star !

I remember that I've posted here, when ROTS was released, that that particular scene could not have take place so fast, like, days after Vader got his suit. Apart from the whole Death Star discussion, the imperial officers were seeing using the OT imperial uniform - or something close to it - and were at their posts and working. Now, I don't remember seeing anything like that on the PT, and I don't remember Palpatine having a shitload of boxes filled with uniforms for his new officers, so...

That is my only guess it's a couple years after the twins are given over. GL should have placed that scene last like I stated before.

I would be interested to know what you think of the death penalty in cases like Timothy McVeigh?

The way I see is that McVeigh was a decorated honorable soldier who in a few short years became a mass murderer of 168 women, children, and men. He was not only guilty of murdering those eight federal officers, but he was also guilty of treason and that necessitates the death penalty. Yes, human life is precious which is why guys like McVeigh should be done away with when they kill on such a level.

I rarely speak of this, but I will because I feel I understand this issue a little better than others.

Having served for ten years within the justice system, first as a jailer in county jail here in Texas, now as a Police Officer of 6 years, I feel I have a first person perspective of just how screwed up the justice system is just how dangerous people like Gomer really are.

There is rarely no such thing as "rehabilitation". Serial killers and child molesters will NEVER change, nor will they stop what they want to do by any means. If you will, think of their desires like so. We all have something that really gets us going, I love hot curvy chicks in fancy corsets. I cannot explain why I love this, but I do and no amount of imprisonment, psychotherapists, or money will change that deep rooted fantasies of mine. I'm sure many of you have a similar type of desire. Imagine that whatever desire you have is outlawed and illegal, you still could not stop those desires. I'm not implying that anyone should give empathy to those are sexually attracted to children or get off on ripping the guts out of hookers, but this will allow you to understand them to a point. Now that you "understand" their desires you realize there is no possible way of changing it and paying for them to live the rest of their lives in a cell with three meals a day and several officers keeping an eye on them is not the best course of action. The best course of action is to simply put them to death. They will never contribute to our society, they will never stop wanting what they want, they will kill or molest again if they ever escape or are freed.

The laws are designed to protect the innocent, but unfortunately the guilty too. I've arrested too many people who were guilty without any a doubt, but they walked away scott free because of some stupid technicality or small error or even political favors. Usually they are re-arrested again with the same outcome only days or weeks later. The basis is that the recidivism rate is only the tip of the iceberg. That does not count the times someone has been arrested and then let go because of some stupid legal loophole or weak minded judge. Maybe I sound like a grizzled, cynical, hardned cop, but let me tell you this country is heading straight for the crapper if this stuff isn't fixed. Most of you would be truly amazed how much stuff goes on just outside the door of your house and it seems almost nothing can be done. It truly sadens me everytime I go to that call about an 8 year old girl whose been molested for the last 3 years by her own father and know that if I so much as spell one word in the report, the defense attorney will ride me into the ground for hours on end.

You hit the nail on the head Cable, unlimited appeals are heavily burdening and taxing the system to a point where the system will crumble eventually from the stress of it.

I could go on and on and on, but I'll end my rant for now.

Whew, hope I didn't ruin ya'lls day with this rant. Sorry, I just have to let it out occasionally.

At the end of ROTS its about 25% built--you have the main inner superstructure, which is the most major section of the construction, plus a good start on the outer and inner hulls. So how long has this thing been under construction for? Since the ten year period when Palpatine came into office? We don't know. Then its complete twenty years later but it gets blown up and then in a couple years another even bigger one is nearly complete. Were they both constructed at the same time? How the hell did they build the other one so fast? Nothing is ever even mentioned about this huge development. You have clutch at straws and invent your own explanation to fill these holes--"oh they learned a lot from the first construction," "oh there was labor difficulties and rebel insurgents" etc. You might as well not even have plot continuity if you are just going to be doing this.

Well, that is just the way I heard it justified. However, I have heard stated a couple times that the scene at the end of ROTS where Palpy and Vader are viewing the Deathstar 1 was out of sequence and that that event occured a couple years after Obi Wan gave over Luke to Owen. Maybe a fanedit version could put the Vader and Palpy scene as the final scene just after Luke gets handed over. I think that would work better anyway.

Well, the way I've heard it justified is that the first DS took years because of prisoner riots, rebel sabotage efforts, supply issues, design and construction issues that had to be hammered out, and having to drain manpower from building to keeping the thing safe from attack. The second Death Star had all of these problems worked out from the trial and error of the first. Plus it was built in total obscurity and the rebals did not know about it so there was sabotaging efforts made.

Look dude, I have no idea why you are being so hostile, but I posted the first post becuase the founder of the company, Joone, was quoted as of late last year. The second post I placed was based on a press meeting that the company had making it offical that they would not use Blu-ray. i don't know why you are taking such a trivial matter with such anger and hatred. And I have read this entire thread from beginning to end and each article I have posted.

You all should really heed your own advice, if you don't like what a thread has to say, don't read it. It was a simple harmless thread detailing the odd fact that a game has reached such hieghts that it warrants it's own station, besides this thread would have died within a couple days had you WOW folks had not taken it so personal and decided to write comebacks constantly. It is almost getting the point of your being trollers.

GEEK WAR '07

Alrighty guys, here is my take. We are all either Star Wars geeks or WOW nerds, either way it is all in good fun. Although, I do tend to think that a WHOLE station based on WOW is kind of odd, I mean I've never seen a Mario, Gears of War, Zelda, or Halo station before. I do think the guys at WOW are being too overly sensative, I mean, they should realize that they are playing to a niche market and not everyone will be into it. Just like Star Wars plays on a niche market as well, but Star Wars is well rooted and has generations of fans from the last 30 years at least. Maybe WOW will still be played 30 years from now and have just as much a rooted following as Star Wars, who knows. Either way, who cares.
