I mean. I don’t wanna jump the gun because Buzzfeed (which is world renowned for its journalistic integrity) “broke the story” about the details (which probably means they’re not true) but it is very interesting to think that Russia has some shit on Trump.

I couldn’t imagine it being all that juicy. Remember, the RNC wanted Trump as much as anyone meaning that they didn’t want him either. If they would have had that good of dirt, they’d have put out into the wild. The RNC wasn’t protecting him like the DNC was protecting and shilling for Hillary.

i decided to look for a countdown clock for you Warb, to help you out.

Just watch MSNBC.

Liberals are endlessly fascinated with timers. I really don’t know why, but I remember all kinds of timers counting down Bush’s term all over the internet and even sold as key fobs. One lib I knew cherished her key fob counting down Bush’s last term.

I’m just waiting until I can laugh my ass off when Trump is president and finally does something so insane and egregious that all the people who vocally support him suddenly become very very quiet.

Hopefully it won’t result in any deaths or anything.

I honestly have no horse in this race since I am neither a Trump supporter or Trump hater. But I am about 80% sure nothing drastic will really take place under Trump, so I see both sides being disappointed. The left, and all the Anti-Trumpers, will be sad that he isn’t the Bond villain they really want him to be and when they finally realize there will be no concentration camps built for the Mexicans and Gays. And anyone who voted for him really thinking that he’d do most of what he said he would do will be sad and disappointed as well when he doesn’t do hardly anything he said he would. I honestly see this being a mostly uneventful few years ahead of us.

Just curious, what exactly do you expect will happen when Trump is sworn in? “Doomsday” insinuates mass death, anarchy, lawlessness. I’m pretty sure it will be business as usual and everybody will go about their lives.

I expect a crazy bigoted, sexist, bully to take control of our government and our nukes.

Okay. Obama is a crazy, hateful, conceited, bully but you’ve been pretty cool with him.

Ignoring Warb’s condemnation of Trump for a second…Obama is a crazy, hateful, conceited bully? Really? That’s an accurate assessment of the man and his personality?

From my point of view, yes. Yes, very much.

I could go as far as smug and even conceited, but I’d be interested to know what actions of his demonstrate his craziness and hatefulness to you.

He has been very hateful of cops, from day one. All of his speech and rhetoric is hateful of cops. He is very hateful of conservatives, he’s proven this time and again. I personally think he is crazy just because of his radical allegiance to a failed ideology. Socialism doesn’t work, history has proven has much yet he and his keep wanting it.

Of course, most of this is merely my opinion, which addresses my main point. That being that it is merely an opinion, which some, or even many, may not share. Trump is as much the “apocalypse” as Obama was. It all depends on your philosophy. I felt very threatened under Obama, and the figures seem to confirm my fears since attacks on the Police have increased under him and my health costs have skyrocketed.

I feel far safer under a President Trump than I ever would under Obama. But again, it’s just my opinion based on my experiences and what I’ve seen.

I don’t know what the legal requirements are for a hate crime, though — do people need to be a member of a minority or protected group in order to be victims of a hate crime, or is only the intent of expressing hate toward a particular group required?

I’ve read up on this in the past, it is the latter.

I’ll provide my knowledge as a cop, yes, you’re right. It is the latter. But don’t expect “hate crimes” to actually apply accordingly, uniformly, or in a manner that makes sense. I was chastised back in 2006 for filing a case as a hate crime. Apparently, beating a white person while calling them a “cracker”, a “gringo”, and a “honky” isn’t a hate crime if the victim is white and the assailants are Latinos. And I’m speaking as a half white, half Mexican guy. I really honestly hate the idea of “hate crimes”, it purports to punish people of racist motivations, when in fact it does not in many circumstances depending on the race of the assailant. Plus, you have to really prove the actual basis of the attacker as racist, which is much harder than you could imagine in a court of law. Even these highly racist idiots beating a poor mentally deficient white guy while saying extremely racist crap, you watch their trials and see what I am talking about. Therefor, “hate crimes”, should include all crimes since most all crimes are based on hate of some sort, whether it be hate of gender, class, wealth, race, etc. etc. So, “hate crimes” in itself shouldn’t exist unless it includes all crimes.

But excuse me for thinking. I’m just a cop who has spent a decade and half on the streets actually dealing with people, crimes, criminals, victims, etc. etc. What do I know. My experience means nothing.

Rogue One * Spoilers * Thread
Time

Once again, I’m a very late bloomer with these Star Wars threads. I FINALLY took this movie in earlier at the 8:30p cst showing of my local favorite theater on 01/07/2017. The wife and I had a great Italian dinner alone, with the kids at their Grandparents house, then we ventured on to the theater at a time when we’d usually be getting to bed. Yeah, we’re 30 something old folks.

I loved it.

I felt myself wiping away some tears at some points. Especially with Vader, hearing James Earl Jones do his level best to impersonate himself from 40 years ago really made me shed some tears, both in nostalgic euphoria and in sadness that this great man will someday soon leave us. My wife and I both noticed him struggling to maintain his vocal dominance that he once had with ease. This is no criticism, but merely an observation. I’d listen to James Earl Jones any day above most everyone regardless of his age.

The first 45 mins or so was slow, and there is no way I’ll keep my four year old boy attuned to it right now. Although he is endlessly FASCINATED by the AT-AT’s in ESB, it will take him a few years to appreciate this movie in it’s entirety, and that I’m not at all upset about. I know he’ll love the intro of the AT-AT’s, apparently sans armor. At least once it is Blu-Ray, I can skip to that part and see the joy in his eyes.

All in all, I am very happy with R1, it brought me down when I needed bringing down and it brought me up when I need bringing up. I like it. I can’t wait to see it again so that I can see the nuances I missed.

Star Wars moving forward without Ms. Fisher
Time

Later in that article:

Another solution is to use CGI effects…"‘Rogue One’ is the road map," says one “Star Wars” source, referring to Lucasfilm resurrecting Peter Cushing and making Fisher young again in the current hit.

It sounds like their plan is to double down on the video game cutscenes. Maybe PIXAR can take over at some point.

I always take anything from a “source” with a grain of salt.

I think they could beautifully write in Leia’s death to serve as a tribute to Carrie Fisher and an emotional sendoff for the fans for both the character of Leia and Carrie Fisher.
