the F111 has a capsule escape system exactly like that

That's pretty cool.  I'm sure the physics is different for space vehicles, but that's neat to think about being able to bail out if things get bad.

Well, it would seem to me all it would need is an oxygen supply and a small enough propulsion system to get them to safety. The premise of the those star-fighters is to have space combat, almost always, with a large mother-ship or battle-station nearby. Unless, of course, it's being piloted by Darth Vader or Luke Skywalker.

I've seen bodies ejected 300 feet from the car before.

Ever seen a typical four-fifteen?

Can't say I know what a "typical four-fifteen" is, but if it is a guy with his head stuck in a steering wheel then yes.

A guy crashed his 1967 Camaro and, of course, the old style steering wheel allowed for his head to be lodged in it. He survived, but it did look very much like the picture you attached.

No, I didn't mean decapitated by the seatbelt, I meant decapitated by the windshield from not wearing a seatbelt. Head goes through the windshield, and the glass cuts it off as the weight of the body pulls it down.

Oh, I see what you're saying now. That scenario is also completely impossible in every car manufactured after 1927. Those windshields and windows are made of safety glass so they shatter to a million pieces when impacted, sure they can cause small cuts, but they could never remove a limb or head. Glass in cars doesn't work like window panes in houses, they don't shard or have points. Once a cars window is busted, it will break apart real easy. I can clear a whole windshield out in under 10 seconds with my baton by scraping the edges of the frame. But the odd thing is that it holds people in the cars usually, they bounce off of it. Here's a good little write up on how safety glass works.

nothing mysterious or supernatural, just not common. I picked a guys head up from the ground. Just his head, that was all. Had been severed in an auto accident and the weirdest thing is that it was severed just perfect, like it was intentional. He was looking up at me. Weird.

Decapitation due to the head going through the windshield in an unrestrained auto collision, correct? It is fairly common place for unrestrained individuals to wind up with severed heads right? Just not the perfect severing as you described? Or is the whole thing rather uncommon?

My friend has a theory that seatbelts are not necessary and don't really save that many lives and are just as likely to make matters worse in the event of a wreck. I told her (she was driving during this conversation) that if we had a wreck she'd end up losing a head while I'd walk away unscathed thanks to my seat belt and she laughed at me about the possibility of decapitation via windshield. This made me doubt my belief in the frequency of actual decapitations in auto crashes. In her profession she deals with car crash victims on a near daily basis, but typically she is dealing with the ones who haven't stopped breathing yet.

But, I figure Ferris can set me straight on this one, and add/take away my arguments validity.

Never ever seen a seatbelt decapitate or hurt anyone, total myth. Seen lots of people dead because they weren't wearing their belt. Never had to say, "You were lucky you didn't have your seatbelt on!".

Most of the decapitations I've seen were from people being sated in their car and something penetrating the vehicle at the rihts spot, or being ejected and then hitting other objects just right to slice the head off. I've seen bodies ejected 300 feet from the car before. Even had one where we worked up a fatality collision and thought there was just one guy there, turns out his buddy had been ejected over some trees and landed 200 feet away. Didn't realize it unil we delivered the death notice to his wife who asked where Johnny was, had to go scour the area and found him.

The one I'm talking about here was odd because it was a perfect cut, like it was done intentionaly. Rare to see those. This one happened when a guy was sitting in his drivers seat of a suburban and had turned his head, he didn't see the large excavator on a flat bed truck trailer coming at him. The excavators tracks were hanging over the side of the flat bed and the guy got too close, lopped his head off and killed his 11 year old son who was seated behind him. His wife and other kid survived with bad injuries. The suburban looked like it had been opened up with a can opener.

How do you feel about guns? And Suggest one for me.
Time

They are expensive, but I am a Heckler & Koch fanatic. My first duty weapon was an H&K USP .40 Compact (USP stands for Universial Self-Loading Pistol). H&K actually was before Glock and is the best damn weapon on the market, IMHO. I love them things and wished my current Chief would allow me to carry mine. I have to carry a Smith & Wesson 1911 .45, which is okay, but no where near the quality of either of my H&K's. (I own a .45 USP Compact also).

The answer to your question really depends on what you intend to do with it.

If it is for fun, any decent gun will do. Sig Sauer, H&K, Glock, S&W, Colt, Taurus, they all are great guns.

For specifically used as defensive, noting less than a an H&K, Glock, S&W, or Taurus will do. My wife carries a Smith & Wesson .38 w/ a factory Crimson Trace laser installed.

For hunting rifles, Remington, Winchester, Marlin, and American Safari are the way to go.

It just all depends on what you want to do.

It's been a while for me too, but I thought he is trying through the first half of the movie (in the actual film).  I know that doesn't make sense (films are not shot chronologically) but that's what I recall.

Yeah, I recall it pretty clearly, he tired like hell the first 30 mins or so to keep the terrible accent then said to hell with it and ran with his own. Funny part was, in a couple spots they edited in scenes they recorded earlier in filming with his attempted accent, so he's going along talking normal, then terrible accent, then not. Funny.
